E. Rowell: Dr. Nehls explains that the hippocampus is a very small part of the brain that temporarily stores new memories until they can be “uploaded” to other neurons during sleep. If they cannot be uploaded to other neurons due to stress or inadequate sleep, due to the restriction in size of the hippocampus, these memories will be overwritten the next day, thus losing those prior memories. If this happens for a prolonged period it results in [partial]loss of autobiographical memory: the memories that make us who we are. Note that all memories of experiences are encoded with the time of the experience, the place of the experience, and the feelings experienced at the time. As a German, Dr. Nehls is warning us of a new kind of totalitarianism: one that exploits the mind and has the technological capability to change it permanently.
The global war on humanity’s mental immune system
By Michael Nehls, MD, Ph.D. 25 March 2024
The Indoctrinated Brain unveils a previously unidentified neurobiological mechanism of indoctrination that significantly alters personality. Overwhelming evidence suggests that battles against perpetual pandemics (with COVID-19 just the beginning, as per the WEF Risk Report 2023), uncontrollable climate change, and national borders are merely aspects of a singular, covert war on the human brain. The real battlefield is our autobiographical memory, and thereby the mental immune system of our society. The sharp decline in mental health across all age groups is not mere collateral damage of a flawed anti-COVID-19 strategy, but the logical outcome of a stealthy and sophisticated neuropathological indoctrination process. This process aims for a Great Mental Reset, positioning humanity to “willingly” accept a new totalitarian system from the outset, despite its fundamental incompatibility with human nature.
What follows is a condensation of the full article written by Dr. Nehls.
“Welcome to 2030: I own nothing, have no privacy, and life has never been better”1, predicts Danish politician Ida Auken. In her 2016 article for the World Economic Forum (WEF), she envisions a society born from the Great Reset advocated by the WEF. This ‘reset,’ however, aims to be far more than just a benign return to an imagined original state of our current economy. Instead, it proposes the imposition of a new totalitarian ‘operating system’ across humanity—a society without cash or property, overseen by artificial intelligence (AI) and governed by social credit systems.
Yet, for the majority to embrace, even celebrate, such a ‘brave new world’—marked by pervasive surveillance and complete reliance on the agendas of technocratic elites, as Ida Auken suggests—a Great Mental Reset, a global-scale brainwashing, is necessary. As The Indoctrinated Brain illustrates, the seamless implementation and upkeep of such an operating system are achievable only by diminishing personal memory records beforehand (or concurrently), eradicating individual and consequently cultural identities. This strategy targets the hippocampus—the center for autobiographical memory in the human brain—clearly marking it for technocratic conquest. Erasing individualism and independent thinking clears the path for unquestioning conformity to prevailing technocratic narratives.
These narratives push the overstated claim that only a technocrat-led World Health Organization (WHO) can ensure our survival amidst endless pandemics and climate conflicts. A bill granting the WHO authority to interfere in national policies was approved by a majority in the German Bundestag on May 12, 2023.2 The widely accepted narrative that not the immune system but an increasing number of vaccinations (or even gene therapies) are our only protection against known and emerging pathogens has been particularly effective.
Even more transformative in the long term, we’re led to believe that the fight against climate change—which, according to a central technocratic narrative, is entirely human-caused—can only be won by abandoning private ownership, cash, and privacy, while simultaneously embracing surveillance and social scoring systems.
Enduring acceptance of these deeply counter-cultural trends necessitates the erosion of the mental or psychological immune system of the human population at large. Rainer Mausfeld, a German professor emeritus of general psychology, described the function of this mental safeguard in an interview with Overton magazine: ”Opinions and attitudes cannot be so easily manipulated against facts or reason because we normally have a natural psychological immune system against manipulation. So we notice when we are being manipulated and turn away from the poisoned medium. But when our natural immune system against manipulation is undermined or impaired, we are at the mercy of manipulation without protection.”10
Our physical immune system becomes more adept at countering new viral threats when it encompasses a wider variety and functionality of immune cells. In a similar vein, the likelihood of uncovering innovative solutions to existential threats, such as the loss of freedom, increases with the presence of mentally healthy individuals who possess distinct individualities within a society. The complexity and diversity of our personal experiences, as indicators of individuality, enhance our ability to foresee and innovate.
Those who seek to dominate humanity have two fundamental strategies to degrade or permanently weaken its mental immune system: diminishing the number of independent thinkers or reducing their individuality. The coercive tactics deployed during the COVID crisis have achieved both, as evidenced by extensive studies in The Indoctrinated Brain.
The resulting unprecedented mortality, not attributable to infections alone, and the significant loss of mental and psychological capacity across society due to targeted attacks on the center of autobiographical memory, reveal a strategy both cunning and scientifically sophisticated. The assault has severely compromised humanity’s mental and psychological immune system, which would have otherwise shielded it from deep-seated manipulation and indoctrinated personality changes. Recovery and safeguarding against future assaults are contingent upon our understanding of the source and precise nature of these attacks. (Emphasis mine, E.R.)
The hippocampus, our center for autobiographical memory, is the focal point of this assault. Unlike short-term memory, which relies on brain waves in the prefrontal cortex and is easily disrupted, only the long-term memory stored in the hippocampus has the ability to instantly and permanently catalog new thoughts and experiences. The hippocampus tracks the when, where, what, and how we felt about our experiences and thoughts. This autobiographical memory is essential for forging an independent individuality, allowing us to compare new experiences with past ones, to reflect and learn, and also to plan and execute actions. A healthy hippocampus is crucial for the development of human individuality and creativity, serving as the foundation for both independent thought and forward planning. Simply put, without the hippocampus, we are without a past and devoid of any concept of the future.11
Hippocampal place and time neurons are pivotal in remembering the where and when of new memories. These neurons are lifelong residents of the hippocampus, essential for piecing together memories when needed and for pinpointing where and when we encountered or contemplated something significant. The significance is marked by the emotions associated with the experience or thought.
I refer to them as ‘index neurons’ because they organize our memories, and without them, recalling past memories and thoughts would be impossible. Creating a new thought necessitates the generation of new index neurons. A lack of fresh neurons leads to a state known as ego depletion, characterized by mental fatigue. In this state, we shy away from entertaining new thoughts due to a sheer lack of mental storage capacity. An extraordinary process called adult hippocampal neurogenesis, involving the creation of new neurons (neurogenesis) in the adult hippocampus, ensures the daily regeneration of new place and time neurons, or index neurons, during deep sleep. This regeneration makes us receptive and open to new experiences each morning, a capacity that could extend into old age.
”Could,” because this neurobiological mechanism became a prime target for personality-changing indoctrination. since it is elemental to human individuality and creativity, as well as to the maintenance of the many other functions of autobiographical memory (such as psychological resilience, natural curiosity, self-esteem, and critical thinking skills). Attacking this process has dramatic consequences for both the individual and society as a whole, as the following diagram illustrates.
Vicious cycle of Indoctrination Attack on the mental immune system
Before the onset of COVID-19 in 2019, adult hippocampal neurogenesis had hit a record low, a consequence of the increasingly unnatural lifestyles led in our modern society, as I elaborate in my book The Exhausted Brain.12 Chronic fatigue, depression, and Alzheimer’s disease were simultaneously at unprecedented highs—a predictable outcome when recognizing these conditions as neuropathological effects of this deviation in our cultural evolution (refer to “Unified Theory of Alzheimer’s Disease’”13. It’s plausible that the technocratic actors pinpointed the end of 2019 to initiate their assault on autobiographical memory, leveraging the already diminished individualization due to pre-existing hippocampal damage, thus capitalizing on the significantly weakened mental immune system of society.
This backdrop likely facilitated the unchallenged acceptance of illogical and detrimental policies by a vast segment of the population, including the uptake of an experimental gene therapy despite glaring risks. The mental fortitude to resist such measures was overwhelmingly insufficient among the masses. As detailed in The Indoctrinated Brain, this resistance was further eroded. For instance, the incidence of depression, already at a zenith in 2019, tripled in the first year of the COVID program alone.14 The collective and individual mental immune systems were further compromised and enduringly impaired by COVID-related interventions, evidenced by a diminished natural curiosity, eroded psychological resilience, lowered self-esteem, and an escalating incapacity for critical thought.
The significant impairment of the hippocampus’s various functions (refer to graphic) has left humanity more susceptible to additional assaults, elevating the risk that even a distinctly anti-freedom “operating system” might be imposed on people’s minds without objection—a prospect Prince Charles labeled as a “golden opportunity” for a Great Reset as early as June 2020.19
The process of overwriting index neurons stems from an evolutionary emergency mechanism. This survival program activates during acute ego depletion (which has become chronic for many in today’s society) due to frequently disrupted hippocampal neurogenesis. It ensures that even in states of mental exhaustion, individuals can navigate perilous situations. By repurposing previously utilized index neurons, the brain permanently loses access to certain past memories in perceived dangerous contexts, effectively resulting in their deletion. However, the critical survival function is to encode the precise details of an acute crisis in the hippocampus. This encoding allows for comparison with past events or experiences, enabling appropriate responses based on the principle that losing some memories is preferable to losing one’s life.
Fear propaganda exploits this emergency override mechanism to implant a new paradigm for coexistence. This dual-phase strategy—first, halting the generation of index neurons and then replacing the remaining index neurons with technocratic narratives—poses a real risk that in the ongoing state of perma-pandemics20 and perma-crises, as forecasted in the WEF’s Risk Report 2023, there will be a systematic and complete replacement of the individuality-shaping index neurons with technocratic ideologies. Such a shift forebodes the total breakdown of society’s mental or psychological immune system.
As genuine individuality dwindles, eroding the foundation of proactive, innovative creativity, humanity’s capacity to effectively resist such assaults on its liberty diminishes. Anyone challenging these prevailing narratives in the presence of individuals thus indoctrinated may find their skepticism perceived not just as a dispute of the narrative but as a personal attack,
