Netanyahu: I want Trump to help us reach a two-state solution

Watch: PM says Trump a friend of the Jewish people, expresses hope he will nix Iran deal – and pave the way for a Palestinian state.

By David Rosenberg, INN

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu expressed optimism about the incoming Trump administration and its ability to work with Israel on pressing matters in the Middle East, telling 60 Minutes he expected a more productive relationship with the President-elect than with his predecessor.

During the sit-down interview with Lesley Stahl, Netanyahu praised Donald Trump, saying his support for the Jewish state “is clear”, and referencing Trump’s recent statements regarding his “warm feelings” towards Israel.

“I know Donald Trump. I know him very well. And I think his attitude, his support for Israel is clear. He feels very warmly about the Jewish state, about the Jewish people and about Jewish people. There’s no question about that.”

In contrast, Netanyahu mentioned the “differences of opinion” between himself and outgoing President Barack Obama, citing the Iranian nuke deal.

President Trump, he suggested, would be far more inclined to dismantle the Iran nuclear agreement – something Trump himself claimed on the campaign trail.

But aside from signaling some enthusiasm in discussing the Iran issue with the President-elect, the Prime Minister said he also hopes the warmer ties with the White House could enable progress on the diplomatic front – and even a final status agreement including the establishment of a Palestinian state.

“I’m willing to negotiate with [the Palestinian Authority] at any moment,” said Netanyahu. “I haven’t reversed my position. I’ve said, ‘Look, we will solve this because we want two nation states at peace and with the proper security arrangements.’ Two states for two peoples…. that’s where I’m focused.”

“I’d like to have President Trump, when he gets into the White House, help me work on that. I’d like to see if the Arab states can help me achieve that. It’s a new reality. A new possibility.”

Of course the pompous ass is dumb like a brick, yet I always had a soft spot specially reserved for AB, saw it every morning as I flushed. He was and is that relevant to me.
We could have had Jewish Law applied for the whole of Eretz Israel if the Peresite-kibutznik caterva would not have blocked that. AB was always ready to mumble idiocies to help the unJews along. Netanyahu is the boy that volunteered to work for them.
Right now el fantastico is jumping all over to prevent Mr. Trump to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem.
That would mean that the trash will have to move all Israeli Government offices to Jerusalem as well.
    Oh boy!

  2. @ Economist:
Clearly, deterrence will only come as an accidental byproduct of preparations to take them out. We saw that during the Iraq and Afghanistan war, Iran suspended it’s nukes and Quadafy came over to our side; he gave up his WMDs and stopped sponsoring terror, and began helping to identify and catch terrorists. Obama/Clinton only overthrew allies with enemies waiting in the wings. This is substantive if not pro forma treason. But, the point is that if we aim for compromise we will be forced to retreat. If we aim for supremacy, we may or may not get it, but we will make gains. You always get less than you aim for. So, you should shoot for the moon. Our goal should be total war on every level. And it is no danger for us and our allies to have nukes. It is a danger for our enemies to be allowed to have even slingshots. Nukes don’t kill people, Genocidal maniacs kill people. You dont’ have well-intentioned people on both sides or all sides now, as liberal anti-cold-war propaganda would have it, back when they were defending Russia , not using her as a scapegoat and red herring (no pun intendedl)

“Since when do economists design naval fleets? Me thinks you are much into braggadosio without the benefit of complete truth?”
Since the 1980’s when I did it for the US Navy under defense contract to my then employer, Litton Industries, for the FDL, LHA, and DD-963 fleets. You forget that in its heyday DOD was run by Engineering Economist wonks including Secretary McNamara and my colleague Alain Enthoven. Prior to that I held a research contract from the Office of Naval Research on the Polaris nuclear missile submarine fleet, which I had the pleasure of boarding in Holy Loch, Scotland.

SUBJECT: Info on Israel airplane purchases

It is unclear if Israel’s planes will be able to deliver nuclear bombs. Israel is believed to be the Middle East’s sole nuclear-armed power, though it has never acknowledged it.

While the technology can seem dazzling, there have been questions over whether the plane will be worth the cost.

A list of flaws have been uncovered, including one where pilots who weighed less than 136 pounds (62 kilos) risked being killed by its eject system.

There have also been software bugs and technical glitches, though Lockheed Martin assures such issues have been overcome.

Some in Israel have also said the price of the planes will limit the number that can ultimately be purchased, while losing any in combat will be particularly costly.

There have also been questions over whether upgrades to the air force’s fleet could have sufficed.

But the F-35 was “the only game in town” since Israel relies so heavily onUS defence aid, said Yiftah Shapir of Israel’s Institute for NationalSecurity Studies.

“We couldn’t go and buy French or British or Russian,” he said. “When you have an ally like the United States, the United States would not have allowed that.”

This is the problem and must be addressed and soon..We cannot continue to be held hostage to America. Maybe Trump will cut us off as a cost cutting measure??? I hope so and there are options there are always options.

Hmmm are we speaking of the same product I posted or some other product developed by other sources???? Must always compare oranges to oranges right, professor? I have searched for references to the Israeli product since 2010 and have come up blank so it might have been rendered classified so who knows today what they have developed since that first blurb back then…??? Israel has successfully evaded Russian and Arab radars in many attacks and were apparently not detected or shot at so without the F-35 it seems we have mastered some forms of stealth whether such coating is now used or through electronic jamming or some combination I can’t say but we unlike America tend to be highly innovative at a fraction of the cost…. We learned a lot from the Japanese in building better mousetraps based on existing technologies and platforms.

“NEW STEALTH NANO-PAINT TURNS ANY AIRCRAFT INTO A RADAR-EVADING STEALTH PLANE
By Clay Dillow July 14, 2010 Popular Science Magazine

    I googled: stealth paint

It’s made by an Israeli company, ‘natch. Who knows. They can probably fix whatever’s wrong. Problems in past have arisen when U.S. wouldn’t allow Israeli techs to get inside machinery and tinker.*

    http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2010-07/stealth-paint-turns-any-aircraft-radar-evading-stealth-plane

I understand the next and latest new development underway is a stealth paint that enables students to sneak into class late undetected. For which, another company is working on the equivalent of radar detectors and still another, radar detector detectors for academic stealth paint.

    https://www.google.com/search?q=spy+v.+spy&safe=active&espv=2&biw=1920&bih=1014&site=webhp&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiZitv50PLQAhWM7RQKHQgkC4oQ_AUIBigB#imgrc=2mFFo2PUiZ10iM%3A

Googling that also brought up a lot of irrelevant stuff. But not necessarily useless. Here’s another Hasbara site:

    http://strongandresolute.blogspot.com/p/how-israel-saves-world.html

  19. @ yamit82:
I was in charge, while working for Sperry Defense Systems, Phoenix, AZ, USA, of the initial co production Program offered Elbit by Sperry and General Dynamics for several F-16 LRU’s, including the MFD, SMC as well as the IEFCC, Israeli Enhanced Fire Control Computer. With MTLAM, a specialized firm then nearby, we controlled the co production of F-16 brake parts.
With two terrific pros from Sperry we helped Elbit to start the HUD Program now well into 5G aircraft production. I will not visit what we know about many specifics on those Programs.
Bottom line. The F-16 remains part of my life since the late 1970’s and hold close friendship with giants of technology hailing from General Dynamics, Rome USAFB, etc.
Today’s F-16’s and F-18’s are vastly superior to the winged thing called F-35.
That is why the US Purchasing Agencies are seriously considering returning to buying those two marvels.
Guess at which USAFB the F-18’s we at times supported had a home? 🙂
Once we concluded the F-16 co pro contract I was called back home to be part of the Senior Staff in control of several F-15E LRU’s design and production. That is another dream aircraft. The MPDP LRU was later opted into several of the stealth aircraft that do work.

  20. @ Bear Klein:

    https://www.sofmag.com/f-35-vs-f-16/

Compare Stats for F-35 and F-16 then add that the plane unproven so far, is not better than F-16 when you eliminate stealth qualities and advantages which is now a fact in the New Russian S-400. Israel should have opted for the Boeing updated F-15 with semi stealth attributes. IAI could have co-produced the plane with little to no restrictions.

  21. @ Economist:
There ya are… And fortunately you are never gonna be one of the deciders. In turn the upcoming deciders decided to have Lockheed shed 2 billion in one day with reference to the F-35 Program or whatever that abortion is.
The good nus is that Israeli pilots managed to bring that thing to take of and even land in one piece, piece of what? That is already also decided. 🙂

  22. Economist Said:

Fortunately the deciders use substance, not hope.

In every category The F-16 outperforms the F-35 with the exception of stealth and for a fraction of the cost Less than $20 million per aircraft including training and ground support.

F-35’s only real advantage is that it is supposed to be stealthy but as I have explained and shown in previous comments the Russians have updated their radar capabilities in the S-400 to reduce significantly or totally any stealth advantage to the F-35 making the plane obsolete and less effective than the F-16’s latest models. Now after investing so far over a trillion dollars in a failed concept nobody involved is going to buck the party line that they have made terrible and vry costly mistakes and refuse to admit their error so they will continue to compound them. I do not want Israel to buy into the American Bullshit and mistakes….. We can do much better for a lot less. Major problem is that the F-35 was conceived over ten years ago and by the time the plane as yet unproven, was produced the enemy meaning the Russians and maybe other nations have improved missile and radar technologies so for a fraction of the cost can now counter and defeat all of the major G 5 advantages touted by developers and current advocates…. Most know the truth and the rest will sooner than later. Trump may already understand the problem and may reverse course…. That’s my hope 😛 Truth is that superior avionics and weapons systems more important than air frame platforms.

Elbit (Israel) makes the Helmets for the F-35 now Israel knows how to defeat the F-35

  23. Some folk have shown us that they have been well trained to cut and glue somebody else’s predigested blabber.
Some others… have been at Luke, more than once and heard statements in classic militareeze to CTA’s as well, albeit on another aircraft that actually flew into combat and is still front line and that will be likely selected to set aside extended purchases of the F-35.
Over a trillion bucks dumped into the that black hole called F-35 and it is still not completely operational over 20 years later.
I doubt it will ever be worthy as a fleet aircraft.
A V-22 and F-111 combined and painted on cubic schemes.

  24. There is nothing that I have seen from maneuvering an F-35 in a tactical environment that leads me to assume that there is any other airplane I would rather be in. I feel completely comfortable and confident in taking that airplane into any combat environment,” Lt. Col. Matt Hayden, 56th Fighter Wing, Chief of Safety, Luke AFB, Arizona, told Scout Warrior in a special pilot interview.

Furthermore, several F-35 pilots have been clear in their resolve that the multi-role fighter is able to outperform any other platform in existence.

  27. @ yamit82:
I carefully observed today’s actual flight of the two F-35’s manned by the Israeli Air Force wing commanders. It was a basic take of, low altitude loitering, very modest directional and altitude changes and landing. No clouds in the Negev… No signs of the aircraft being armed.
Operational assignments may be more than a year away. After astronomical cost simulation training and OTJ training that is.
Sperry Marine and Avionics Defense Systems and General Dynamics built some of the test and training systems for the earlier models of the F-16. Those were basic compared to the 5th generation aircraft ones.
Still no pilots candidates gained access to aircraft controls for several months.
I hope for the best with the F-35. Hope based on very little substance so far.

    Friday, December 9, 2016
Unlike others Israel declined to have pilots actually fly the F-35 – only simulators for a year

[Dr. Aaron Lerner – IMRA: OK. I’ll be cynical? One good reason not to let the pilots actually fly the F-35’s is that they would report back to Israel what they think about the real jet’s performance – or lack thereof. It would be hard to prevent ministers and others from finding out.]

Israeli pilots have been training at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona for more than a year, but unlike F-35 compatriots from the US, Norway, Australia and other nations who are actually flying the fifth-generation fighter, Israel
has elected to limit pilot training to course work and the high-fidelity simulator built by prime contractor Lockheed Martin.

We may recall that somebody in out vaunted military was interested on also buying the V-22. Apparently many disintegrated and there was none for sale.
