Nearly 80 percent of Turkey’s Kurds against ‘self-governance’

A recent survey conducted by the Objective Research Center (ORC) has revealed that 78.9 percent of Turkey’s Kurdish population is against a ‘self-governance’ system for the Kurds, proposed by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and PKK terrorist organization.

The research was conducted by surveying 3,197 people between Dec. 27 and Jan. 6 in 23 provinces, which are mostly Kurdish populated.

The survey showed that while 84.5 percent of those participated in the research supported the reconciliation process, more than 80 percent opposed the ditches dug in Turkey’s southeastern districts by PKK terrorists and 69 percent calls the PKK a ‘terrorist’ group. In addition, 70.8 percent of the Kurdish population said that the HDP is politically affiliated with the PKK terror organization, while 61 percent disagreed that the HDP is the sole representative of the Kurdish population.

The survey also showed significant support among the Kurds for the presidential system, which has been a hot topic discussed in Turkey’s politics. While 60 percent supported presidential system, 84.5 percent also favors the need for a new constitution.

Formed in 1978, the PKK has been fighting the Turkish state for an independent state until the early 2000’s. The group then shifted its goal to autonomy in predominately Kurdish inhabited regions of Turkey. The PKK, considered a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and the EU, resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July.

The HDP lost nearly 10 percent of its votes in the Nov. 1 general elections, which analysts blame the downfall on the party’s rhetoric siding with PKK violence.

  1. It is understandable why the Turkish State – particularly with the Islamist AKP outfit at its helm – would seek to dispense this kind of propaganda.
Most certainly, the forces of Islamisation have a clear interest in ensuring that Western Counter-Jihadists & Zionist activists have their minds poisoned against those who should be their natural allies – the PKK-esque Kurds.

It seems reasonably clear from the languaging it employs, that Daily Sabah is essentially a mouthpiece for the Turkish regime. Also, a simple Google search of the “Objective Research Center” suggests a market research firm which produces statistics which are remarkably congenial to AKP policies.

Let’s have a slightly closer look at this blather:-

A recent survey conducted by the Objective Research Center (ORC) has revealed that 78.9 percent of Turkey’s Kurdish population is against a ‘self-governance’ system for the Kurds, proposed by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and PKK terrorist organization.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. And “research” which states that an overwhelming majority of an ethnic group which has been systematically oppressed for decades opposes a measure which would bring it greater empowerment, is not merely believable but is in fact “objective”.
    Ignorance is strength.

I add the observation that the HDP and its members are being constantly threatened by Erdogan and his gang. I also observe that terrorist organisations are not prone to declaring unilateral ceasefires or to issuing apologies on occasions when their actions have resulted in civilian deaths. Nor are terrorist organisations generally known for rescuing 10s of 1000s of Yezidis trapped by ISIS on Mount Sinjar.

The research was conducted by surveying 3,197 people between Dec. 27 and Jan. 6 in 23 provinces, which are mostly Kurdish populated.

“3,197 people” – Hmmm. Kurds, or Turkish soldiers?

The survey showed that while 84.5 percent of those participated in the research supported the reconciliation process, more than 80 percent opposed the ditches dug in Turkey’s southeastern districts by PKK terrorists and 69 percent calls the PKK a ‘terrorist’ group. In addition, 70.8 percent of the Kurdish population said that the HDP is politically affiliated with the PKK terror organization, while 61 percent disagreed that the HDP is the sole representative of the Kurdish population.

Putting aside the fact that those “digging ditches” – a euphemism for community self-defence deployed by Turkish propagandists – are actually members of the YPS (Civil Protection Units), surely the embedded absurdities here are fairly obvious.
Daily Sabah expects its readers to accept that a huge majority of Kurds – though it must be highlighted that the article refers to “… those [who] participated in the research…”, and not to Kurds per se – support the “reconciliation process” while a significant minority see organisations which they supposedly view as “terrorist” or “terrorist affiliated” as being their “sole representative”.

Hmmm. Anyone’s brain turned to jelly yet?

Quite how all these statistics can possibly be congruent is a question best left for a market research firm based in Ankara.
