Muslim Convert Convicted in Plot to BEHEAD Pamela Geller Is RELEASED

The Muslim Who Plotted to Behead Me Has Been Freed. But I’m Not Going to Stop Fighting for Justice. Nicholas Rovinski, who plotted to behead me, is free.

In 2015, Rovinski and his two coreligionists, Usaamah Abdullah Rahim and Daoud Wright, plotted to behead me for violating the speech laws under Islam. En route to this jihad slaughter, Rahim was killed after he was stopped for questioning in Boston and threatened officers with a large knife. Rovinski and Wright were arrested and imprisoned.

But now Rovinski is free. The grounds? A “compassionate release” because of coronavirus, of course.

Rovinski’s lawyers argued that the 29-year-old’s cerebral palsy and hypertension made him vulnerable to COVID-19. The fact that virus is sweeping the non-incarcerated population would seem to make him no less vulnerable on the outside, but that argument would fall on deaf ears. He is remanded to home confinement.

And so I, who was threatened with beheading, can try to sleep at night knowing that the man who wanted to kill me is free. How does Judge William Young, who freed Rovinski, know that this jihadi won’t try to murder me again? He doesn’t. But he clearly doesn’t care. The “compassion” in Rovinski’s “compassionate release” is all for the perpetrator, not for his intended victim or others he might have killed in his jihad as well.

Does Judge William Young not realize the gravity, the seriousness, the implications of freeing someone who plotted a beheading for a cartoon or piece of art that violated Islamic law? Does he not realize, or not care about, the freedom of speech?

Boston Herald article: Reform needed, but not at expense of crime victims

Maybe he doesn’t. After all, it is under attack on numerous fronts today. Maybe William Young is one of those people who believe in the spurious concept of “hate speech,” which is an entirely subjective thing, essentially a weapon of the powerful to smear and silence those who lack power.

And so, although I objected most strenuously, I got no say in the matter.

Has the US government softened on beheading anyone for a cartoon or piece of art that violates Islamic law? The First Amendment is our most precious freedom. Nicholas Rovinski should be serving a life sentence.

His release shows anew the urgency of our work. For well over a decade, we have stood strongly for the freedom of speech and the equality of rights of all people while the world has been befogged by cowardice and ignorance. Young’s ruling shows the all-pervasiveness of that fog.

We’re not backing down. We’re going to fight for freedom more strongly than ever. But we can’t do all this and our other work in defense of freedom without you: YOU are the one who makes it all happen. But at a time when the political and media elites are more compromised than they ever have been in American history, our work has never been more crucial.
