Robert Barnes had predicted that the Lake appeal would be rejected in its entirety upon appeal. As Turley shares, Barnes tweeted that the victory with regards to the factual review of the signature match is a ‘massive victory’. Barnes has previously gone on record to state that there is no possibility that the signature match review would not result in a new election ie, that it would result in a new election. Traditionally, this is the test by which election contests are tested due to the unimpeachable evidence available. As he has noted, the other matters raised by Lake are extremely persuasive but the true test of victory was lost when the judge refused to allow her to challenge the signature matches which never made any sense. Again, this is a huge victory.
