Liberman: ‘Bennett received a generous offer – he must not pass it up’

MK Liberman urges Yamina chief MK Bennett not to miss opportunity to be first in rotation for prime minister: ‘Netanyahu will try to eliminate him.’

ARUTZ SHEVA

MK Avigdor Liberman, who chairs the Yisrael Beytenu party, on Saturday night told Israel’s “Meet the Press” program that Yamina Chairman MK Naftali Bennett must not miss his opportunity to become prime minister.

“Bennett knows this as well as I do – the moment he comes in, [Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu will try to eliminate and swallow him,” Liberman said.

“Bennett received a fair and generous offer – to be first in the rotation and to have an equally-controlled government – and he must not miss this opportunity. No one knows as well as he does that the moment he joins a government with Netanyahu, he will need to turn around and make sure his back is covered.”

“Everyone understands that the most horrible option is fifth elections,” Liberman added.

“Since we need to focus on a very small number of issues, economy, security, and reforming the health system, there are no ideological differences. On Iran as well there are no ideological disagreements. Therefore, despite everything, we can form a good and functional government.”

Naftali Bennett reportedly revealed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when they met on Thursday night that he would be willing to give up his campaign promise to not sit in a government backed by the Ra’am (United Arab List) Party in order to prevent a fifth election.

  1. From today’s Arutz Sheva:

Rabbi Haim Amsalem slams Chief Rabbinate conversion decision
Prominent advocate for converts to Judaism criticizes Chief Rabbinate decision to cancel list of courts whose conversions are recognized.

    Rabbi Haim Amsalem
Rabbi Haim Amsalem, chairman of the Am Shalem movement, and founder of the International Conversion Court “Ahavat Hager” (Loving the Convert) on Monday morning attacked the decision of the Chief Rabbinical Council to cancel the list of courts whose conversions are recognized and to examine each conversion individually.

“The new decision of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel not to recognize the conversions of rabbis from foreign congregations, who are completely Orthodox halakhic rabbis, and to take on the authority not to recognize other conversions, which were not approved by it, is a decision that goes against what is written in the Shulchan Aruch (Code of Jewish Law),” Rabbi Amsalem stated.

According to him, “conversion that is done according to the law and halakha (Jewish Law) cannot be revoked. Non-recognition by the Rabbinate is the same as its revocation, and the consequences of revoking conversion are very serious.”

“This is another unfortunate decision that aims to bully and abuse converts. It goes against the Torah’s warning against harming and abusing converts,” Rabbi Amsalem claimed.

Rabbi Haim Amsalem called on all Zionist parties which care about the welfare of the Jewish people to put at the forefront the issue of the conversion problem concerning half a million “seed of Israel,” descendants of Jewish ancestors who are not halakhically Jewish and who seek to join the Jewish people and are being rejected.

“Assimilation is a ticking time bomb and the establishment is only exacerbating the problem,” he emphasized.

The shiniest-extremist rabbinate is empowering Liberman, the Reform and Conservative movements, Meretz and Labor (now allied with Reform) and even Ra’am, since the Muslim clergy encourage conversion of Jews to Islam.

  2. I mean, think about it? If America could have had endless elections with Trump remaining as caretaker President, wouldn’t that have been preferable to what you have now? And don’t talk to me about the cost of everybody taking the day off? Isn’t that trivial by comparison?

  3. Liberman is the sole cause of the gridlock that lead to 4 elections and the best option is the fifth election.
