JPOST in an editorial on the appointment of Ron Dermer as Israel’s ambassidor to the US, which they titled, “The Right Stuff” said,
-
“As Israel’s main diplomat in the US, he will be well aware that the majority of Israelis – like their government – remain in favor of and committed to a two-state solution.”
I am not so sure our government is committed to it, though Netanyahu probably is.
Six months ago, JPOST reported on a poll commissioned by Blue and White Future which found,
-
“According to the survey, 58 percent of Israelis would prefer to see Israel remain as a Jewish, democratic state through fixed borders along the route of the West Bank security barrier, with Israel preserving its character alongside a demilitarized Palestinian state.”
This poll is misleading and purely academic. The fence would give Israel all of Jerusalem and about 10% of J&S. Such a deal isn’t remotely available. So the poll is irrelevant.
The true question is, do you accept a TSS based on ’67 lines plus swaps with a divided Jerusalem.”. Other polls have shown the answer to be no.
Furthermore when a Prime Minister of Israel comes out against a Palestinian state and gives his reasons, Israelis will support him.
Yup – the JPost pretends the Middle East is Europe and that if only the Arabs were given their own state they would stop hating the Jews and cease subverting their own neighbors.
Misleading, indeed.
