One fundamental lesson of the 10/7 catastrophe. Self-reliance.

I would take your statement even further than the very well made point you made about national self-reliance, as October 7 demonstrated the need for personal self-reliance as well. The people of the Gaza envelop were cornered in their homes, left defenseless, alone and cut off from any assistance for hours. Those few who had guns with which to face the invading terrorists were too few and to provide a defense for the community. The Israeli people must come to accept that they must be able to withstand such attacks as took place on October 7. Each person should be trained and equipped with the means of defending their home as if they have no means of support from the outside. Think of what might have come about if the attacking Hamas had found the people of the Gaza envelop armed and ready to fight rather than being forced to find refuge in unlocked safe rooms waiting for their murderers to slaughter them for sport. Individuals should take on the personal responsibility of providing for their own defense, and thereby provide a contributing element to the defense of their community and the nation. Indeed, Self-reliance was a fundamental lesson which was taught on October 7, and it is important that such hard taught lessons as this should lead to a brighter, safer and more secure tomorrow.

  2. One fundamental lesson of the 10/7 catastrophe. Self-reliance.
IL should come with new tech making aircraft fighters obsolete.
The power of imagination is limitless!

  3. Israel can make everything or buy from another source all weapons/weapons systems/ammunition – however these four below are more difficult.

5th generation fighter aircraft like the F-35
Advanced air independent submarines like the last three Dolphins
    Apache attack helicopters
    Missiles

Subs – They could build the subs but it would very expensive. If they were to do so they might as well make them nuclear. They also could buy diesel subs from Japan instead of Germany.

Helicopters – They could buy attack helicopters from other countries but they are less capable than US Apaches. They could modify helicopters from many countries.

The F-35 – This is the most difficult. I would doubt Russia or China would be reliable suppliers of these aircraft. Europe only makes 4th gen fighters. To make them in Israel would eat up an enormous amount of Israel’s budget so maybe the best bet is buy 4th Gen aircraft from other nations and modify them to Israel’s taste. Some people say the F-35 is a bad weapons system but that is a lie. Israel uses these all the time and their stealth factor has allowed Israel not lose any aircraft. Israel’s opponents can’t even find them in the air. They go on their mission and are back in Israel before anyone even knows they were there.

Missiles – The US is involved in some of Israel’s missiles. Israel could end that.

  4. How long for Israel to achieve military self-reliance? It depends on how bad Israel wants it. It’s more a matter of political will rather than of resources. As long as Israel’s closest “ally”, and munitions supplier, is trying to kill it by imposing a two-state solution, Israel should not delay.
