The failure of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to move forward with his sovereignty plan at the beginning of July is the result of “disagreement” with the US over the plan, says former US National Security Advisor John Bolton, who singled out President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner as the key opponent to Israeli plans to apply sovereignty.

In an interview with Galei Tzahal’s Efi Triger which was released Tuesday morning, Bolton said that Kushner opposes unilateral actions by Israel, including the application of sovereignty in parts of Judea and Samaria.

“I think there’s obviously a disagreement. Jared is still trying to sustain his peace plan and he’s worried about unilateral action or American recognition of unilateral action. Personally, I would go ahead and do it.”

Bolton added that he will not backing either Trump or Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential election, and said that the election season is an “optimal time” for Israel to move forward with its “own national security interest”.

“I’m not advocating the election of Joe Biden. For me, in November, I’m going to write-in the name of a third person. It’s not a happy election for me.”

“I think the next few months are an optimal time for Israel to act in its own national security interests.”

  1. I do not like the Swiss cheese arrangements. It brings the Jews and Muslims to close proximity. Danish propose to build roads connecting isolated Arab villages. Threatens to create a one state solution with a Muslim majority.
Suggest creating legal ‘options’. Let conflicting parties choose military or Israeli jurisdiction case by case. Do Annex 10 mile N-S corridor adjacent to the Jordan down to Jerico and beyond surrounding the Arabs. Unless the Swiss cheese arrangement is only a first step to squeeze out the Arabs, it’s a Lebanon solution for disaster.
What is clear is that even with world opinion behind Abbas and a 2-state solution, he still will not negotiate. Israel needs to forge ahead with its own best interests in mind and tell the world to do the usual: nothing at all.

  2. Go home from the dance with who brought you. The Democrats close ranks and support their nominee 100%. But the Republicans have people like Bolton, Romney, Kasich, The Bushes , and Kristol who desert their Conservative Principles because of petty unimportant things like tweeting and demeanor. Dumb, dumb, dumb. This President is totally Pro Israel. Pro Originalist Judges. Pro strong military. Pro Capitalism.

  3. @ Ted Belman:
You expect Bolton to name his source. You must be kidding Ted. Bolton is on an active anti DJT campaign and it is very likely Kushner and him have clashed. However, this is NOT the first time we have heard Kushner is stopping Israel from getting sovereignty approval by the USA.

I agree with Bolton, Israel as a sovereign nation should do what is in its best interests.

  4. Bolton doesn name his source.

First of all Bolton is not part of WH attempts to mislead the world on this subject.

Secondly, Kushner’s Plan supported unilateral action. Does this mean he is backtracking on his plan? Yes.I think he wasn’t prepared for the blowback to the uilateral move. But that doesn’t seem likely because Kushner has shown himself to be a fighter.
