Another very important statement by Sachs. I found his comment regarding Merckel to be rather an interesting one, namely that she was earnestly in support of Minsk back in 2014, but is only now amending that truth to suit the present political climate. There is a certain sense of rationale to support her doing so. Recall that the Germans held the greatest risk in any confrontation with Russia, due to their great dependency upon the Russian gas to fuel their successful economy. This great benefit of maintaining peace with Russia always placed Germany apart from her sister European nations, and also created a great deal of resistance to the less cautious European nations whose respective economies were either less wholly dependent upon Russia or far less robust. Consequently, any threat to the peace in Europe represented a disproportionately direct threat to the German people, and the German govt. Which is why the US blew up the pipeline.
