By Ted Belman
In 1921, The British government under Winston Churchill issued a White Paper recommending that the East Bank of the Jordan River be given to the Hashemites contrary to its disposition in 1920 at the San Remo Conference and in the Palestine Mandate as originally drafted. Prior to it being passed and signed by the League of Nations in 1922, Chaim Weizmann was given a choice; consent to its removal if you want the Mandate finallized. Weizmann and the Jewish Agency reluctantly agreed. Jabotinsky who was at the time in America setting up the Jewish National Fund, was adamantly opposed. He wrote this song often sung by the youth movement Betar.
-
Two Banks has the Jordan
As a bridge is held up by a pillar
As a man is kept erect by his spine
So the Jordan, the holy Jordan
Is the backbone of my Israel.
Two Banks has the Jordan –
This is ours and, that is as well.
Though my country may be poor and small
It is mine from head to foot.
Stretching from the sea to the desert
And the Jordan, the Jordan in the middle.
Two Banks has the Jordan –
This is ours and, that is as well.
From the wealth of our land there shall prosper
The Arab, the Christian, and the Jew,
For our flag is a pure and just one
It will illuminate both sides of my Jordan.
Two Banks has the Jordan –
This is ours and, that is as well.
My two hands I have dedicated to the homeland,
My two hands to sword and shield.
Let my right hand whither
If I forget the East Bank of the Jordan.
Two Banks has the Jordan –
This is ours and, that is as well.
And here we were, thinking Jordan just withdrew because they saw it was the right thing to do. . . .
(Gave Jordanian the opportunity to explain [Thread #11], but he/she seems to have declined the option.)
You’re quite correct, though, John. King Hussein was urged — repeatedly — to stay out of it.
Had he done so, eastern Jerusalem as well as the heartland provinces [“West Bank”] would still be in Jordanian hands today.
But Hussein got ridiculously bogus intel that Egypt was kicking Israel’s arse in the fighting, and he just couldn’t resist the impulse to pile-on.
Someone should correct the erroneous statements of Jordanian.
In the Six Day War – as I still remember vividly – Israel appealed to Jordan to stay out of the conflict. Jordan refused and commenced to attack Israeli positions in Jerusalem. Some of the fiercest fighting in the war then ensued before the Jordanian army was defeated and were forced to evacuate the “West Bank”. It is an insult to the memory of those brave Israeli soldiers who were killed to suggest that Jordan did “almost nothing but withdraw”.
How much of Egypt should the contemporary Egyptians give (back) to the Copts?
All of it. Egypt should not be an Islamic state which is something the so called Arab Spring has ushered in, just as it will in Syria and ultimately in Jordan. We are seeing the culmination of the century old Muslim Brotherhood plan coming to fruition supported by the West as our leaders have been too ignorant and ill informed to understand this long term plan. None of this has anything to do with the rights of the indigenous peoples of these lands and everything to do with Islamic world domination. If ever the phrase wake up cruel world was applicable it is now!
And WHY did she do “almost nothing in 1967 but withdrawal” (just for my information)?
— just withdrew. . . . out of the goodness of her heart,
right?
The present Egyptian population are in large part Muslim descendants of
A. those who came with the Saracen invasions from the Arabian peninsula, beginning shortly after the death of Muhammad in the 7th century;
B. also the Mamelukes, brought in by the Turks in the centuries before the Ottoman conquest.
These two groups took the land away from the original Egyptians — represented now mostly by persons of the same stock as today’s surviving Coptic Christians of Egypt.
How much of Egypt should the contemporary Egyptians give (back) to the Copts?

Ted, thank you for writing this piece. Perhaps this will clear up what I was trying to say when we were discussing the ^two state west of the river” article. What I was saying regarding going back into history before 1937 is exactly what you are saying here: The 2 state solution was already created the first time by The British swindle of the Jews in creating JEW FREE Jordan on 77% of the Palestine mandate territory. I was saying that discussing, and giving credibility to, the second 2 state solution: cutting off a further portion west of the Jordan and framing 2 state partition as beginning in 1937 was inimical to the whole narrative. Also, both 2 state solutins were illegal. It is the first creation of JOrdan, preceded by the treaty of San Remo which should be the basis of the legal discussion of any 2 state solution. All of the signatories of San Remo violated the treaty, of which they were guarantors, by accepting the Jordan severance. Any future agreements or declarations in conflict with the legally binding treaty of San Remo are legally invalid. furthermore, there is another important principle I have been saying which you illustrate here: agreements made under duress are not legally binding in law. The acceptance of the creation of JEW FREE Jordan by the Jews, the acceptance of the 1947 partition, the acceptance of res. 242, are all agreements made under duress. The Albion perfidy and the global collusion are simply extensions of the 2000 year slaughter of Jews and continue to be used as threats today by Obama. New leadership of Israel can repudiate all these agreements under this principle. The other point I was making was that the creation of JEW FREE Jordan on the Palestine territory de facto implies that the remaining 23% crumbs left for the Jews should be muslim free under their own reasoning. Furthermore, of utmost importance is the scandal of Jews discussing arab/muslim refugees while the ethnic cleansing of Jews from arab lands has been outstanding for decades. Finally, the slap in the face, created by the Jews themselves, is that every area, currently under the control of the muslims, of the former Palestine mandate territories is currently JEW FREE; including Jordan, gaza and west bank areas. The events from the Balfour declaration and the UK con artistry concerning the League of Nations trust declarations should be required knowledge for every Jew and Israeli. Britain got its swindle, using fine print, acceptable in the trust by having it declared the trustee with the right of disposition of the territory. This trick of the “great” Winston Churchill enabled it to complete its plan of creating JOrdan with “apparent” League of Nations approval. As in any trust Britain was supposed to exercise with the interests of the Jewish people as the beneficiary. Therefore, Britain’s Trust violations, in principle, render its actions and effects illegal. The world would like to continue these swindles using the basis that it is in place. However, if Israel seizes territories, and Saudi oilfields for terror financing reparations, there will also be a done deal “in place”. Its time to reverse the swindles and cons against the Jews. It is time to repudiate publicly the threats of holocaust against the Jews that Obama is using this very moment. He is repeating the age old tactic of the Jew swindlers telling Israel that if you dont do what I say I will allow the mobs to slaughter you. What’s new?
Great posting. Thank you, and Tel-Hai!
by the way, Jordan did almost nothing in 1967 but withdrawal -just for your information.
Anyhow, why dont you just tell us your final plan so that we dont keep moving here and then, I am originally from the west of the river and my granparents moved to the east in 1948 ( I dont care what names shall we call these lands because according to you it is hard to define a name for a country in the middle east).
and now you said the boarders of israel is dynamic. why it is only israel that has such dynamic borders. Is this human to keep expanding. Egypt population has doubled the last 50 years and did not claim extra land from Libya or Sudan. What you said is a proof that your country is offensive and inhuman. Your understanding of History or the bible is not more important than any human being’s rights to live in peace in his oun country at least the one he was born.
No. The fact that Spain has place names with Arabic roots is further proof that Arabs have stolen other people’s lands, The Hebrew names of places in Israel confirm that this is the land given to the Jews by G-d Almighty. Incidentally, Jordan too is a Hebrew name and it is a river, not a country.
Spain Also has many places that is named from Arabic roots , should we claim for Spain also ??
Note that Jabotinsky writes in his song:
from the wealth of the land there shall prosper
The Arab, the Christian and the Jew
Note that Abu Abbas, Hanniyeh and every other leader of the Arabs of the old British Mandate of Palestine all abide by the Hamas and PLO charters that say not a single Jew will live in the land they will call Palestine. This is what is causing the big issue with Jews building of villages in the region west of the Jordan river. If the Arab leaders would not deny the right of Jews to live in any future country that might be agreed for them, if they were not calling for genocide of Jews, then maybe by now th they would be living in peace with Jews and Arabs alike, prospering in a trade federation agreement with Israel based in her first world technology and economy rather than living as refugees three generations after the event, with their wealthy cousins depriving them of a share of their oil revenues. Maybe they would be prospering like the Jews if they had taken a lesson from the almost one million Jewish refugees from Arab lands who were forced to run from their homes and businesses, some whose families had lived in places like Iraq for millennia and who have settled in Israel and other countries like America and Europe where they have become proud nationals of those countries. Maybe if the ordinary Arabs forced to live in squallor to meet the political ends of their leaders would rise against their leaders instead of supporting them, their children, like Israeli children, would have a bright future instead of living forever in poverty. So they must stop winging and speak to the only real friend they have in the region, and indeed in the world, and build a future together for all the people who live there. Jordan certainly cannot be left out of the equation as its creation has caused the real deprivation of people who emanate from that region and the Jews who have the ancient right to be there. The Rulers of Jordan do not come from the region and now they need to concede a place for the local Arabs to be full citizens with equal rights instead of running that elitist Apartheid state.
No, no, no.
Stay on the East Bank — but help the Hashemites & Arab Legion re-take the Hejaz, force the Saudis to share the Peninsula & the oil.
With the Hashemites gone, you’ll have Transjordanian Palestine to yourselves. Such a deal.
You Betcha!!!!! 😛
You could always move to Iraq voluntarily. Less messy.
The IDF traces its roots to Jewish paramilitary organizations in the New Yishuv, starting with the Second Aliyah (1904 to 1914). The first such organization was Bar-Giora, founded in September 1907. It was converted to Hashomer in April 1909, which operated until the British Mandate of Palestine came into being in 1920. Hashomer was an elitist organization with narrow scope, and was mainly created to protect against criminal gangs seeking to steal property. During World War I the forerunners of the Haganah/IDF were the Zion Mule Corps and the Jewish Legion, both of which were part of the British Army. After the Arab riots against Jews in April 1920, the Yishuv’s leadership saw the need to create a nationwide underground defense organization, and the Haganah was founded in June of the same year. The Haganah became a full-scale defense force after the 1936–1939 Arab revolt in Palestine with an organized structure, consisting of three main units—the Field Corps, Guard Corps and the Palmach. During World War II the successor to the Jewish Legion of World War I was the Jewish Brigade.
The IDF was founded following the establishment of the State of Israel, after Defense Minister and Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion issued an order on May 26, 1948. The order called for the establishment of the Israel Defense Forces, and the abolishment of all other Jewish armed forces. Although Ben-Gurion had no legal authority to issue such an order, the order was made legal by the cabinet on May 31.

To Jordanian – You didn’t read it correctly, not all of Jordan but rather the bank of the Jordan the land of Gilead (the hill region north of the Zarqa River. Gilead is spoken of:
A Song or Psalm of David. O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reaches unto the clouds. Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth; That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me. God has spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;
Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph.
Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts? Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
(Psalm 108:1-13)
(See also Psa 60:1-12)
The geography will always structure defensive lines. As the Jewish population increases step by step the lines are moving back to where they were in Biblical times. Now if Jordan stays at peace with Israel there will be no reason for the lines to move. Let’s see if Jordan repeats their 1967 stupidity. If they do then I suspect that once again Gilead will be Israel’s. Then the world can have opinions on who has the ‘East Bank’ rather than who has the ‘West Bank’.
