Israel: EU Attacks Us Because We’re Small

The EU is thus negating the provisions of Oslo and negating negotiations. The occupation is legal, the settlements are legal and Oslo and R242 permits both. The EU is our enemy. Ted Belman

By Gil Ronen, INN

Israeli officials on Tuesday slammed an EU directive that will bar all 28 member states from dealings with Jewish communities located beyond the 1949 Armistice lines, including eastern Jerusalem.

A high-ranking official, who requested anonymity, described the European Union’s move as a disproportionate “attack” on Israel.

“When it comes to disputed territories, the Europeans prefer to attack a small country like Israel instead of taking on more powerful states, because they’re afraid of retaliation.”

Israel was “only informed of the directive at the last moment,” he added.

The directive, due to be published on Friday and take effect from 2014, forbids EU member states from funding or dealing with Israeli communities in the Golan Heights, Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem, according to reports.

It requires a clear distinction to be made in all signed agreements, between Israel and the territories it occupied in the 1967 Six Day War.

EU spokesman David Kriss told AFP: “These are guidelines on the eligibility of Israeli entities and their activity in the territories occupied by Israel since June 1967 for grants, prizes and financial instruments funded by the EU from 2014 onwards.

“It makes a distinction between Israel and the entities in the West Bank, east Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights,” he said.

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Ze’ev Elkin told army radio the Europeans had made a “mistake” and that the directive would undermine any return to peace talks with the Palestinians.

“It’s a very worrying initiative launched at a bad time, because it only reinforces the Palestinians’ refusal to restart negotiations,” he said.

Kriss said the EU wanted Israel to cooperate fully with the directive to ensure its “participation in projects between 2014 and 2020.”

But Elkin told the Haaretz newspaper: “We are not ready to sign on this clause in our agreements with the European Union,” but admitted that the refusal could “halt all cooperation in economics… (and) cause severe damage to Israel.”

Palestinian leaders say they will only resume direct negotiations with Israel if they are held on the basis of the lines that existed before 1967, and if Israel freezes all settlement activity in Judea and Samaria.

Israel insists they must be held “without preconditions.”

Yesterday, Communications Minister Gilad Erdan accused the Palestinian Authority for setting unreasonable preconditions to talks, claiming they were seeking to start talks “from the finish line.”

  1. What I have noticed on this board is a tendency to pounce on anyone who does not start off his first post with “Kill the Arabs.”

Their second post should indicate a willingness that the Arab be beaten up before being executed.

Each successive post should increase in violence and temper against the Arabs.

Failure to do so will get one labelled, insulted and called an anti-Semite, and Muslim lover.

Any mention of Christ; and Yamit82 will call one a soul-stealer [a term that says more about Yamit than the person being insulted]. He just does not seem to grasp that if I want to convert Muslims, then I could not be a Muslim lover per se.

Any mention of reason, and one will be called anti-semitic.

If one points out that Israel is guilty of some – I do NOT say all – of the nonsense the Arabs pull, like using human shields, as that video shows, then one is accused of anti-semitism, when actually the only thing one is guilty of is showing balance.

Balance here gets one called a Muslim lover.

Thankfully,I realize that the group on Israpundit is not representative of all of Jewry, but probably slanted very much to the extreme right.

On pro-Palestinian boards, I have been accused of being a Mossad Agent, and an Israel stooge – or that worst insult of all – a stupid Shabbot Goy. Well, if I am a Shabbot Goy, I am sure Yamit82 would fire me the day after Sabbath.

Reason has fled all sides of this discussion.

I make no apology for trying to be reasonable; though I am slammed – by all sides – for it.

And what are the outrageous positions I take:

    1) Israel should live – Enough to get me slammed on pro-Palestine sites
    2) Israel should own all of Jerusalem – enough to get me slammed as a Mossad Agent on Pro-Palestine sites
    3) Israel should own all of Judea and Samaria – enough to be me slammed as Kach on pro-Palestine sites

The pro-Palestinians do not even like the idea that I use the term Judea and Samaria. They prefer West Bank.

    4) BUT … Israel should either pay the Palestinians to leave, or start enfranchising them with full civil rights – enough to get me called a Jew hater,pro-Arab, Muslim lover on this site.

This last one is enough to get me hammered by the pro-Israel side.

What I find truly amazing is the inconsistency on all sides.

On this site they accuse the Arabs of violating Oslo; but then in the next breath condemn Oslo, themselves.

On Arab sites, they accuse the Jews of racism; but the Arabs are far more racist than the Jews. Far more. The Arab countries have slaves.

I will be slammed for this post.

    But it is the truth.

Unlike you I publish under my own name. I am Irish. I live in Spain but seek a way to live in Ireland. I have 4 dogs all abandoned by Spanish to have passported to do so, as they cannot be abandoned again. You lie continually I do not ignore Spanish politics. Read my blog. I do not ignore the plight of animals. Read my blog http://www.themarxistblog.wordpress.com and you will find I speak the truth

Dervolin says because I fight for the Serbs against all that has happened to them I am a Serb. How crude!

This man CA began his entry with “Annex JandS”

Then I do believe he ended it the same. Twice!

Yet you attack him so brutally.

What exactly is it you want from non Jews? I feel you are a menace to the Jews because you attack this man AT THIS TIME, at this precise time when Antisemites in Europe are attacking and here is a man who obviously I disagree with politically on many things, but calls for Jews to annex J and S

Make fun and laugh if you are inclined

    but you are a menace.

    Your intuition is accurate.

    can you handle a 30.06?

From the age of 11. We stole a whole crate of military 30.06’s from the local JCC basement were they were placed many years before due to a fire in a nearby armory. Used to take them down to the river and shoot at the opposite bank till we were caught which ended our fun.

I though you and CB could have a “grand time” out there on the plains drinking beer and shooting drones. Away from the pressures of every day life.

    Sounds like fun. 🙂

Still interested in a road trip, can you handle a 30.06? I read in the newspaper the the little town of Deer Trail,Co is selling “drone permits”. They are also offering a bounty for every drone one shoots down. I though you and CB could have a “grand time” out there on the plains drinking beer and shooting drones. I dunno? Devolin once thought you were really a Serb but then he isn’t Jewish so I guess most Jews would agree without prejudice that you are what you claim to be … ‘an Irishman’. I still find it strange that you still live in Spain. You Seem to speak no Spanish or seem to care that your adopted country is going rapidly down the toilet. I agree that Ireland except for the folklore is so inconsequential that if it ceased to exist today NOBODY but NOBODY would notice or care if it did. Spain on the other hand going down thee toilet does have consequences that extend far beyond Spain, yet you never mention Spain where you live? Why not?

I know CA is a christian missionary with a blog dedicated to Diaper Heads in South America. He claims to be non denominational christian cult follower or leader?

You and CA have much in Common. Both follow and advocate for, religions, theologies and ideologies antithetical to Jews, Judaism and Israel.

Speaking now only for myself I have never asked nor advocated the baring or banning of anyone on this Blog with one exception and that person WAS banned but not because of or due to my opinion on the matter.

If you are really Irish, the offensive language you attribute to me and others would for most not even be noticed due to their comparative temperate nature to what is colloquial in Ireland and I’ve been there several times. ‘teigh transa ort fein’.

Two Irishmen, Paddy and Mick, decide to open a pub.

Bizarrely, it is a complete disaster. For reasons they cannot fathom, they have no customers. The pub is a failure – they are staring financial ruin in the face.

“Mick,” says Paddy, with an air of desperation, “I think we should close the pub and open a brothel.”

“Don’t be ridiculous, Paddy,” says Mick. “If we can’t sell beer, we’ll never sell soup.”

KKL-JNF to Oppose Shale Oil Extraction in Adulam

    Sunday, June 30, 2013
KKL-JNF will oppose plans to extract shale oil in the Adulam region.
KKL-JNF’s Board of Directors, led by Chairman Efi Stenzler, decided this week to oppose plans to extract shale oil in the Adulam region. The Board unreservedly adopted the report by the professional committee established by KKL-JNF to investigate the matter and headed by Board member and well-known leading environmental activist Dr. Orr Karassin.

are you expecting the same? if they have plans to reduce reliance then an interim situation which mitigates damage makes sense.

  14. @ bernard ross:

Two months ago Y Katz signed Open Skies agreement with the Eu and singed a clause that the territories were occupied territory. They pulled the same stunt when Olmert was PM. The Israeli government agreed to accept the santion and compensated Y@S and Gaza enterprises tht were economically injured. These sanctions will hurt the Diaper Heads who work for these industries by the ten if not hundreds of thousands in total and these workers are opposed to what the EU is doing because they know it will put them on the streets with no income to support their families.

I have heard reports that some Eastern European countries in the EU are opposed to these sanctions and have promised to block any in the future and to recind what was passed behind closed doors without their approvals.

I figure this was pushed for by Abbas as a means of pressuring Israel to accept negotiations with all of the preconditions the Palis have demanded. The EU has been threatening such a move for a long time so it should not come as a shock to anyone.

I agree with you about how Israel has behaved but on the other side, many of our businesses and Industries are still dependent on the EU market and economics and pressure from these concerns is not to be belittled in context of narrow national interests. Whatever else they might be Sharon, Olmert and BB are politicians maybe even Politicians first and foremost.

  15. honeybee Said:

trust me, oil talks and talk loudy.

The Arabs can’t afford to mess with their principle buyers. their own populations are growing along with economic demands. All of their regimes depend to a large extent on external protection and that includes NATO.

The Europeans and Americans also supply all the drilling equipment and replacements parts along with engineering expertise. The Arabs have given myriad of construction and technical projects to Europeans that even the Chinese can’t replace like projects of concerns like Siemens. The Russian can make up lot of what Opec might embargo as well as other suppliers even the Americans. They would in fact shoot themselves in the foot and they would not do that for the diaper head Palis who they all hate in any event.

Bottom line is they are in no position to cut off oil from Europe or anyone else. The Europeans knocked off Gaddafi and would do the same to the Saudis or any of the Gulf Emirates, if it came to that.

The Europeans aside from their inbred Jew hatred are opposed to the concept of individual Nation States. Israel could be the poster child depicting the classical nation state and therefore according to their NAZI world view and it is a Nazi world view, Israel must be destroyed because we as Jews cannot ever conform to their globalist ambitions being a Global Security state run by the Europeans.

  16. yamit82 Said:

For every move against Israel by the EU, counter moves mostly against the PA should be implemented first and then some against the EU where we don’t have much direct leverage.

I agree. I think that a great deal of damage has been done by GOI refusal to formally attack the libels of the EU and UN that Jewish settlement is illegal. I am upset that they never even call in the ambassadors to demand their cessation of libels and to demand that they adhere to their treaties obligating them to facilitate Jewish immigration and settlement in YS. We can see in the EU statement that the canard of illegal jewish settlement is the prime “legal” basis for their unilateral decision which shows it should not have been ignored. I have always advised that Israel should take unilateral decisions using the same legal bases for throwing out the EU and massively settling YS. By obstructing legal jewish settlement in YS they are violating international agreements and should be expelled and sued for damages. Certainly such suits would tie them up for years. although late,Shurat ha din should be employed to begin such actions against the EU in their own courts and in israel first as a delaying tactic and then as a basis for damages. But the pathetic GOI and so called nationalists will whine and do nothing while the left advises capitulation and compliance.

    ANNEX J&S.

We agree on so much: annexation and transfer. we only disagree on the details of method and responsibility to pay. Here is my suggested compromise: Annex, transfer using your method and mine together(forced transfer by bus or voluntary transfer through offering incentives). lets also compromise on incentive payments: Israel will pay transportation costs equal to the cost of bus ride to the borders and the EU, arabs, UN can pay the rest. If they dont pay then its busses to the border. See, this is a perfect example of compromise; lets call BB and tell him the problem has been solved and peace is about to commence. The world could learn much from our willingness to compromise.
BTW you never answered my question on the other forum as to why christians like yourself spend so much time on Israel and the pals but no time rescuing 9 year old christian girls from muslim gang rape in pakistan. do you think that now we have solved the pal issue so close to your heart that you might have time to save some christian children in pakistan?

  18. EU has its policies imposed by many agreements signed with the Euro-Arab Dialogue an OIC franchise. The critical path of those policies has 3 lanes that run in parallel: anti-americanism, anti-israelism/antisemitism and pro-palestinianism. The latter had been also called “palestinocracy”.

  19. yamit82 Said:

Why do you give a shit about their so-called enfranchisement?

In Jewish law, one is obligated to look after the ger toshav and see to their human needs. Nothing says they should be given a say in running the Jewish State! I don’t want Jew-hating Arabs to decide Israel’s future. Giving them voting rights was a big mistake. It should be abolished. Israel shouldn’t give them the kind of rights Arabs don’t even have in Arab countries. If the EU considers that apartheid, f*ck them! Israel’s first and foremost concern should be with preserving its existence, not with pleasing a Jew-hating Europe hungry for Arab oil.

  22. @ bernard ross:

    Exactly my scenario.

Fire all Arab workers replace them if needed with foreign workers. All losses to Israeli concerns including added costs of foreign labor should be paid by deducting equal amt from tax transfers to the palis. Let the EU pay them. Approve and adopt the Levy report and announce another 5000 housing starts, Better yet 10,000 housing starts. Replace all military checkpoints dismantled in the past 3-4 years. Bar all Arab Labor to Israel from the Y&S. Ban all EU NGO’s not only in the territories but in Israel proper as well.

Israel purchased between 15-20 billion dollars from Europe the Palis less than a billion. There is almost nothing we purchase from Europe we cannot find replacements in non European countries.

Boycotts against Israel long term were positive for us. Forced Israel to improve our products both in variety and quality, become aggressive in marketing, developing alternative markets and becoming industrially more self sufficient.

For every move against Israel by the EU, counter moves mostly against the PA should be implemented first and then some against the EU where we don’t have much direct leverage. Announce that Israel now negotiating gas and oil sales with non European nations.

They do NOT treat ANY other occupiers in this manner – only Israel does Edom single out for humiliation at Ishmael’s behest!

Its appropriate Jew-hating Europe issued an anti-Jewish edict on Tisha B’Av. This is NOT a coincidence.

  26. The Palestinians refuse to negotiate. Tell them they have 60 Days to return to the negotiating table without preconditions. When they do not annex all the Jewish Towns in Judah and Samaria.

The EU has made it easier for anyone who is not cowering to Europeans (who range from pro Palestinians to raging anti-Semites) to in diplomatic terms give them the one fingered salute.

  27. honeybee Said:

They are cowering dogs with their tails between their legs.

The GOI is the “cowering dog” who has pursued a policy of ignoring and appeasing the euronazi’s attacks. They have never even called in an ambassador to protest the libel of jewish illegal settlements according to treaty and law. If Israel never formally attacks the libels then what does one expect.

  28. The new directive, initiated in December by the EU foreign ministers, is “in conformity with the EU’s longstanding position that Israeli settlements are illegal under international law and with the non-recognition by the EU of Israel’s sovereignty over the occupied territories, irrespective of their legal status under domestic Israeli law,”

the EU said in a statement. I have never heard the GOI formally dispute these views.

In contrast, Labor’s Nachman Shai blamed misguided “forces in our government” for turning the international community against Israel through their settlement policies. These forces were gradually “costing us our independence,” said Shai. “The world is putting us under siege.”

this is the same reasoning to support the europeans in their holocaust against the jews. Shai advises acquiescence to appease the euronazis.

  29. The EU attacls Israel because it is so terrified of their Muslims. They are cowering dogs with their tails between their legs.
“A dog returns to its own vomit.”

  30. The EU is our enemy

although true, the greater enemy who has facilitated these absurdities is the willing and intentional collaboration of the state of Israel. There are and have been many moves which israel can and should have made. first, Israel should bar all direct connections of Eu with the PA and terrories, get the eu out of YS. Israel should demand the withdrawal of the libel of illegal jewish settlement observation of prior treaties. Israel should make certain that funding from eu to the PA will be accessible for suits of damages to Israel companies. Israel should clandestinely sabotage european economic interests including energy supplies.

“When it comes to disputed territories, the Europeans prefer to attack a small country like Israel instead of taking on more powerful states, because they’re afraid of retaliation.”

Israel has never done anything to fight these attacks. whining is not action. Make sure that the pals will suffer for every eu move. It is important to demonstrate that their attacks will result in opposite effects than desired.
It is interesting that they cannot get sanctions on Iran or hezbullah together but they can attack jews.
