Is it 1968 all over again?

Peloni:  Tierney penned a very intriguing analysis here.  Well researched and well argued.

Is 2024 a repeat of 1968? Sure looks like it to me. Let’s examine the parallels.

Seymour Hersh is a reporter who was recruited in late 1967 to handle the press and write speeches for Democrat Senator Eugene McCarthy of Minnesota. McCarthy sought the Democratic presidential nomination in the 1968 election, challenging incumbent Lyndon B. Johnson on an anti-Vietnam War platform. McCarthy unsuccessfully ran for U.S. president four more times.

Hersh is one of the few journalists with reliable sources on the inside of the Democrat party. In other words, what I’m writing in this newsletter has pretty much been confirmed by Hersh – so you know it’s true.

HERSH: On Monday, July 15, two days after the swamp FAILED to assassinate President Trump, Biden took off on Air Force One on a campaign trip to Nevada and gave the keynote address to the annual convention of the NAACP. The next day, Team Biden made a police escort race to Air Force One after initially telling police they were heading to the nearest ER.

At that point, Biden was “deathly pale” and Air Force One flew at maximum speed to Delaware, where Biden has a weekend retreat at the beach. The press pool was told that Biden had COVID. Nothing more was said on Air Force One. The White House told the public that Biden had contracted COVID and would be in isolation.

That was the last straw for a core group of big Democrat donors who were withholding huge amounts of money from the Biden-Harris campaign.

There was pressure on Democrat donors to come across on their pending commitments. They all knew that Biden had some kind of physical problem in Las Vegas and the Biden family was saying no to continued pressure to withdraw.

By Saturday, July 20, Obama became involved, and there was talk that he would place a call to Biden to tell him to step down.

It was not clear whether Biden had been examined or just what happened to him in Las Vegas. The call from Obama to Biden was approved by the “Big Three” – former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

On Sunday morning, July 21, with the approval of Pelosi, Jeffries and Schumer, Obama called Biden after breakfast and said, “Here’s the deal. We have Kamala’s approval to invoke the 25th Amendment.”

The 25th Amendment provides that when the president is determined by the vice president and others to be unfit to carry out the powers and duties of his office, the vice president shall assume those duties.

It was clear at this point that Kamala would get the nod from the leaders of the Democrat party – that is, the support to replace Biden in the run for the presidency in the November election. But Obama also made it clear that he was not going to immediately endorse her. She needed to prove herself or she would be replaced also at the convention.

A key factor in the decision to force Biden out of office was his terrible performance in his debate with Trump on June 27, 2024 and his negative polls. The downward slope was increasing. The assassination attempt against Trump was increasingly being tied to Biden’s team and a last ditch attempt to win the Presidency in 2024. It also painted Trump as courageous and a hero – and Biden as week and feeble – which the Democrats hate.

  1. Tierney has done her homework for this article. Some flaws in her parallels with 1968: Johnson had his wits about him and was a shrewd, capable although ruthless and immoral politician. Biden is a technically alive ghost.

Kamala’s running-mate Tim Harris has a long history of being an agent of CCP China. He is trut the Manchurian candidate. Also, a long-time member of pro-Chinese communist front groups in Minnesota.
