    Affordable housing will result in much more immigration from Western countries where housing costs are too high for young people. I am a retired lawyer and property developer, and I know that it is the cost of land spiralling upwards that is one of the key causes of unaffordability.

  2. I listened Nir Barkat the other day. If Bibi becomes PM he will be the finance minister. Barkat has a plan that truly would have a chance to massively expand housing in Israel based on economic principles and not gimmicks as Kahlon unsuccessful tried.

    He will make massive amounts of land available all over the country and not just in select spots as has been done in the past. Then developers will build were they deem best with housing to offer the public. The market place will take hold. Hopefully this will amount to an amply supply of housing and stabilize and/or lower costs in some regions.

    Housing is perhaps Israel’s greatest issue or the lack of affordable housing.
