MK Arieh Eldad discusses the phenomenon of Arab and Bedouin construction without building permits or zoning approval.
On this week’s episode of Walter’s World with Walter Bingham:
If you are a Jewish youth, you might erect a hut on an Israeli hilltop as a centre for your excursions and to have fun with your friends. However it will most likley be quickly be spotted by the regular aerial surveysconducted by Jewish organisations like Peace Now. These groups then report the building activity to the army and it will then be demolished within a very short time.
But if you are an Arab or Bedouin and build an illegal mansion on Jewish-owned or State land, it’s a quite different story.
Why the difference? Find out by listening to Member of Knesset Aryeh Eldad and the story of the Regavim organisation and you will learn the simple answer.
To quell Jewish protests the police don’t hesitate to use brutal force. But demolishing illegal Arab buildings could cause violent riots. The police and army may not respond with equal measure. The news and photos that will go around the world are chosen to portray our security forces as brutal occupiers and oppressors. That’s just what the anti-Israel lobby is looking for, so the army backs off. To hear the full analysis of this issue download the latest Walter’s World podcast by clicking here.

Only your unbelievable egotism make you think that anyone cares about your judgments.
@ Vivarto:
Sorry, I just couldn’t control myself after reading your stupid comment.
yamit82 Said:
Yammit; just f.o. and don’t talk to me.
@ Vivarto:
That’s as stupid a statement as any coming from our radical left.
Ed Katz Said:
There are two reasons:
1. To give a chance to those Arabs (probably a minority) who really want to be loyal citizens of Jewish state (and preferably drop Islam)
2. To give legal grounds for expelling those who lied under oath, should they be caught breaking it.
Wallace Brand Said:
Why only Judea and Samaria. What about Galilee, Jaffa, and other places?
I don’t think Muslims should be allowed to be citizens unless they publicly denounce Muhammad’s antisemitic statements, and the antisemitic verses in Quran. Likewise Christians should publicly denounce the verses claiming that Jews are guilty of murder of their “Christ”.
@ Wallace Brand:
I don’t buy Ettinger;s groups findings because it failed to consider Arabs already constitute a third among Israeli young and even higher % in Wet Bank Arabs), and so will become the largest voting bloc in eighteen years ( without adding West Bank Arabs). What will preclude them from changing Israeli Basic Law? How about Israel as an Arab state with the right of return for Palestinians? And Sharia?
Do not base Arab behavior on false wishful premises. They could lie and accept the oath thereby getting close to an eventual majority and ruling plurality. Not sure our ultra orthodox (6-10% of the population)will accept such an oath nor the extreme secular left (20% of population) though.

Even at 20% no country can countenance 20% of enemies within their borders especially with equal and sometimes more equal rights and benefits of the democratically blind State of Israel. A Palestinian state in the territories is not the biggest problem; we can keep bombing terrorist nests there. A bigger problem is Israel’s Arab population. Many districts in Galilee and Negev are already off-limits to Jews, and Jaffa and Haifa’s Arab districts are increasingly becoming as dangerous as Ramallah. Remember at least one truth, when Arab armies attacked our country, all the endangered inhabitants were Jewish and only Jewish. Arab armies were supported by their entire populations through voting, taxation, conscription, factory work, and encouragement.
I can think of a myriad of reasons to expel our Arabs including those in Y & S but I’ll rest on only one. There is no alternative to the Torah’s dictum, expelling the natives from the land which G-d gave us. Jews and their enemies are not equal.
Wallace, I hate to burst your balloon; however, based on the Quran, lying to a Jew is not only condoned but highly approved; ergo, what good is an oath?
I am in my very senior years and by my estimate, very little is going to be done in my lifetime regarding the annexation of Judea and Samaria. I am hoping the we will find time to give them a good ass whuppin.
@ yamit82: According the the Begin-Sadat Center study, the proposition that “they still out-breed the Jews” has no basis in fact. According to Ambassador Ettinger, even if all the Arabs in Judea and Samaria were awarded citizenship, the Jewish majority, currently 80% would only be reduced to 66%. With the steps I have recommended for requiring an oath of featly to the Jewish state, compensation for those who won’t swear fealty to motivate them to leave, , the 80% current Jewish population majority would be reduced much less. The Arabs remaining in Israel who have not sworn fealty will not have citizenship and therefore not have a vote. They cannot form a “plurality” of voters.
@ Wallace Brand:
You don’t need a majority to control Israel!! A large enough plurality will do, aligned with the parties to the left and post Zionist parties, they will rule. End of Israel as a Jewish State.
Stop fooling yourself, They still out-breed the Jews and demographically it’s only a matter of time before they will reach even a majority.
@ Vivarto: Require a loyalty oath of all inhabitants of Judea and Samaria as a condition of awarding citizenship. Those who do not swear fealty should be offered compensation to leave. If they want to stay, let them stay as non-citizen permanent residents with periodic reporting requirements.
And what to do with all the Arabs?
The jihadis will be able to operate from inside of Israel.
There are already too many Arabs in Israel.
There must be a consistent policy of de-Arabizing Israel.
First of all Hebrew the official language, and no Arabic.
Secondly boycott Arabs economically.
Thirdly no Jewish welfare money for Arabs.
Arabs should be given a choice to drop out of Islam and pledge allegiance to Israel, or lose citizenship.
@ Vivarto: Vivarto, Israel’s annexation of Judea and Samaria is a much better solution. 1. The Levy Report confirms my view that Israel already has sovereignty over the area. 2. The report of the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies shows that Israel will not lose its majority population status if it annexes Judea and Samaria bcause the PA has been overstating their population by about one million persons. 3. Now is a perfect time for annexing this area because Abbas unilaterally seeking statehood from the UN is a material breach of the Oslo Agreement and justifies Israel from withdrawing from it.
Jewish hooligans are our last hope.
