Out of Berlin we learn:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told United States Secretary of State John Kerry and European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini in Berlin Thursday that Jordan and the Palestinian Authority must issue a statement making it clear that the status quo on the Temple Mount has not been violated.
It was reported that, in addition,
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told United States Secretary of State John Kerry and European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini in Berlin Thursday that Jordan and the Palestinian Authority must issue a statement making it clear that the status quo on the Temple Mount has not been violated.
A day before, the press supposition was that Kerry was demanding that the ‘sacred’ status quo at the Temple Mount, first established by Moshe Dayan in June 1967,
reached by Israel and Jordan on the Temple Mount [be put] in writing.
And, lastly, this news site informs us that
Jordanian King Abdullah II warned Israel Thursday against any move to change the status quo at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount compound…The king, whose country operates the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf which has custodial rights over the Temple Mount, made his remarks in a statement after a meeting with UN chief Ban Ki-moon.
The evolvement of the concept of a status quo has been a long one. In the modern period, it begins in the mid-18th century. But we are now in the 21st century and we want to know what is the current status quo? What could be contained in that document that it seems Kerry would like to walk away with?
The first thing I would like to see is a reconfirmation of Jordan’s responsibilities and commitments as per Article 9 of the Jordan-Israel Peace Treaty:
PLACES OF HISTORICAL AND RELIGIOUS SIGNIFICANCE
Each party will provide freedom of access to places of religious and historical significance…The Parties will act together to promote interfaith relations among the three monotheistic religions, with the aim of working towards religious understanding, moral commitment, freedom of religious worship, and tolerance and peace.
If Jordan wants that its present special role in Muslim Holy shrines in Jerusalem be respected and that when negotiations on the permanent status will take place, Israel will give high priority to the Jordanian historic role in these shrines, it should display a fair share of cooperation, coexistence and tolerance.
For example, it could minimize its own media incitement as expressed in these headlines I found in a search at the official Petra News Service:

Second, I would like that Abdallah II sign off on a pledge that the Waqf employees, hundreds of them, actually, whose salaries he claims to pay, and where he ‘restores’, and ‘restores’ some more, and hasrestored in the past, will respect Israel’s authority and surely not facilitate Islamists to exploit the compound for violence, will not allow them to stay overnight and not store stones, molotov cocktails and the like.
Third, joint archaeological excavations should be undertaken as part of the status quo. After all, unilateral excavations by the Waqf were an historic crime against Jewish history. Even Supreme Court JusticeElyakim Rubenstein once wrote that.
Fourth, more gates be designated for entrance of Jews. Why should a current status quo force Jews to wait in the sun and heat, the cold, the wind and the rain to get in only a very few hours a day and at only one gate?
Of course, if the Waqf has constructed three new mosques within the compound under this status quo, one not very large synagogue could be built. I even have a proposed site. That would be a fifth section.
Why should the status quo be one-sided when it isn’t and hasn’t been static these past 48 years?
And remember what the Muslims are demanding and demonstrating for in Cordoba, Spain.
We Jews deserve nothing less at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount that whatthe Muslims there demand for themselves.
hing less at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount that what the Muslims there demand for themselves.

babushka Said:
1) The Jews must die
2) The Jews must die
3) The Jews must die
In the spirit of compromise, can’t we give them at least one of their three demands?
Since the 1960s, I have been trying to convince people that the Arabs’ sole objective is to slaughter the Jews and everything else is nonsense. Here we are fifty years later and people are just as clueless as ever. You cannot teach someone who is determined to remain ignorant.
Stab Jews harder? Is that the threat?
Isn’t it about time for John Kerry to issue another denunciation of Israel? I hope he hurries or I will experience symptoms of withdrawal.
IN my view, Israel should allow the PA to fall, to provoke that fall with typical destabiization tactics like the russians used in donetsk and the CIA used elsewhere,….
send in masked gangs of provocatieurs ……
create an environment of chaos, disorder, riots, arson,….
this will cause the pals to flee the area similar to syria and iraq “arab springs”……………..
give them openings to syria and jordan………….
contain the chaos ringing it with troops but do not go in immediately to stop it…
Only go in to nab fatah leaders with targeted incursions assasinating them in the chaos and melee attributing it to hamas.
when the smoke clears they will beg to leave or to be ruled by Israel.
this is the new paradigm that chaos and disorder in the lands of the enemy is a good thing to be desired and sustained. this paradigm has been proven beneficial by the facts of the arab spring.
Notice that there is no mention or concern by any party of the abuse of jews that preceded the current terrorism. Notice that the filthy foreign quartet scum only have concern that the hashemite dwarf king and the mufti trained nazi abbas are satisfied and happy…. they keep saying F**k the Jews……
and BB echoes their complaints and concerns as if the JEW SWINDLING status quo is a goal, an achievement rather than transparent insult to remind Jews of every swindle, libel, murder and slaughter of the jews for the last 2000 years by these same scum quartet and arabs …… this status quo is the greatest symbol of the continued war on the jews by the usual suspects…. it is no accident that they are all there today in this issue…. europe, russia, the Un, the arabs, the US …. all of whom are former participants in facilitating the slaughter and swindling of Jews.
the only major power absent from these usual anti semites is China, who has no history of anti semitism and has sheltered jews in the holocaust.

me too, but I am hoping that the current events can wake some of them up to the fact that the enemy is unlikely to change at best for a couple more generations. I think that the Israelis have to decide whether they want so many anti semites in their home after fleeing it elsewhere and what price they are willing to pay to resolve the problem. My own view is that they need simply to decide that anti semitism cannot be tolerated at any level in any part of Israel and they need to accpet deportation as a method of dealing with it. If they deal with anti semitism they cant be charged with racism or ethnic cleansing, or even cruel punishment, as in muslim countries they chop heads for being anti muslim. the big problem would be whether the suprem court would allow deportation, I think that weinstein or the court will squash that. BB announced such an approach and if it is succesful at the court it can be the best tool when used with anti semitism laws.
@ bernard ross:
The musloids have been using Temple Mount to store weapons and ammunition in the Mount. I hope lightening strikes the Mount ind with all the ammo in it a fire that spread all over rapidly will destroy the entire Mount. Very convenient to expose what is below he Mount. Nobody could deny both Jewish Temples under it.
I do not understand why the Israelis have not razed the Pagan Mount and get it over.
I remember when the Oslo accords when discussing the stupidity of the accords. People around me call me all sort of names. I told them I knew how it will end because these people were manipulative the same as the communist are.
Some of the people who vocally opposed me are not around anymore. Time has proven me right but it is not a victory seeing what I predicted happening. It hurts me seeing the suffering of the Israelis paying a very high price for the ineptitude of their leaders.
At the time someone told me I was irrational and that I was like Hitler. It is amazing how with time everything
changes. I wish I could physically do something to help.
The best proposal I have seen is to make a law as you have well described for zero tolerance of libelous anti-Semites.
Get rid of them and destroy anything belonging to them is the only solution that will work.
You can destroy them totally and they will be fine for 300 or 400 years at which time the whole manure starts all over again. The religion of criminals.
So, the question is whether BB will bow to the violent extortion of jordan and abbas and grant the anti semitic wakf new full status to bar jews, which has not existed since 2003…… or will BB bow to violent extortion to restore the “status quo”, which he wants to restore, whereby magpie muslim women and muslim thugs attacked and harassed jews on the MOunt, at the wall and outside on the streets.
Let us remember that the status quo did not protect jews from muslim abuse therefore if protecting Jews is important and protecting Jewish archaelogical heritage on the MOunt is important then the wakf and jordan sovereignty would be repealed permanently as recognition of its failure. Abdullah is repeatedly insulting and BB repeatedly a kowtower by allowing the hashemite dwarf to keep breaching the agreement on the mount and his appointees to incite against and abuse jews. Abdullah should have his butt kicked across the river the stinking liar.
the best scenario that can be got now due to the great negotiator BB is to get back what was already bad for Jews. Instead of BB’s offer for calm being kicking out the wakf and jordan he offers more jew abuse on the mount and in jerusalem. he keeps avoiding his responsibility to protect jews with pro-action instead of relying on the anti semites to calm themselves.
When the smoke clears will he portray this as a victory which won the 3rd intifada rather than one more nail in the coffin of Jew acquiescence to muslim threats and abuse?
Isn’t Article 9 of the peace treaty the very basis that establishes what should be the status quo? So it would seem obvious that it is the Arabs that are not adhering to what is or should be the status quo.
Yup.
The apartheid regime anti-Semitic status quo rests on the patently absurd supposition only Muslims have exclusive rights to the Temple Mount.
We keep being reminded the status quo is not sustainable. Apparently only when Jews benefit is that brought up.
In all other circumstances, its sacrosanct forever.
Status quo, indeed.
