Greg Copley: China’s New Civil War Over the Future of China’s Communist System

Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s continuous suppression of Chinese tech giants is signaling a change of heart. He wants to return to the Mao Zedong Era. The era of cultural revolution and bloodshed through political struggle. This is a recent move to curb the privatization and in turn, any chance of political deviation. It’s also a chance for Xi Jinping to rein in more power.

But will other officials in the Chinese Communist Party agree to march down this path? Today, I spoke with Gregory Copley, president of the International Strategic Studies Association and author of the book, The new total war of the 21st century and the Trigger of the Fear Pandemic. His most recent commentary suggests a new civil war is brewing in China.

  1. I don’t think that Xi is planning to send China back to the Maoist dark ages. I believe, however , that his sanctions against Chinese businesses that seek to raise money in the u.S. (IPO’s) have as their true aim disentangling the Chinese economy from the American economy, so that when he orders the invasion of Taiwan, these “separation” measures will reduce the economic damage to China when the USG imposes sanctions in response to the invasion.

At some point he will issue blunt orders to Chinese businesses to withdraw their investments in U.S. corporations, banks, hedge funds etc. and transfer their assets to China. This will cause the u.S. economy to collapse, which will be fine with Xi. It is true that this will cause economic hardship in China. But Xi is convinced that China’s economy is resiliant enough to absorb the crisis, while America’s will not be.

  2. Bullshit. There is no more reducing the income/wealth gap in China than there is in the USA by means of taxes. How many billions of dollars dows Jack Ma need? I don’t see anything wrong with having the ultra ultra rich help with the eradication of poverty. Such paranoia.
