Textually, Judaism may have more in common with Islam than Christianity, but not in implementation, legal structure or worldview. America is based on Judeo-Christian values. The Old Testament is the foundation for much of our legal system – criminal – civil and even bankruptc. Our can do spirit, generosity, hard work and Capitalism derive from Christian pioneers. We are a people of life,, L’Chaim, not martyred zealot death.
@ Michael Devolin:
I agree with your point that Sharia law is an integral part of Islam (not radical Islam – there’s no such religion(???)) However, the majority of Muslims, conspicuously silent, do prefer to live in more or less harmony with their host society and don’t push for sharia to be implemented. What is the problem is that they also pay lip service and often side with the radical views of their radicalised brothers and sisters.
If only they would take a stand and reclaim the rightful approach of Islam, which does not have to be so exclusive as to put down and threaten anyone who does not see eye to eye with their (warped)view of the world.
it is worth noting that Judaism has more in common with Islam than with Christianity. Unfortunately they truly live up to the blessing Ishmael received from Avraham, “…to live by the sword…”
Since Obama has just hired a French economic adviser, perhaps Obama, in a show of comity, should visit Paris on a Friday afternoon and witness the open air prayer sessions.
It’s not “radical Islam” it’s Islam. Islam is displacing French nationalism and replacing it with Muslims. Simple as that. Sharia law is not part of “radical Islam” it is part of Islam proper. The term “radical Islam” was invented by imprudent pluralists and apologists for Islam. Like wise the term “Islamophobia”.
Camus makes the same point as Mark Steyn: it’s all about demographics. Therefore the only way to confront and disable the imposing nature of Islam is to cut back on Muslim immigration.
Great idea, France! Looking forward to doing the same thing in the US. I am all for freedom of religion, I just don’t want to suicide-bombed in the interim.
What the French population want is irrelevant to the French Power elite. This is the way it works in all Western Countries.
So the demonstration is meaningless.
Same situation is in Germany.
Here is a good article:
Pentagon’s Covert War on Iran
Since the kindling of the conflict inside Syria in 2011, it was recognized, by friend and foe alike, that the events in that country were tied to a game plan that ultimately targets Iran, Syria’s number one ally. [1] De-linking Syria from Iran and unhinging the Resistance Bloc that Damascus and Tehran have formed has been one of the objectives of the foreign-supported anti-government militias inside Syria. Such a schism between Damascus and Tehran would change the Middle East’s strategic balance in favour of the US and Israel.
“…the majority of Muslims, conspicuously silent”
“Silence is also an opinion.” -Yiddish proverb

Great to see citizens of a European nation with backbone! Maybe the 1000 or so cars burned to “celebrate”
New Year’s pushed many of them to action.
