Form a right-wing government now

Anyone who sabotages the establishment of a right-wing government that has the potential to finally realize everything the Right has dreamed of will forever be remembered as a disgrace.

The late Prime Minister Menachem Begin once explained that “sometimes even the obvious needs to be said.” I will heed his advice and issue a call that, although they are trying to make us forget, should be obvious: The right-wing factions in the current Knesset must form a right-wing government under Opposition Leader Benjamin Netanyahu and spare us all another election and more craziness.

In recent years, Israel has seen the absolute reorganization of its political system. Instead of focusing on the essence, the parties and politicians have switched to a shallow discourse that centers on personal questions. In a majority of cases, this discourse focuses on one question: Do you or do you not support Netanyahu? As a majority of politicians spend their time in a bubble, they repeated this question so many times that they convinced themselves that this was the most important matter at hand.

New Hope leader Gideon Sa’ar went so far as to shamelessly declare in recent days that his and his party’s goal ultimate goal was to prevent Netanyahu from returning to power.

DEFINITION OF A RIGHT WINGER

I naively thought that the goal of a right-wing party and public emissary who brands himself a right-winger is to realize right-wing ideology and take the following steps: apply Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria and fortify the Jordan River as our eastern border; guarantee this sovereignty in the Negev and Galilee Regions; put an end to the radical rebellion among members of the Arab population; kick out the illegal infiltrators that threaten the Jewish character of the state; rid Israel of the remnants of socialist economics that prevent competition, prosperity, and progress; thwart the Iranian threat; and promote genuine reform in the justice system and the separation of government so that the values of the Right, which are the values of a majority of Israelis, govern all aspects of public life.

All of the above can be easily achieved because right-wing parties that declare their support for right-wing initiatives are the majority in the current Knesset.

To date, a few right-wing parties have preferred to prioritize personal considerations over opportunities to realize policies near and dear to the hearts of right-wing voters. When it comes to these parties, hatred for Netanyahu has taken precedence over the essence.

Who benefited from this? Only the Left, which saw how the Right’s growing public majority was finding expression in the Knesset and breathed a sigh of relief when the Right kicked the bucket. That’s not to say there are no ego wars on the Left. There certainly are. Still, left-wing politicians have never knowingly let hatred or jealousy get in the way of implementing their policies.

The establishment of a right-wing government at this time could be a turning point with repercussions for generations to come. Whoever sabotages the chance to finally realize everything the Right has dreamed of will forever be remembered as a disgrace.

Right-wingers in the Knesset must do the right thing and form a right-wing government now.
