Actually, it is not true that European gas and oil imports from Russia are completely exempt from sanctions.
The EU pretty much killed the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and vowed to largely free itself from the dependence on the Russian energy by the end of the year (which will make it dependent on much more expensive American energy).
The US stopped the Russian oil imports but they were not very significant, percentage wise.
The reason the US wants India and China to join the gas and oil sanctions is so Russia will not have alternative markets for its energy.
The reason the EU keeps buying the Russian oil and gas is because if they cannot stop it cold, not because they wish to give Russia a bailout.
The presenter simply asserts that India will not follow the West’s lead because the West is “hypocritical”.
And yet the Paris Accords exempted India. This is just one of many foreign policy contradictions that make no sense since Biden took power, another being Russia representing the US in talks with Iran. Might not another explanation be that US and Western Foreign Policy is set by a president with dementia?
