UN trying to undermine Israel’s authority in Area C

UN is performing illegal construction activity in Area C just like the EU is doing.

As senior officials in Jerusalem put it, Israel wants to “reassess” the role in the West Bank of the agency, the Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

The two options under consideration are limiting the issuing of visas to OCHA employees and rescinding work and travel permits to local residents who work for OCHA.

Over the past six months, there has been a major deterioration in relations between OCHA and the Israeli government, a senior Israeli source said. Israeli officials have been furious over the conduct of OCHA staff in the part of the West Bank under full Israeli civil and military control.

Known as Area C, this area comprises 55 percent of the West Bank and includes the Jewish settlements, IDF firing ranges and most of the Jordan Valley and Judean Desert. It is estimated that about 120,000 Palestinian live in Area C.

The senior Israeli official said OCHA had promoted several projects in Area C without Israeli approval including illegal construction. Senior officers from the office of Maj. Gen. Eitan Dangot, the IDF’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, asked OCHA’s director in Israel to immediately halt the illegal activities, but nothing has changed.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, COGAT, oversees civilian activities in the West Bank.

Israeli ire over the issue is so great that Dangot ordered a halt to all OCHA’s illegal project work and instructed that a demolition order be issued for any illegal construction. Dangot also asked that the Foreign Ministry lodge a formal complaint at the United Nations in New York.

Read the whole thing. This needs to be taken care of before November, since if God forbid he is reelected, Obama would defend the UN’s activity. But now, he cannot take that chance.

  1. HOw is it possible that an entity can represent the jewish peoples rights to settle when it views the settlement of the jewish people west of the jordan river, as mandated in international law, as being inimical to its own interests. How can it be that the entity ro represent the right of jews to settle cancels that right. I seems to me that only an organiztion who is willing to pursue, and encourage, the internationally guaranteed rights of jews to settle west of the jOrdan river, can be legally allowed to represent those rights????? An obvious conflict of interest that should be pursued first in Israeli courts to compel compliance with the mandate obligations or to resign as representative of those rights.

  2. The citizens elect a govt on a repeated basis that defrauds them. Right wing, settler and zionist organisations must not only act politically to try and elect other corrupt leaders but they must also forge serious organisations to educate other israelis and jews to the legal rights of jews and how the world, the GOI and Jewish organizations have obscured and swindled those jewish rights. Further, they must also proceed in the legal arena to compel the Israeli govt to fulfill its mandatory duty to settle jews west of the Jordan river or to resign as the agent of world jewry in the settlement issue. As it stands the Israeli govt has canceled an internationally binding legal right of world jews to settle anywhere west of the Jordan river. It appears that this has happened because successive GOI’s have perceived that Israels national interests are in conflict with world jewry rights to settle. How is it that the advent of the state of Israel results in Jews having a much smaller legal area to settle in than when the British controlled Israel. It is only the GOI who prevents Jews from settling any area west of the Jordan river. Although Israel is only sovereign currently west of green line, it is bound as the administration in control of, and as the successor trustee to britain, to facilitate the mandate obligations and to encourage the settlement of Jews. This is a legal obligation of GOI and if this is pursued in the courts there will be a global attention given to the arguments of those who support the jewish right of settlement in international law.

  3. I have always said of BB, pay attemtion to what he does or doesn’t do never to what he says, as he is a pathological liar and fraud.

The Jordan river given to the Palis?

This explains why Israel is sitting on her hands while the Lebanese are diverting the Hatzbani River, which supplies nearly a quarter of the Jordan River’s water. Besides Israel’s pitiful appeals to the UNIFIL, there are no plans to attack the enemy that is draining our most valuable resource, more precious than gas.

In the past we attacked Syria for doing something similar but that was when we had leaders ( I never thought I would be praising them today) but when compared to BB they were radical nationalists.

  4. The Israel ministry of Defense is using the 3 Monkeys excuse but the fact of the matter is the the Civil Admin in the Territories is a function of the Ministry of Defense and answerable to it. It is inconceivable that this Administration carries out an independent policy other than that of the Government i.e., BB and Barak.

Elhayani told Arutz Sheva that the problem began three years ago.

Not long after BB formed his coalition with Barak and Labor.

    CONNECT THE DOTS!!

  5. Why is it that I’m not convinced by the government’s sincerity?

    Read this:

IDF ‘Creating Arab Village on Jewish Land’

The IDF’s Civil Administration stands accused of working to assist Palestinian Authority Arabs in illegally grabbing Jewish-owned land.

The head of the Bik’at HaYarden (Jordan Valley) regional authority, David Elhayani, has sent a strongly worded letter to senior official in the Civil Administration in which he blames them for expropriating Jewish land in the community of Tomer in order to establish a village for Arabs who invaded the land illegally.

Elhayani told Arutz Sheva that the problem began three years ago. “Law-flouting criminals entered the jurisdictional limits of a community. They were issued stop work orders and demolition orders but nothing was done.” Now, he explained, the Civil Administration wants to give them official status as a village and approve zoning plans for them.

Making the matter stranger is the fact that the Prime Minister and Defense Minister do not seem to know of the IDF Civil Administration’s move. Elhayani quoted a letter he received from Ruth Bar, an assistant to the Minister of Defense, which says the entire initiative belongs to the Civil Administration and the Ministry of Defense was not aware of it. Even the Head of IDF Central Command was not consulted in the matter, said Elhayani..

“The Civil Administration is working to establish the State of Palestine,” he said. “In whose name are they operating? It is not in their authority. This group is subverting the government. It encourages lawbreakers to keep using the same mode of operation.”

Elhayani estimated that the subversion “will not pass quietly” and warned that Jews could take the law into their own hands as well.

Nationalists in Israel have gotten used to stories like this, which indicate strongly that the radical left has succeeded in subverting parts of the official establishment.

Somebody must have complained about UN activities in Area C and the government has to respond, if only for appearances’ sake.

Enough of these games. Annex all of Judea and Samaria now.
