Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has asked for fresh US help in trying to broker a ceasefire in Gaza, top US diplomat John Kerry said Tuesday.
“Last night we talked, and the prime minister talked to me about an idea and a possibility of a ceasefire. He raised it with me, as he has consistently,” Kerry said.
Netanyahu had said he “would embrace a ceasefire that permits Israel to protect itself against the tunnels and obviously not be disadvantaged for the great sacrifice they have made thus far.”
You could just scream. Netanyahu sure doesn’t want to go to the next stage let alone to bring Hamas to its knees.
Don’t settle for the tunnels.Even if you don’t say that you want to destroy Hamas, keep going. Keep going until Hamas agrees to demilitarize or until you have destroyed everything.

Dear shmuel
I am looking at the time stamp of your post 3:45am…
Were that to be a reply from yamit, it would be ‘business as usual’ at that crazy hour…
So easy to understand…
My heart goes out to ALL of you.

The only electrical power station in Gaza was neutralized yesterday at least temporarily. Of the twelve lines supplying electricity to Gaza from the Rotenberg Ashkelon’s power station, ten are down.
The majority of the front line commanders and soldiers as well as over 85% of the population demand that Hamas be terminated. Not a coup yet but tensions are high.
Most of your other suggestions are logical as well.
“Do we get to win this time?”.

Bomb all the police stations and all the mosques. If a single rocket is fired from any school or hospital flatten it.
But everyone knows that.

When BB confronted BHO in the White House, so many individuals accused BB as “arrogant and disrespectful”. BB is not a weak leader and a doormat.
Is it fair to criticize/blame BB before having a chance to see the whole facts from both sides?
Can we jump into conclusion based only in whatever is written or heard via a mass media?
@ bernard ross:
There is no question about it that there is an escalation of tensions in as far as Israel-us relation go.
Once again, it is an attempt to hold Israel hostage.
Unfortunately, peepee, is NOT suited to stand up to pressure and TO TURN THE TABLES on those like the black bastard.
I believe that A REAL JEWISH LEADER would have told this cotton pickin Kenyan simian, that each major us city has a tactical nuke about to explode… BUT, that could be avoided….
(That would require a prior demonstration of a will to carry it out…. Gaza Strip?? See my above post…)

I was very concerned by Husseins FAA tactic and how quickly everyone took it up. As if it were a warning for the future. The effects of such a tactic are sudden with no time to adjust. That is the kind of tactic that I fear could do Israel great damage. I believe this tactic had been thought out prior to its use. It appeared to be a personal slap in BB’s face,an I’ll show you what I can do moment. Hussein has more such tricks up his sleeve. Isolation, is what was threatened before the peace talks ended and this tactic showed how its done whereby the US leads. I would not be surprised if the CIA arranged the rocket near BG. I have seen how they operate and it would be nothing for them to do.

1. A coup d’état by a few elite ‘kippot srugot’ units.
2. A simultaneous message to the leaders of the world to not even THINK of trying to interfere, since this NUCLEAR ARMED NATION can and will bring the situation to a peaceful conclusion very soon
3. Immediate shutting off of all electricity, water, food etc.
4. Deportation EN MASSE of all foreign “news reporters
5. Shutting down ‘ha’aretz’
6. Advising all soldiers in Judea and Samaria “if in doubt – SHOOT! (Live amo of course)
7. IMMEDIATE open access to the TEMPLE MOUNT to all Jews and disconnect all loudspeakers from minarets (for NOW. More definitive action to follow)
….
After an admittedly tense week of uncertainty, a REAL peace and quiet will dominate. As it becomes clear that Israel’s destiny is finally in Jewish hands and any pressure from outside governments, will be met with a sneer.
Much more could be added, but you get the gist…

Its obvious that BB has been avoiding destroying hamas
perhaps the script is such that hamas was supposed to have already accepted a cease fire but hamas decided to hold out for more because they suddenly realize that they are the pivot upon whom everyone is depending for the next phase.
Suicidal maniacs usually get their wish.
I heard for the last two hours a constant “mabul”, downpour of the old Oslo guard assaulting one and all wanting to defeat Hamas. Every slimy old Peresite popped out of their hiding holes. One meretz MK actually lost it while being interviewed, He shrieked, insulted using their true form but one they kept hidden until now.
Meanwhile HAMAS attacks and kill 5 soldiers and dozens of long distance rockets fly to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
My friends.
If this is all our military is able to do in 23 days against a half cooked rabble, what is our expectation from the same military command and political cadre doing any better against Iran?
@ NormanF:
Somebody close to BB leaked the transcript to the press. With just under 100 days before the next congressional elections It is going to hurt Obama, I think.
Israel is not without political options even against the most powerful. Too bad BB has not seen fit to use his political strengths and options. This is not going to end well for either BB/Israel or Obama. Obama will try to get even and he has many options for doing us harm.
@ yamit82:
I have a few Glasgow friends in Israel who could be effective mouthpieces for Netanyahu. They could talk to Obama fluently in words that would impress him…

Who to believe? Netanyahu pulled his punches 5 times. It didn’t win him Obama’s respect. There is a message here. Wimps are losers.
@ yamit82:
I’m glad Netanyahu was shocked. Was he thinking Obama called to gild Israel’s path with roses? I would never put up with that kind of treatment from any one. Any one who insults me to my face gets put on my sh*t list. Netanyahu should have terminated the call at the first sign of rudeness. Israel should not be the world’s doormat.
Another Day Of Friendly Fire? Kerry: Bibi Asked For Cease-Fire; PMO Official: Kerry Raised It
After the US administration pushed back Monday against Israeli officials for launching “a misinformation campaign” against Secretary of State John Kerry, US top diplomat revealed Tuesday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called him on Monday to raise the idea of a ceasefire.
“The prime minister talked to me about the idea of a ceasefire. He raised it with me. Netanyahu has consistently said that he would embrace a ceasefire that permits Israel to protect itself against the tunnels,” Kerry said during a visit to Ukraine.
But an unnamed official in the Prime Minister’s Office repudiated Kerry’s comments, telling Channel 2?s Udi Segal that it was Kerry that raised the issue and Netanyahu just outlined his conditions for a possible cease-fire.
During the press conference. Kerry deflected the criticism he faced from Israeli officials and media outlets. “I’ve taken hits before in politics, I’m not worried about that. This is not about me: it’s about Israel and Israel’s right to defend itself, and our strong support for Israel’s right to defend itself,” he said. “I’m not going to worry about personal attacks.”
Kerry stressed, “We are working very carefully with our Israeli friends in order to be able to find a way to reduce the civilian loss of life, to prevent this from spiraling downwards, into a place from which both sides have difficulty having a way forward.”
“Nobody condones the idea that Israel ought to be subject to attacks from these tunnels. We have supported from day one Israel’s right to defend itself, Israel’s right to take actions, Israel’s right to live free from rockets and tunnels that threaten it,” he added.
Report: Obama Was Rude and Hostile During Phone Call With Netanyahu
The conversation between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Barack Obama was tense and tough, according to a report on Channel 1 Tuesday evening.
Based on a transcript of the conversation, obtained by Israel’s channel 1, Obama “behaved in a rude, condescending and hostile manner,” the network’s foreign correspondent concluded.
During the 35-minute conversation on Sunday, the president reportedly demanded that Israel should immediately and unconditionally end the operation.
When Netanyahu asked what Israel would get in return for unilaterally ending the strikes, Obama replied: “I believe Hamas will stop firing rockets – quiet in return for quiet.”
To which Netanyahu responded that Hamas has already violated 5 cease-fires and is committed to the destruction of Israel.
“I repeat and expect Israel to stop all of its actions against Hamas in Gaza,” Obama said. He added that despite Netanyahu’s objections the United States trusts Qatar and Turkey’s mediation. “Israel is not in a situation that it can choose its mediators,” the president told his Israeli counterpart.
Netanyahu has undermined ALL efforts upholding our rights in every sphere. Presently sirens are sounding in Jerusalem because he has blocked the IDF from defeating Hamas.
Solutions please!
