Danon: Stop Funding PA Until it Stops Funding Terrorism

Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon (Likud) on Monday called for an end of international monetary aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA) until the PA stops using the money to fund terrorism.

Danon noted that the aid money which the PA receives is being used in large grants to terrorists, saying “the world thinks it’s funding peace, but the Palestinians are funding terror.”

The Deputy Defense Minister added that “the world needs to stop the money going to the PA until it stops funding terror.”

His words come as it emerges that the Palestinian Authority has given a whopping $50,000 grant to each of the 52 convicted terrorists released by Israel as part of a deal to encourage the PA back to the negotiating table. The released terrorists – most of whom were convicted of deliberately murdering Israeli civilians – will also receive senior positions within the PA government.

Earlier this month a Member of the European Parliament claimed funds set to be transferred to the PA had been frozen over concerns they would be used to fund terrorism. The European Union is the largest single donor to the PalestinianAuthority.

The PA just recently passed a new law granting more benefits to freed terrorists. Under the law anyone who served more than 5 years in prison for an offense related to terrorism against Israel will be guaranteed a job in the public sector.

Terrorist prisoners already get a stipend of anywhere from 1,400 to 12,000 shekels a month. The amount is proportional to the length of the sentence, meaning terrorists who committed the most serious offenses are paid more.

All of this financial aid comes despite massive unemployment among PA Arabs, and the PA reportedly being $4.2 billion in debt.

Danon’s criticism of the PA follows Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon’s statements Sunday, in which he said the PA is no different from Hamas in its goal to undermine Israel, but that it simply uses different means.

Meanwhile the glorification of terror under the PA continues apace. Just this October two soccer tournaments and all the competing teams were named after terrorists.

  1. It is a waste of time to blame others, i.e., The Palis, US, EU, etc, when the problem begins and ends with the GOI. The Israeli PEOPLE
(or at least a majority of them) know what should be done and have the correct instincts regarding Israeli sovereignty throughout the
country. If they are given simple yes or no choices on the various contentious issues they will come down on the “Zo Artzeinu” side.
Somehow when the peoples’ wishes are translated into political reality even their elected leaders (viz. Bibi) drop the ball. Until
the Likud leadership can take a firm stand on its Zionist principles Israel will flounder in the wind and be subject to the whims of
    delegitamization and Anti-Semitism.

  2. We all know that our “partners in peace” name everything they can after murderers. I am planning a trip to Israel soon, and I will be staying in the German Colony area. Just look at the names of the streets there- Yossi Ben Yoesser, Raban Yochanan Ben Zakai, etc. How beautiful to name streets after revered scholars. It goes to the heart of the difference between Israel and it’s animalistic neighbors. Am Yisroel chai!!

  3. @ Yidvocate:

That would mean a nation of G-d fearing Jews who feel themselves unworthy of His protection which alone would warranty Divine protection.

    Bingo!

just the natural effect of 2,000 years of persecution, inquisitions, pogroms and the like

The holocaust was the end of all ends – many are still broken hearted that it happened – they didn’t expect that it could happen to a people that Hashem has a covenant with…not to mention that the plans for the final solution are well under way. Divine protection AND Divine intervention is the ONLY solution!

  4. @ dove:

If only it were true what you say! That would mean a nation of G-d fearing Jews who feel themselves unworthy of His protection which alone would warranty Divine protection.

No alas, I fear it has more to do with what’s been come to be known as Stockholm Syndrome or just the natural effect of 2,000 years of persecution, inquisitions, pogroms and the like. An embattled and beleaguered nation who has not trust in G-d behaves thus.

To think that after such a long and bitter exile He brought us back just to be wiped out by the likes of the Mullahs!

    IMPOSSIBLE!

  5. @ Laura:

No doubt the world only knows too well, but the real question is why Israel permits it to continue. The open and unabashed glorification of terrorists against the Jewish people in the very heart of the Jewish state! Unthinkable!Intolerable!

Israel could shut it down in a heartbeat. It could end the media, religious and educational indoctrination and muzzle the muzloids if it wanted to.

Not only does it not want to but it tolerates and nurtures this implacable enemy faction in it’s midst when any other nation in its right mind would expel the lot without the slightest hesitation and would have done so decades ago.

No wonder the world has such contempt for the Jewish state.

We have met the enemy and it is us!

    Good luck with that.

I’m quite certain the world knows exactly what its funding.
