Peloni: It is important to understand the similarity between the views held by Davis and those expressed by Gabbard prior to her joining the Trump bandwagon. Indeed, Davis’ pro-Pal, pro-Iran, anti-Trump positions, complete with the full support of the TSS all hallmarked Gabbard’s prior advocacy, which should inform us as to her reasons for picking Davis for this vital role on her staff. It would be best if the Trump administration took note of this fact as being more relevant than accidental, as Gabbard could hardly be unaware of Davis’ perspective which mimicked that of Gabbard’s own perspective for a very long time. It is also curious, if not revealing, that one day before this story broke, Gabbard went on a multi-nation Indo-Pacific trip abroad. Prior to Gabbard’s confirmation, I questioned, Why is Gabbard’s Judgement So Bad, and Why is it So Relevant. It seems that her highly significant and highly sensitive position leading the DNI has not improved her judgement, and notably, it remains quite relative to her ability to fulfil the obligations of this significant position, something which I also noted previously.

Here is more information on why it is a good thing that Daniel Davis was not appointed Deputy Director of Intelligence for Mission Integration: “Anti-Israel commentator tapped as a deputy director of national intelligence,” by Marc Rod, Jewish Insider, March 12, 2025:
He also strongly opposed Israeli plans to expand operations into Lebanon, which have since successfully degraded Hezbollah’s capabilities and eliminated most of its leadership.
Davis criticized President Donald Trump’s expressions of support for attacks on Iran’s nuclear program and denied that Iran poses a threat to the United States, asserting that it is only a “marginal regional power.”
Apparently Daniel Davis has never met a terrorist group or country threatening Israel that he didn’t like. He not only wants Israel to stop fighting Hamas, but also opposed the IDF’s taking on Hezbollah in Lebanon. What, one wonders, does he think of the outcome of that operation? Four thousand Hezbollah combatants killed, 3,800 severely wounded in the “exploding pagers” exploit, the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, and his successor, Hashem Safieddine, both assassinated, the commander and deputy commander of Hezbollah’s elite unit, the Radwan Force, both killed, dozens of other commanders killed, as well as ten of the twelve members of the Jihad Council. Hezbollah, desperate to stop the IDF’s assault, agreed to pull back its forces in Lebanon north of the Litani River. Had the IDF listened to Daniel Davis, Hezbollah would still be launching missiles into northern Israel.
“I don’t know who Trump has hired for his advisor, who’s giving him such absurd advice, but hitting the nuclear facilities of Iran is far more dangerous and difficult than what he believes,” Davis said in October 2024. “The ramifications could be terrible for us and for Israel.”
What does Daniel Davis know about the state of Iran’s nuclear project, or what the Supreme Leader plans to do with nuclear weapons should Iran be able to manufacture them? When Davis says that “hitting the nuclear facilities of Iran is far more dangerous and difficult than what he [Trump] believes,” does he have some inside knowledge of what Israel is capable of? Can he read Trump’s mind? Didn’t the destruction wrought by the IAF on October 26, when it destroyed Iran’s anti-missile defense systems, its plant for ballistic missile fuel, and the previously top secret nuclear facility at Parchin, demonstrate the IAF’s ability? Now, without those S-300 anti-missile systems, Iran is virtually defenseless should Israel decide to send fighter jets and bombers to destroy its nuclear facilities. Does Davis know what intelligence about Iran Israel has gathered, and what weapons the IAF may soon, possess, including those 30,000-pound MOPs (Massive Ordnance Penetrators, or bunker buster bombs), that would be needed to destroy the plant build deep underground at Natanz and inside a mountain at Fordow? No, he does not. But he is dead set on trying to head off any Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear facility. Why is he trying to protect the monstrous regime of the mullahs from a possible collapse? Has he forgotten that the Islamic Republic hates the Great Satan, America, at least as much as it hates the Little Satan, Israel?
Davis has advanced the view that U.S. and Israeli policies and actions are forcing Iran’s hand toward hostile action, including nuclearization, and titled the Dec. 20 episode of his YouTube show “Quit Shoving Iran Towards Developing Nukes.”
So, in Davis’ view, Iran is “being forced toward hostile action” because of the policies of the U.S. and Israel. He has things backwards. Ever since Ayatollah Khomeini came to power in 1979, Iran has been determined to oppose America, and Israel, at every turn. He wasn’t reacting to any policies by those two countries. It was their very existence that made them Iran’s enemy. The U.S. was seen as the leader of the Infidel camp, the head of the snake. Israel is the local enemy, an illegitimate country built on land that was once possessed by Muslims and so must again revert to being a Muslim land.
What Israel does is none of this person’s (personal) business. Any relationship he has with Iran and its terrorist allies can only do great harm to Israel.
Time for Israel to get on with the job of cleaning up the shop. As they say, “Faster please!!!”
@peloni, your points are well taken. However, we should keep our eye on the ball to see what becomes of this choice of cast for the Middle East.
I think we all hope that DJT will follow up on his stated objectives. Keeping these questions coming is a way to remind ourselves, and DJT, that we are suspicious of the probable results.
