— Tucker Carlson (@TuckerCarlson) October 23, 2023
On Monday night Tucker Carlson dropped episode 33 of his show on X with guest Col. Douglas MacGregor.
“Looks like we’re actually going to war with Iran. Are we ready for this?” Tucker said during his latest episode.
Iran has repeatedly threatened the United States after its proxy army Hamas launched a terror attack on Israel and killed more than 1,300 Jews. Iranian proxies attacked US troops in Syria and Iraq.
During their conversation Col. MacGregor dropped a bomb on the X audience. According to the Colonel, US special forces suffered considerable losses recently during an excursion into Gaza.
Col. Douglas MacGregor: We don’t have the means to rapidly ship a large force of 80 to 100,000 troops on the ground into the region, which means that we’re reliant on special forces and right now 2000 marines and perhaps 2000 special forces and special operations forces. That’s not going to make much of a dent. And as we’ve seen quite recently, within the last 24 hours or so, some of our Special Ops forces and Israeli Special Ops forces went into Gaza to reconnoiter to plan for where they might want to go to free hostages and make an impact. And they were shot to pieces and took heavy losses as I understand it. I think that’s where we’re headed and I don’t see that as a win for Israel in any way, shape or form.
We are looking for information to back up the Colonel’s claim.
Although we have not confirmed the loss of US Special Forces in Gaza there are reports that the US sent military advisers to Israel to assist our allies. And there are reports that US forces have come under fire in the region.
The South China Morning Post reported:
The Pentagon has sent military advisers, including a Marine Corps general versed in urban warfare, to Israel to aid in its war planning and is speeding multiple sophisticated air defence systems to the Middle East days ahead of an anticipated ground assault into Gaza.
One of the officers leading the assistance is Marine Corps Lieutenant General James Glynn, who previously helped lead special operations forces against Islamic State and served in Fallujah, Iraq, during some of the most heated urban combat there, according to a US official who was not authorised to discuss Glynn’s role and spoke on the condition of anonymity.<
Glynn will also be advising on how to mitigate civilian casualties in urban warfare, the official said…
…The military team is one of many fast-moving pieces the Pentagon is getting in place to try and prevent the already intense conflict between Israel and Hamas from becoming a wider war.
It also is trying to protect US personnel, who in the last few days have come under repeated attacks that the Pentagon has said were likely endorsed by Iran.
Kirby said Iran was “in some cases actively facilitating these attacks and spurring on others who may want to exploit the conflict for their own good, or for that of Iran. We know that Iran’s goal is to maintain some level of deniability here. But we’re not going to allow them to do that”.

@Raphael, I agree. We can never know what is in another man or woman’s mind or heart without asking.
However, as you pointed out, it is not just Colonel Macgregor, it is others who have in regard to the War in Ukraine, not listened to conventional wisdom (or CIA propaganda) and have formulated for themselves, based upon their own sources, what they think is going on.
I believe that these people do not have good or reputable sources in Israel, but are relying on “conventional wisdom,” which turns out to be Palestinian propaganda, but they do not realize they are being taken in. They just simply think “this is what soldiers do: they protect innocent people and direct their attacks at military targets.”
They are missing the facts. The facts are that the people of Gaza are not innocent. If they were innocent, then why won’t any other Muslim nation take them in? Why did two neighboring Muslim nations rush quickly to state right away that they would not take them in?
The facts are very painful for Western people. To think that whole populations of people in the West Bank and Gaza actually really want Israel to be destroyed, and REALLY WANT ALL THE JEWS DEAD,
they cannot wrap their heads around. For them this cannot be true. It must be just the so-called “militants” who believe this and act on it.
I do not know what it will take to help them see the truth.
Especially difficult is that the UN and many Western countries are firmly convinced the Palestinians are innocent.
Now these people like Macgregor and Napolitano are interested in the truth. They also feel strongly that nation states are at risk these days from the globalist threats to destroy their sovereignty.
But they just cannot get over the mind blowing idea that an entire group of people has been inculcated since birth to believe that Jews have destroyed their chances for a country of their own and thus must die.
Nothing short of having each of these men watch hours and hours of interviews with the average Palestinian person on the street being asked how they feel about the Jews by their fellow Palestinians. Maybe they need to see the data with their own eyes.
However, right now is not the time for remedial courses in reality for people who just don’t get it. If these men who appear to understand the rules of international law do not see Israel’s right to destroy Hamas, period, no qualifications, then we will just have to accept they are too limited in their understanding of reality to serve as sources of information and insight on this subject.

Reposting my comments on McGreggor from another thread
Now is the time to take out the IRGC, Iranian missiles, nuke sites. They have been attacking the USA for years and have made over 10 attacks in the last week alone.
McGregor is very likely spouting bullshit about USA forces going into Gaza and getting shot to pieces. Do NOT believe him one iota!
@Vivarto – Russian’s are not Islamist’s if that they if that is what you mean by ideological supporters of Hamas and Iran. However, they are certainly strong allies of Iran with weapon’s trading plus providing Iran their nuclear technology. Hamas, Iran, Hezbollah all have Russian weapons.
Russia actually in favor of this war between Israel and the various Islamist’s because it raises oil prices and now Ukraine is not the center of attention on many aspects (including weapons and money).
Russian’s are part of the Axis of Evil who are against the west including the USA and Israel.
@EvRe1
This is a mystery. I have followed several people during the last year on the Ukraine war, whom I found to be reliable. Macgregor was one of the most solid, I thought. On the Gaza issue, however, he seems to take a decidedly anti-Israeli tack. He is not the only one. Just last night, I took Judge Napolitano and ex CIA Ray McGovern to task for their comments on Israel. There are others…Alexander Mercouris, Scott Ritter…most disappointing.
I am at a loss to understand this. These guys were so “right” on Ukraine, yet they are so “wrong” on Israel’s response to Hamas. They all take the same anti-Israel position that Israel better not go into Gaza to finish off Hamas. They all want to hinder Israel, and say some very disturbing things in the process. The Judge said that Israel was getting ready to commit genocide in Gaza. I just don’t get it. Maybe it’s me.
MacGregor offered up a 100 reasons why Israel is making bad decisions but made not one suggestion as to how Israel might effectively fight its Muslim enemies.
Not a useful interview in the slightest. Carlson has him on because Carlson is basically ant-war. Any war. I have never heard Carlson say a war is justified.
Then again Carlson had Kanye West on slamming Jews for two hours and another time Andrew Tate, a convert to Islam, who also does not like Israel much.
Maybe there is a pattern.
I watched a portion of the interview with Col Macgregor, a man who I thought had made a very cogent military analysis of the war in Ukraine. I thought he had a good understanding of where the push for the War in Ukraine was coming from, and what is motivating the war in Ukraine, i.e. the desire on the part of the Military Industrial Complex (which never met a war it didn’t want to fight) for regime change in Russia.
I was surprised to find that he suffers from the same delusion shared by many in the West based simply on Palestinian propaganda, that Gaza is filled to the brim with completely innocent civilians.
If you are basing your military planning and concepts on a delusion, you will have poor results.
I am sure there are children in Gaza and it is true if they are under school age, they might be considered innocent. But the children of Gaza attend summer camps in which they practice killing Jews and learning how to become glorious heroes by killing the sons of apes and pigs, i.e. the Jews.
There are even Israelis who share this delusion of the “innocent” Palestinian. So it is not surprising that many educated Westerners have fallen for this ruse.
I’m afraid Col. Macgregor’s analysis of Israel’s chances of succeeding rest upon his delusion that Israel cannot go into Gaza without tremendous cost of innocent life.
After this I stopped watching the video.
One of the things I think most people would recognize is how that this outbreak of hostilities has cause a separation between people and a unifying among Israel, like none I remember. When the news broke of the Hamas attack on Israel, everyone within minutes had chosen sides. Maybe, this is our warning, that the sheep and the goats are being separated getting everyone ready for the big one that is coming in a few years.
I can’t believe I have to struggle to convince Jews on this matter.

Vivarto, “mildly retarded” ought to answer your question.
Russia has been one of Hamas’s main supporters. Even before most Israelis were aware of Hamas’s attack on them, Putin was demanding that Israel cease fire. I find it hard to believe your naivete

@Michael S
Russia is not an ideological supporter of Iran and Hamas.
American war on Russia resulted in Russian alliance with others at war with America.
If Russia could choice between alliance with Israel and America, or Iran and Hamas, Israel and America are more atractive.
@Michael S
Sorry, don’t get the connection between Russia and a mildly retarded Swedish girl.
what’s on your mind?
Vivarto, you said
Oh, what fitting revenge on Hamas! Make peace with their supporters!
Did you learn this from Greta Thunberg?
Stop supporting Ukro-Nazis and make peace with Russia!
Yes, that’s what MacGreggor said. I take it at face value.
