I never wudda guessed. I never progressed in theory, and was never interested to that extent. As I explained to you some years go, I was mainly an ear player, and had and excellent sense of chords. Piano was not my main instrument, only my personal hobby, although I did some gigs on piano/voc… even on cornet. (new Orleans style only)

Henry and I often enjoyed playing piano duets when growing up, a lot of fun. All the kids would dance to it. Ihis was in our Jewish sports club, Carlisle, a part of Dublin Maccabi. Ian Henry (Garber) went on to great international fame. Actually a genius.
My favourite by far then was Hors D’Oeuvre, especially the Bert Ambrose arrangement. I’d heard a scrap of this tune when watching the Clifton Webb film where he takes his daughter dancing, and was immediately entranced by it. I tracked it down from those 3-4 bars, which was a complete detective story in itself. Took several years. “The Vamp” was also played, a HUGE hit that years, but Hors D’Oeuvre had musical content that I liked. It was different. The old fashioned, measured tempo, version played by Harry Davidson and his (Old Tyme) Orchestra I particularly liked. and actually bought a copy.

I also spent over 4 years with a BA/LLB degree. During that time I was apprenticed as ALL law students in Ireland were, to a Master. in my case a very prominent sollicitor, a criminal legal genius. for those 4 years (later a Judge) His partner was my cousin.. The final requisite was an exam peculiar to Ireland that one should be able to conduct a case in Gaelic. I spent 3 weeks in the Gaelteact, an Irish speaking area in Galway. the toilet was 30 yards down the back, and the well was just down the road 100 yards away. I lived on hard boiled eggs, a block of kosher cheese, stale challa and raw cabbage leaves. I passed the exam but not sufficiently highly enough to satisfy me. By this time business was beckoning.

{I’d passed my Uni entrance exams age 15. All I had to do was learn Latin.. My dear late brother locked me in our dining room at 9 every morning until 5 in the evening (with certain breaks of course) with books 3 and 4 of The Odes of Horace, and an English crib. this took 10 days. I passed.)

Now you know all (not quite) about me.

  2. @Edgar G: FYI: The doctorate for performance in music is called a DMA, which stands for Doctor of Musical Arts. PhD’s only apply to the academic side of music, such as Theory, Composition, Music History. Lawyers have the JD or Juris Doctor.

  3. I recall a comment a while back applauding the military coup in Myanmar/Burma as the same kind of attempt to rectify a corrupt election that was being advocated people saying that Trump should put in place limited martial law to have a fair election. It’s true that the military said that was the reason but after reading this, I don’t believe in their sincerity or think it’s right to support them.

91 civilians killed as Myanmar military marks Armed Forces Day
    KYODO NEWS KYODO NEWS – Mar 28, 2021 – 00:07 | World, All

At least 91 civilians were killed by Myanmar security forces on Saturday in the bloodiest day since anti-coup protests began in February, local media reported, with a crackdown on demonstrations across the country intensifying as the military celebrated its annual Armed Forces Day.

Earlier in the day, the military marked its first Armed Forces Day since ousting Aung San Suu Kyi’s elected government in the Feb. 1 coup, with a ceremony and a military parade in the capital Naypyitaw.

Photo taken March 27, 2021 from a program aired by Myanmar’s state-run television shows soldiers take part in a military parade on Armed Forces Day in Naypyitaw (For editorial use only)(Kyodo)
Online media Myanmar Now said the 91 civilians were killed by the military in 40 towns across the country, while other local media reported the dead include children as young as 5-years-old.

The British Embassy in Yangon released a statement from Ambassador Dan Chugg condemning the brutality against civilians.

“On Myanmar’s Armed Forces Day, the security forces have disgraced themselves by shooting unarmed civilians. Dozens of innocent people have reportedly been killed, including children,” the statement posted to the embassy’s official Twitter account read.

In preparation for the ceremony, the military has been cracking down on anti-coup protests using deadly force. The armed forces put out constant notices on state television warning that anyone attempting to interfere in the day’s events was “at risk of being shot in the head.”

According to the human rights group Assistance Association for Political Prisoners, 328 people have been killed as of Friday night in the military’s violent campaign since the coup.

In a speech at the event, coup leader Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, who inspected the military parade, strongly condemned the demonstrations while reiterating his position that the takeover was “unavoidable” due to what he termed fraud in last year’s election. He did, however, vow that the military would “transfer power after a free and fair election” but gave no details.

Min Aung Hlaing also criticized the National League for Democracy, which resoundingly won last November’s general election, as “trying to launch an unconstitutional government,” and hinted at bribery allegations against them, including Suu Kyi.

Armed Forces Day marks the date in 1945 when Gen. Aung San, Suu Kyi’s father, began the resistance to the Japanese occupying forces during World War II and is considered the most important event for the military to showcase its prowess.

About 8,000 soldiers and other personnel attended this year’s parade, where weaponry was put on display. Visiting Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin was present at the ceremony, as Min Aung Hlaing thanked his country for being “a true friend.”

In prior years, representatives from 20 to 30 countries would attend the ceremony. This year, however, officials from only eight countries attended, including Russia, Thailand and China, underscoring the troubled nation’s growing isolation from the international community.

Japan was invited this year as well, but Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said earlier this month that Tokyo has no intention of sending Japanese personnel to the event.

Previous Armed Forces Day military parades were held with over 10,000 personnel from Myanmar’s army, navy and air force, as well as tanks, missiles and other types of weaponry on display. The event was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The military has been keeping Suu Kyi and other prominent politicians in detention.

  4. Hi Ted,

I heard that there was a revolt in SE Iran that broke out earlier this week and an entire province was in rebellion(probably wishful reporting). Do you know if it still ongoing or spreading(probably too much to hope for)? I haven’t been able to find much reporting on it(I am not sure if it is a news blackout or just more fake news).
    Thanks

  5. @ Sebastien Zorn:

I don’t know if there still is. It’s good that you are doing what you are, but you could do both. Two different aspects. I think it was Govt. sponsored, and you could find out easily enough if it is still extant.

I did it for a couple of years, and never once was there any editorial brawn. I’d made this a condition. I was putting a lot of thought into my work. Then a new editor came along and immeditely began “re-arranging” and cutting some of my stuff. I said I’d quit. He kept doing it so I quit. I was asked to continue by my original “finder” but I daid NO. In those days once I’d made up my mind it was like the “Medes and Persians”.

I noticed that the past few days Ted has posted very few articles, some duplicates…wonder if he’s O.K. ??

Hasbara group? I didn’t see that post though I don’t belong to a group. I just post on Facebook and in the comments section of news sites.

Although it was along time ago and I could be in error. Besides, MR Cassidy my teacher spoke Galway dialect, a little different from the several other varieties of Gaelic. (Gaodhleig). The “h”s are in place of aspirarions over some letters

  8. @ Sebastien Zorn:
Yes I know that Wiki says that, and as I mentioned, a professor in Utrecht Uni, that I spoks with said, and confirmed it with an email, that he’d read that he got as far as Conatantinople, but then had to return due to his father’s illness. It made little difference as he aleady had people there doing the work.

I just recalled that when I saw that Haifa Uni. had a copy I contacted Haifa about it, and a prof there was very derogatory about Goldreich, saying that he was not scholar enough to translate the Latin into Hebrew, although he had not read the article. It was because of what HE said, that I contacted Nurit Greenger, whom you see, translated from the Hebrew account into English. She. was highly indignant and said that Goldreich did an excellent translation, and etc.etc.

I later came to the opinion that the Haifa prof, derided Goldreich because He was a far lefty and knew Goldreich was a red-hot Nationalist, who wanted to drive the Arabs out of Israel, somewhere to the right of Otzmah Yehudit I think. Nurit also. If I still lived there, I would,be one of them.

I think it’s pretty clear and accurate, that what the article says is true. The UtrechyY prof said that Reland was paticularly noted for using only the most accurate and detailed information in all his work. (which, I suppose he is so noted a scholar and producer.) All other travellers say exactly the same. I posted a few times on Israpundit over the years about an extant letter from a Bishop who visited Israel arounf the 5-6th cent. and wrote to a friend in France that the only thing he complained about was that the place was so full of Jews they were squeezing out the Christians. I just can’t recall the Bishop’s name.

I hope you took notice of the bottom right little section of that article, which mentions 9000 Photos of Palestine in the 1800s and the British Mandate. I have some of those somewhere, and, particularly of the Temple Mount I have 3-4 pctures , and a more desolate place you never saw. I think about the early 20th cent. The Dome was amost bare, you could see curved rafters, and weeds growing all thrugh the platform flagstones.

You didn’t answer me about working for a Hasbara group. I mentioned I used to do synopses of books and articles they’d send me.

The O’Neills and O’Donnelles their Chieftains, left Ireland at the end of the 15th or first years of the 16th, exiled, really escaping.

Sorry, suddenly remembered my history. The O”Neills and O”Donnells left Ireland at the beginning of the 17th century. Sailed from Lough Foyle I think. It became known as “The Flight of the Earls”…Hard to believe that I’d forgotten what was seared forever on my hands by a black leather strap, wielded by Mr. Cassidy….Bless him…..

  10. @ Hund:

I think the Republicans improved their position in nearly all state Legislatures, cotrolling , I think, 39. Also Washington’s situation was different.I alwaysbthought that he should hav done much bette much quicker, because the British had a logistics problem having their home base across the Atlantic, whith everything needed having to be transported by uncertain ship…Yes there were British controlled cities, but many were not self-supporting relying on the surrounding countryside for much of their produce and other needs. They couldn’t maintain all the needs to make war, and their American support of Loyalists was limited. Basically their backs were to the sea, not a good position for armies to be . .

Just my opinion, not influenced by any reading. I never found that American period of any interest. All I knw about Washington as a youth was that he’s “chopped doen a cherry tree” and “couldn’t tell a lie”… The fact that he was a huge, immensely wealthy landowner, with hundreds of slaves, never entered my consciousness.

  11. Sebastien Zorn Said:

. Since the left back Irish Catholic claims to Northern Ireland going back to the 14th century, it

I had an almost complete longish piece ready to post when I pressed something and the whole thing vanishedleaving only a single letter. So here goes again.

The Irish were cleared out of the North by a series of “Plantatations” //importing Scottish settlers and shoving out thebCatholics. It reached it’s maximum ometime in the early 16th cent. I think. The O’Neills and O’Donnelles their Chieftains, lft Ireland at the end of the 15th or first year sof the 16th, exiled, really escaping.

In my Irish days (lft aged 27) the population of the North was static for many years, 1 mill Protestants and 1/2 mill Carholics. I used think about this, how did the Caholics get there when they were all cleared out… So, I came to the conclusing that naturally, quite a few would have escaped to the hills and mountains, stayed there, proliferated as Catholics always did, and eventually with growing numbers and easing consitions ove the next few centuries edged back into the population (much like the Jews came back to England in Cromwell’s day, although never legally allowed to this very day.)

They got the worst housing and schooling work, etc, becuause apart from th religious antipathies, their Bishops and clergy instructed them, forbade them to take any part in communal life, nor elections, nothing. So that’s how it happened. Over the years, coming into modern times there lifely were a few town Catholic councillors et. but in the main, this situation prevailed into the IRA Fenian gangsterism and murders began in earnest. Just an outline as I see it, not exact of course, but logical.

  12. @ Sebastien Zorn:
I knew exactly whom you meant right from the heading before I got to your actual post. Hard to forget him. His name is Adriaan Reland, and often Hadriani Relandi. He was at the very end of the 17th century, and his famour book was actually published just a few years before he died. The events described in it were discovered between 1696-98 I think.

He actulally was not a traveller, being the foremost cartographer, Semitic and all Eastern and European languages in that period. He was permanent professor of Oriental Studies from a very young age until he died. From what I’ve been ablr to gather, he intended to go himself to Eretz, but his father was ill and it interfered with his intentions. Some sources say he got as far as Constantinnople. Anyway he commissioned the census to be done most meticulously and examined every scrap of information himself. He drew a map of ancient Israel delineating the tribal areas.

As you may recall,i told you that the University of Utrecht, in 2018, held a 2-3 month series of lectures and seminars on his works, to commemmorate the date of his dearh in Feb 1708. And I had both conversation and exchange of emails with several of the involved professors of the University.

There is a reporter/writer whom you sometimes see published in Israel Hayom of Jerusalem Post, with whom I also had email echanges. Her name is Nurit Greenger This was because when looking up Hadrian Relandi I came across an item further down the page on Travellers in Palestine in the 17th (or maybe 18th ) century, and an anecdotal visit to a Hungarien seller of rare antique books, with a special section on items of Jewish interest. And it gave an account of Reland’s famous research. She knew the writer, named Avi Goldreich who purported to translate Reland’s book from the Latin to Hebrew Avi seems to travel around looking for ancient items of specific Jewish interest. , and they both are verbrente Nationalists. I think she translated from the Hebrew to English and signed her name at the bottom, which is how I came to know about her. She seems about 70 ish, and sharp as a needle. prickly as a hedgehog. that you can find on the site”Think-Israel”.

So all you have to do, now that I’ve done all the work for you, and for which you thank me profusely, is to type in Hadrani Relandi, and a little down the page you’ll come across “Hadriani Relandi-Avi Goldreich; Palaestina ex Monumnetis Veteribus….”

Caution..I’n mot sure if you’ll find the Goldreich story in English, or at all, becuae I’m prety sure all the pages formats have changed. So you’ll need to do some research.

P.S. … I just keyed in “Avi Goldreich finding Hadriani Relandi’s Famous Palaestina ex Monumentis Veteribus”, and Lo ..it was the first article on the page.

Are you doing Hasbara synopses right now or what??? I did them years ago for a couple of years.

  13. @ Edgar G.:
Edgar, please remind me of the name of the European traveller who was commisioned to do a study of Eretz Israel in the 16th century and wrote that mostly Jews and Christians lived there. I asked you, recently, again, but maybe you didn’t see it. It’s important for Hasbara. There was a Wikipedia article plus the actual text online but just googling for 16th century visitors to “Palestine” his name doesn’t come up. I think it had to consecutive a’s in the middle of his name. He was from Northern Europe. All of these finds of the ancient Jewish presence leaves the left cold; only Muslims pretend there was no Jewish presence ever. The standard line is: “Who was in the majority in the 19th century?” and “You can’t go back 2 thousand years.” Even Palestinian Arab leftists here used that in the 80s. They didn’t try to pretend there was no Jewish connection at all. So, I can rebut with the fact that Jerusalem was majority Jewish for most of the 19th century but it helps to shrink their claim y showing that Arabs only became a majority very recently. Since the left back Irish Catholic claims to Northern Ireland going back to the 14th century, it? helpful in pointing out their hypocrisy, as well.

  14. Here’s an article from the American Thinker I would like to share with you all:

    January 21, 2021
Now We’ve Got Them Right Where We Want Them
    By John Green

Like many Americans, I’ve been in a funk since last November. Now it’s time to shake it off and re-engage. George Washington presided over a series of lost battles and tactical retreats during the American revolution. But each battle (regardless of outcome) weakened the enemy, and led to eventual freedom from monarchical rule. The ruling class has taken an election, but they’ve substantially weakened their position in doing so. It’s time to take stock of our relative positions and move on.

So, what is the left’s position now? They lost seats in Congress. Even more significant, they lost power in state governments. These are the same state bodies that are going to reapportion congressional districts this year. They’ve exposed their true nature to all Americans. Through their actions over the last year, they’ve revealed themselves to be petty, vindictive, dishonest autocrats. It is not an attractive look. They’ve also exposed all of their covert operators. The media, tech oligarchs, and faceless bureaucrats have taken sides — and now we know it. Much of their power came from secrecy, which they no longer have. All of this was sacrificed to drag a demented, racist has-been across the finish line. President Asterisk enters office in the weakest position of any president in recent history. We’re not at the dawn of the left’s ascendancy. They have peaked. They’re spent. I’m sure they’re not done fighting, but their strategic position is not something to envy. It’s doubtful they can retain power.

Trump’s people couldn’t fathom the depraved depths to which the Dems would go. There was a coup d’etat. via stolen election.

  16. For the foreseeable future, NO national election will have such a focussed fascination as the one just past. All other elections will be like child’s-play, and devoid of intensive interest.

I knew that the vast majority if not all the outlets which sprung up like microbes-I described them weeks ago as “bootleg” sites”-were just fantasizing, and concocting fake news to rake in the cash, and said so. But always hoped that Trump would be his usual one step ahead.

He was, but the Dems were 2 steps ahead, and also had the Supreme Court, backing them. They should all burn.

Speaking for myself only of course.

What will Israel do about Iran now. I DO hope they were prescient enough to get some bunker busters from the US. Or have a perfect means of delivering an EMP over a specific area. Until now, Iran has been mostly bluster, but with Biden/Obama…..

They are 80 mill people and have had about 60,000 Virus deaths, almost nothing in percentage terms. That is, if they were virus deaths, and if they are not under-reporting….. The only good thing about the virus is that it seems to like Iranian government high officials.

  17. @ Hund:
Hi, Hund. I was hoping to see the current situation through the eyes of a Holocaust survivor. I have more distant relatives who suffered deportations and death under the Nazis; but I also have a long line who established and lived under freedom.

I also have a daughter and grandchildren living as expats in Communist China. I visited them there ten years ago, when it was much more free. Even so, I got my first taste of advanced surveilance and censorship. What we are currently living through in the US is worse than what we experienced in China; and it stands to get worse in both countries.

Before the inauguration, US-China relations were getting strained; but I was confident that if Donald Trump would get a second term, his personal friendship with Xi and good business sense would help keep things from getting out of hand; but now with Biden in the throne, along with his erratic behavior, incompetence and history of warmongering, I’m resigned that our relations will start unraveling.

One good aspect of Biden’s *presidency, is that I no longer have to worry whether my children and grandchildren will be safer here than they are there: In either place, they and we live only by God’s grace: There is no hope in the arm of flesh.

When they start putting us on trains, we won’t have a Palestinian Mandate to flee to, nor an America to fight our enemies. We have God, Whom, whether we live or die, we will see shortly.

Thank you for your kind comments to Ted.

You have no sensitivity for the feelings others, but at least let our massive disappointment work it’s course before making your 5 ton “hints”……….!!

  20. @ Ted Belman:

    Dear Mr. Belman,

I criticized you and others here for those videos. I know Communism very well, so I didn’t believe just one word. But, to be honest, I’m no different, I also hoped for something to happen.

You have a good heart, Sir. I respect your tireless work and I’m very thankful for all that you are doing for all of us with Israpundit, for Israel, and the USA.
Now, let’s forget all this and move on.

We are being in a very dark and dangerous period, but there will come a better time one day. I’m sure that G’d will help us, unless we won’t waste too much time with being down, but fight on.

Compared to the hell our parents and grandparents had to endure, this is just nothing, nothing, just a piece of cake!

Israel is stronger than it ever was. There is a powerful movement in the USA. And the Left is self-destructing.

But don’t get me wrong. Iran is about to complete the bomb and a counterstrike like ’67 might unleash Hisbollah’s 150,000 rockets. Not to mention Gaza. The most dreadful war.
The Western elitists, the EU and China, the UN have the upper hand and they are destroying just about everything that makes life worth living.

Honestly, I have no idea what to do and I’m frightened as hell. I’m really terrified.

But when I think I can’t stand it anymore, I remind myself of my grandfather Leon, who survived Stutthof, where the Germans have made soap and lampshades from us or out of us. He later even survived Polish Communist prison (for which crime, by the way? Just for trading goods from the port city of Gdynia to his old home in Rzeszow!) which he deemed to been even worse than the Konzentrationslager, where our noble German friends tried to eliminate us vermins.

Our ancestors were much stronger, much more resilient, and harder than we are today. We are too soft, we are downright weaklings compared to them.

I know that talk is cheap, but let us never forget our parents and/ or grandparents, let us never lose hope. Let us constantly remind us of our strengths. Let us never forget where we come from, who we are, and especially whom we owe it.

Let us never give up the belief in G’d. He presented us with everything we need to survive! We are not stupid. We are much smarter than our enemies.
But we are too gentle, oftentimes too soft. Because we do not want to fight, because we just want to live our lives in peace and freedom.

But freedom is not free, as we all know.
It is our duty to fight evil because we mustn’t disgrace our ancestors and we must fight for our children and grandchildren to provide them a better future as our parents/ grandparents did for us.
Maybe that is just the meaning of life?

    Thank you. G’d bless.

There has to be a geek out ther somewhere! The above article is truly amazing!

The known Universe has been computer-modeled, and is shown to be a 1^27x replica of the human brain. Our “intelligence” results from the firing of neurons, transmitting signals along a network. The universe consists of a network with identical features, even the same number of connections around the nodes; and it fires with events such as novas and supernovas. Our neurons connect to nerves, and ultimately to external physical events; and the universal “brain” connects physically to us. Considering this “brain” as the repository of The Universal Law, one “thought” of the Author of this Law would manifest as a celestial or terrestrial event. If events like supernovae are old hat to the “brain”, then earthquakes, magnetic storms and meteor collisions are a “piece of cake”

University of Bologna astrophysicist Franco Vazza and University of Verona neurosurgeon Alberto Feletti document the extraordinary similarities between the cosmic network of galaxies and the complex web of neurons in the human brain. The detailed study was published in the journal Frontiers in Physics showcasing the human brain has roughly 27 orders of magnitude separated in scale, while similarly, the composition of the cosmic web shows comparable levels of complexity and self-organization, according to the researchers.

  26. I was referring to your post to Bear about the Trump’s twitter about the transfer of power. I actually read the section governing it, and it was to do with the items I mentioned. It also mentioned stationary, and expenses for postage etc. They are only preliminary stages which really mean bothing….so far…..I hope…!!

I saw Jerome Corsi sayingthat Powell knew nothingabout computers although she thinks she does, and doesn’t completely finsh the goals of most of her cases. I don’t know what he was about .Also saif that Trump a asked Carlson to quiz her about the facts, so that she would be conned into behaving in a way which would cause her to be separated from the TEAM…etc. Very self assured he was too. Like a pompous bullfrog pontificating about his own achievements..Took credit for a lot.

  27. @ Edgar G.:
Guiliani said that it’s about them having different legal theories about how to pursue the case before the courts. I presume he is referring to her focusing on Dominion and Scytle and his focusing on the denial of equal protections for Republican voters as well as the unconstitutionality of courts and officials usurping the powers of the state legislatures to make the rules, and at the last minute, moreover.

Ignore all of the “noise”. The MSM, the alleged “distancing” from Powell, the GSA issue, some setbacks in lower courts, etc., this is all “noise”.
It all boils down to the Supreme Court. As in 2000 with Bush versus Gore, they will wind up as being the ultimate arbiters of this election. Until it gets to them, everything else is just, well, noise.
I believe overwhelmingly solid cases will be presented to the Supreme Court that will in turn lead to President Trump’s ultimate victory. However, I am not 100% certain of the behavior of the SCOTUS, or even 70% sure…more like 55%.
We have to acknowledge that judges, even at the highest level, are human beings. They can possibly be bought, threatened, or intimidated. It is apparent that even Justice Roberts is already compromised.
Very powerful people and interests are extremely threatened by a Trump second term. They will go to very great lengths to stop him. It would not surprise me if, for example, these interests approached the relevant figures behind the scenes and said something like, “Look the other way and let this go, and there will be a cool $500 million in a Swiss bank account waiting for you. But if you vote against us, then you and your family will never be safe.”
I hope and pray with every fiber of my being that the integrity of our judiciary holds, and will not be permitted to sink to the level of a two-bit banana republic. I believe that the chances are at least better than even odds that they will do their duty and defend the Republic. If they do not, truth be known, we lost our country long before this election.
That is the hill we are defending in this battle; nothing else really matters now.
    Stout Hearts, all.

  30. Election Contest Claims 15,000 Voters in Nevada Also Voted Outside the State
BY MIMI NGUYEN LY November 18, 2020 Updated: November 18, 2020 Print
Nevada’s Republican Party announced a new election contest on Nov. 17 to “throw out fraud and ensure election integrity,” citing a slew of alleged voting irregularities that include claims of evidence that 15,000 people who voted in Nevada also voted in another state.

The election contest (pdf), filed in Carson City District Court by Nevada Electoral College candidates who pledged to President Donald Trump, is contesting the results of the presidential election in Nevada. It alleges “substantial irregularities, improprieties, and fraud” that occurred in the election, and that Nevada election officials put in effect an election system that was “highly susceptible to fraud and abuse.”

    Related Coverage

“Evidence will show that the nature and scale of that fraud and abuse renders the purported results of the Nevada election illegitimate,” the contest reads.

Former Nevada Attorney General and Trump campaign Nevada co-chair Adam Laxalt said the contest alleges many mail-in votes were “improperly cast.”

“We are presenting today in our formal contest, that there are north of 15,000 people who voted in Nevada and another state. We are presenting that people that had already done a change of address and left the state outside of the 30-day requirement, their ballots were still cast. We are also presenting dead voters,” he told a news conference on Nov. 17.

He took issue with Clark County’s system whereby a complaint has to be lodged in order for an issue to be investigated regarding a contested vote. “I will only leave one example: If a person has died, and that ballot was mailed to someone’s home, and someone voted that ballot, who is going to complain about that vote cast? No one, quite clearly. So the system isn’t investigating these things,” Laxalt said.

Among other alleged voting irregularities raised, the contest took issue with the reliability of the signature scanning machine used in Clark County, Laxalt said. He pointed to how no professional election integrity body has certified the machine (Agilis machine), and how election personnel manually adjusted the factory settings of the machines to 40 percent of a signature match.

Chair of the American Conservative Union and Trump campaign representative Matt Schlapp on Nov. 17 denounced the widespread unsolicited mail-in ballots across the state. This, coupled with various changes in Nevada election rules just before Election Day that allegedly decreased ballot security and “almost” eliminated signature verification, have resulted in unprecedented voting irregularities in Clark County, he said.

The county has seen multiple complaints over voting irregularities. On Nov. 16, the county tossed results of a local election after a canvass showed 139 discrepancies in a battleground district.

“In all my years in politics, I have never seen the types of voter irregularity we have seen in Clark County,” Schlapp told a news conference. “The zeal to push reckless unsolicited mail-in voting resulted in 50 percent of ballots coming through the mail and a tenfold increase in mail ballots in Clark County. … Nevada and Clark County have created this crisis, reckless unsolicited mail-in voting has created this crisis.”

Dan Kulin, the Clark County Election Department’s public information officer, said in an emailed statement that the allegations in the latest election contest appear to be repeated allegations that are “misstating and misrepresenting evidence” provided in prior proceedings that courts “have already rejected” and “parroting erroneous allegations made by partisans without first-hand knowledge of the facts.”

“For example, they mentioned observation of the process, and the use of the Agilis machine to assist with signature verification, which they continue to inaccurately explain. On both of these issues, state and federal courts have already rejected their allegations,” he said.

The Nevada secretary of state didn’t respond to The Epoch Times’ request for comment by press time.

Biden declared victory over the 2020 presidential election on Nov. 7 despite that the 538 electors of the Electoral College have yet to elect the next president. Trump has disputed Biden’s claim, and his campaign has launched multiple legal challenges alleging a variety of voting irregularities across a number of battleground states.

The Epoch Times won’t declare a winner of the 2020 presidential election until all results are certified and any legal challenges are resolved.

  31. Republicans Pursuing 16 Post-Election Challenges in 4 States
BY IVAN PENTCHOUKOV November 23, 2020 Updated: November 23, 2020 Print
The reelection campaign of President Donald Trump and a handful of Republican groups are litigating more than a dozen active post-election cases in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, and Nevada as of Nov. 23, with some of the cases already moving up the judicial pyramid.

The plaintiffs are racing against time with just over two weeks left until the safe-harbor deadline on Dec. 8, when the states are supposed to have resolved all disputes and settled the vote counts. The legal pathways toward altering the election outcome will narrow significantly after the safe-harbor marker, given that the Supreme Court ended one post-election dispute in Florida in 2000 because it wasn’t completed by that deadline.

An Arizona judge dismissed the last post-election legal challenge by Republicans in the state last week. The Grand Canyon state’s recount law doesn’t allow aggrieved parties to request recounts and the campaign fell two-tenths of a percentage point short of the margin needed for an automatic audit. The state’s deadline for certifying the election results is Nov. 30.

Likewise, Republicans have no election lawsuits pending in Wisconsin, where a recount of the presidential election is ongoing in two counties. The Badger State is scheduled to certify its election results on Dec. 1, a day after Arizona. A recount is also pending in Georgia.

With 79 electoral votes between them, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada will likely decide the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. The Epoch Times will not call a winner until members of the House and Senate—between Jan. 6 and Jan. 20—count the electoral votes and pick the president.

Enough votes are at stake in the lawsuits in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia to alter the outcome of the election, but only if the courts in each state deny former Vice President Joe Biden the victory he unofficially claimed earlier this month. Biden is the projected winner in all six states and Trump has a substantial legal hurdle to clear to defy the projections, even if the recounts in Wisconsin and Georgia reverse the unofficial outcomes.

The president’s election legal team has nonetheless projected confidence that the court challenges will result in an ultimate victory for Trump. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, the lead attorney on the team, said at a press conference last week that the battle ahead is about more than overturning the projected results.

“We are confident that through these multiple pathways to victory, we will get to the actual outcome that the evidence shows,” Giuliani said, after alleging a number of types of election malfeasance and widespread voter fraud.

“This is not about overturning an election on our part, it’s about making sure that we protect and preserve free and fair elections for all future American elections,” he said. “If the United States caves to corruption or this type of election integrity disaster, then no election will be secure from here on out, and we all need to be keenly aware of that.”

Legal scholar Alan Dershowitz, who represented the president during the impeachment trial but is not part of the election effort, was less confident about the outcome.

“I think that President Trump is running out of legal challenges,” Dershowitz told The Epoch Times. “He may have the law on his side in Pennsylvania and maybe some other states, but he doesn’t have the numbers, or the evidence, at this point in time. The margin of victory in Pennsylvania seems to exceed the number of challenged votes, and the evidence of computer glitches or tampering—I haven’t seen it yet.”

    Pennsylvania
The Trump campaign and Republicans have nine active lawsuits in the Keystone State, more than all the other states combined. The campaign’s flagship case in the commonwealth—Trump v. Boockvar—was dismissed by a federal judge on Nov. 21 and the campaign swiftly appealed to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Giuliani said in a statement that the prompt dismissal helped speed the case along to the Supreme Court.

Days earlier, Republicans asked the Supreme Court to review another lawsuit, Bognet v. Boockvar. The Third Circuit on Nov. 13 sided with the defendants in that case in an opinion that forced the Trump campaign to significantly revise its original complaint in Trump v. Boockvar, narrowing the number of counts from seven to two and later acknowledging that only one of the two remaining counts was included for the purposes of subsequent appeal.

A new lawsuit filed by a Republican lawmaker and several GOP congressional candidates over the weekend, Kelly v. Pennsylvania, seeks to either block the certification of election results or to exclude mail ballots from the count. The plaintiffs allege that Pennsylvania’s vote-by-mail statute violates the commonwealth’s constitution.

In a handful of other cases, Republicans are challenging small batches of votes. A judge tossed 113 such disputed votes in six of these lawsuits on Nov. 23.

    Michigan
Michigan certified its election result on Nov. 23, declaring Biden the winner in the state. The Trump campaign and a right-wing group nonetheless have two pending lawsuits in the Wolverine State.

The campaign lawsuit, Trump v. Benson, is pending appeal by the Michigan Court of Appeals. The appeal sought an order from the court directing the Michigan secretary of state to “direct local election jurisdictions to allow election challengers to observe the processing and adjudicating of ballots and election challengers to observe video recordings of absent voter ballot drop off boxes according to Michigan law.”

It is unclear if the appeal will stand given that Michigan has certified the election results.

“Certification by state officials is simply a procedural step. We are going to continue combatting election fraud around the country as we fight to count all the legal votes. Americans must be assured that the final results are fair and legitimate,” Jenna Ellis, Trump campaign senior legal adviser, said in a statement.

The certification of the results may nonetheless revive another lawsuit, which the Trump campaign dismissed after Republicans on the board of canvassers in Wayne County rescinded their votes for the certification of the county’s election results. The campaign sought the same result in its lawsuit and filed a voluntary dismissal after the Board of Canvassers members signed affidavits withdrawing their votes. The statewide certification, which overrides the Wayne County decision, is likely to revive the lawsuit.

The Trump campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

A separate third-party lawsuit, Costantino v. Detroit, is on appeal before the Michigan Supreme Court. The plaintiffs in that lawsuit sought to block the certification and demanded either an audit or a new election.

    Nevada
Republicans have four active cases in front of the state court in the Silver State. The only federal case—Stokke v. Cegavske—though technically active, has not had a filing for days after a judge rejected a motion for an injunction.

“Technically the case is active, however, all of the relief requested in the complaint could only be granted prior to the completion of vote counting,” Robert Kern, an attorney for the plaintiffs, wrote in an email to The Epoch Times. “So while the case remains, any chance for it to accomplish anything ended with the denial of their motion for an injunction.”

The Trump campaign is backing an election contest—Law v. Whitmer—brought by the president’s electors against the electors for Biden. The lawsuit alleges widespread voter fraud, including a claim that 15,000 people who voted in Nevada also voted in other states.

The attorney for the plaintiffs in a lawsuit brought by Daniel Rodimer, a Republican candidate for office, called on the judge in the case, Gloria Sturman, to recuse because she belongs to a Democratic group with a stated goal of flipping House seats. Sturman declined to recuse and referred the motion to the court’s chief judge. Rodimer is challenging the use of ballot-processing machines and asking the court to order a new election.

Lawsuits brought by two other Republican candidates for office are also challenging the use of ballot machines. A hearing is scheduled for Nov. 24 in the case brought by April Becker, a candidate for Nevada Senate. Republican House candidate Jim Marchant will have his case heard on Jan. 5. Both plaintiffs are calling for a new election.

    Georgia
A lone lawsuit is still active in Georgia, which wrapped up a risk-limiting audit and certified its election results last week. In Wood v. Raffensperger, an attorney associated with the Trump campaign sued Georgia’s secretary of state seeking to enjoin the certification of the election results. A federal judge dismissed the motion for an injunction.

Wood’s original filing included sworn affidavits from people who witnessed the risk-limiting audit and alleged alarming errors and potential fraud. Three witnesses alleged that Trump votes were counted for Biden. At least eight others said they witnessed batches of pristine, uncreased absentee ballots. The condition of the ballots was a red flag because absentee ballots are folded in order to be placed in a privacy envelope, regardless of whether they’re cast in person or by mail.

Republican attorneys have also hinted that the campaign is ready to file a major lawsuit in the Peach State with allegations not yet raised in any of its other litigation.

I just saw it was double posted……This is crazy, the machine has taken it’s own course, and no longer obeys “man”……….”The Age Of the Machine”….Beware…

That was actually a neglected but excellently acted film. I always liked Frank Morgan who underplayed his roles. I recall that film, I actually saw it twice, many years apart. I recall how Frank Morgan looked so suspicious, with his whitish moustache , very grave expression and lowered eyes, moving anonymously around, and etc.

The mashuggena Israpundit compluter has marked my post as a repeat, but it isn’t, so I’m adding this bit of nonsense to see if it will go through. Possibly it was accepted without my knowing, and it IS repeat, but we’ll only know when it’s printed.

Well, the first line of the post hasn’t appeared at the top of “Recent Comments” as usual although far more time has elapsed to allow “edit” to run, than needed. , so here goes…

It was directed by Roy Rowland and produced by Robert Sisk from an original screenplay by Isobel Lennart and William Kozlenko. The film has a music score by Daniele Amfitheatrof and Nathaniel Shilkret, and cinematography by Sidney Wagner.

    Plot
Quietly planning to go duck hunting, John Josephus (Joe) Grant, a U.S. Supreme Court justice, tells his secretary Lucy Gilbert where he will be but no one else. A fish-and-game warden promptly insists he pay an extra fee for a license and toss in a “tip”. Grant refuses and ends up in town, facing possible criminal charges.

There he discovers honest lawyer Bill Adams, running for mayor against the incumbent, Connison, someone he considers to be corrupt. Judge Austin Harkley, businessman Blaxton and even the sheriff appear to be in the mayor’s pocket, and when Bill is insulted and throws a punch, they conspire to keep him in jail.

Joe intervenes on Bill’s behalf without telling anyone his true identity. He helps free Bill in the first legal dispute, then does likewise for Lucy after she shows up and is denied a room at the local hotel for no good reason. Joe ultimately admits who he really is, causing Bill to faint. Once he recovers, his political career begins.
