“We support, obviously, that that solution has to be based on the ’67 border, with mutually agreed upon swaps, as President Obama said,”
How disappointing.

Another wimp. So much for Canadian “guts”.
“I will call all nations against Jerusalem into battle.” Yep; that kinda tells ya
what to expect.

Harper is a politician who does not stray far from the American geo-political position. He realized quite quickly that his original pro-Israeli stance placed him too far away from where Obama stood. What he did is called “pragmatic realignment.”
Does Obama’s postion on a peace deal predicated on the 1948 armistice line with some territorial swaps truly reflect a new American position or has he just stated what was before implied?
The various past statements on the goal of a 2 state solution contemplates Israel giving up J & S to the Palestinians with some adjustments for existing Israeli community expansion into J & S and for security needs.
Put another way, has the 2 state solution not always contemplated Israel, subject to certain territorial adjustments in its favor, relinquishing control of J & S in favor of the Palestinians which theoretically at least would be the lands for a new Palestinian state over which that state would declare its sovereignty?
I don’t think we’ve heard the end of this yet.
I should have known Stephen Harper was too good to be true.
“How disappointing”?
What exactly did you seriously expect him to say, Ted?
I never allow anything or anybody to disappoint me. And on that basis, I sleep much better at night.
