This election was more of an earthquake than the conservative victory on Nov 2/10 in the US.
Not only did Harper’s Conservatives win a solid majority of 167 seats, the Liberals suffered a crushing defeat down to 34 seats and the Bloc Quebecois was anialated and got only 4 seats. In the previous government they held 77 and 47 respectively.
A surprise wiinner was the NDP party which got 102 seats, a historic high. Enough to make them the official opposition. This is a Party of the Left. It is anti-Israel, anti-American and pro-Muslim. Most of its gains came rom Quebec which is antisemitic.
I should point out that the Liberals were lead by Michael Ignatieff, a former Harvard professor. He lost his own seat and destroyed the once vaunted Party of Pierre Trudeau.
My friend Peter Kent was re-elected by a wide margin in Thornhill which is on Toronto’s northern border and contains the highest percentage of Jews. John Carmichael, another friend, was elected in Don Valley West in Toronto. Conservatives were also elected in other Jewish districts in Toronto.
A great victory for Conservatives and conservatism, not to mention Israel.

The Nobel Prizes you mention, (admittedly those who get them deserve credit) are only participated in by some ocuntries not all, and only since when? not a long time.
During the short time we had, we revolutionised humanity like no other group did. Europe got all her knowledge from the Muslim Caliphates. You had that opportunity since the time of Moses, but Mohammed is the most influential man in history, not any other.

why is that just about every single country where Islam rules is nothing less than an underachieving abominable stinkhole? Absolutely nothing, as I noted above, comes out of these countries. Nothing invented, no progress of any sort whether scientific or in the realm of human relations. Muslims for the most part live in a cesspool of poverty (except for the dictators and/or those sitting on top of an ocean of oil). Why is that almost every week some new invention, discovery, etc.,comes out of Israel? The Popes wanted the Holy Land (Jerusalem) for themselves. The Crusades were not about ending Muslim rule (the most spectacular empires in History were Muslim) and the reason they we didn’t bother after Charles Martel, was because of the cold climate. Had we chosen, the entire Europe would have been Muslim, which it will be in about 30-40 years from now. I find it ironic you defending the Crusades, when they killed the infidel Muslims and Jews too. Why were you fighting on the side of Muslims if the Crusaders wanted their land back? They wouldve welcomed anyone on their side then.

Saffiyah, I am not attacking Islam or calling on you to defend Islam.
I am however asking you to explain the meaning and context of teachings of Islam, in both past and today’s context that:
1. specifically incite mistrust, intolerance for and hatred of infidels with Jews topping the list, Christians 2nd and others 3rd?
2 calling for the death and subjugation of non-Muslims and Jews in particular?
3. In respect of non-Muslims subjugated by Muslims, commands that Muslims demand and receive the Jizyah from non-Muslims to live as 2nd class dhimmis in a Muslim society, failing which they are to be killed?
3. divide the world into dar al Islam and dar al harb and incite all Muslims to Jihad against dar al harb until such time as Islam is the dominant world religion?
4. declare that any land that once was under Islam and lost through conquest, must be re-conquered, returned to Islam and to that end, incites all Muslims to Jihad to achieve that?
5. empower men to beat or otherwise mistreat their wives if their wives should not obey their commands or treat any woman poorly who displeases them?
6. condones what has become known as honor killings, almost always the murder of a Muslim woman at the hands of the father or male siblings?
7. the word of a Muslim woman (like that of a non-Muslim) is not worth as much as a Muslim man’s, which puts a much higher burdern of proof on a woman to prove her case in an Islamic court than a Muslim man
8. call for death to apostates, which teachings have prompted death fatwas from a number of imams over the years, some of which fatwas have been carried out?
As a self confessed staunch proud Muslim, I presume you are learned in Islam. It is with those assumptions that I am asking do you believe Islamic teachings such as the foregoing, must be literally followed by every Muslim to this day? Do you believe these doctrines are no longer relevant and adhered to? Is there a more modern interpretation of the kinds of edicts from Islam that make these teachings somehow compatible with Judeo-Christian values in the West where I presume you live?
I expect others would be most interested in your explanations in this regard.
Rather than bickering we should be congratulating Prime Minister Harper on his surprising victory. As a non-Conservative, I have admired his unequivocal stand for Israel. He did not need to go as far as he did. As our English politicians have demonstrated, a few weasel words can suffice to bring the floating Jewish voters on your side.

Any subjugation or totlitarian doesn’t come from any man or any Prophet for that matter, it comes from God. The “idiot scriptures” are the only proven Book that is unchanged. How did Mohammed know that? That is there in black and white, and history has proven that. Thus the Quran is the literal word of God. It’s you who has to suck on that.

The gains of the New Stalinist Party (NDP) are inconsequential since the CPC now has a majority. During the days of the CPC minority government, the NDP’s view had to be considered – no more; with a majority, Steven Harper can just roll over the NDP. One very important aspect: Many among the Jewish population have recovered from the childhood disease of voting Liberal. If our US cousins do the same and stop voting for Roosevelt’s party, maybe the world can get rid of The One Term Hussein Obama.
The NDP gains are insignificant inasmuch as the CPC now has a majority; while hitherto, PM Harper had to take the small NDP caucus seriously, he can now just roll over this bloated Socialist entity, and I hope he does so systematically. Israel’s great supporters, like Jason Kenney and John Baird have regained their seats, and that is very important. What I find most encouraging is the fact that Canada’s Jewish population seems to have been cured from the chronic childhood disease of voting Liberal.

Surprising in light of all the polls that pointed to another minority government, that some surmised might be a Layton/NDP government if the NDP could work out a coalition agreement with the Liberals and the Bloc Quebecois.
While I cheer this result, it does raise questions in my mind about the ability of our leading Canadian pollster organizations to accurately take the measure of Canadian opinions.
