Bye Bye Boggie

By Moshe Feiglin, JEWISH LEADERSHIP

The best thing that has resulted from the political storm churning through Israel is the ouster of current Defense Minister Bogy Ya’alon. That was not Netanyahu’s original intent. He wanted to bring the Left into the government, and it is a good thing that Labor MK Shelly Yehimovitz prevented that from happening. My assessment is that the new government will not be qualitatively different from its predecessor and except for a change of style, it will be more of the same. But all of that is behind us now. The most important thing is that Ya’alon was ousted. We can only hope that it is not too late.

Bogy Ya’alon, trumpeted as the new savior by the Right and settlers, turned out to be (surprise, surprise) a strategic disaster for Israel’s security – and no less than that – for the state of its democracy and liberty. I believe Ehud Barak’s testimony that Ya’alon was the man who tipped the scales against an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Such an attack – even if it had failed to achieve its tactical goal – would have restored Israel’s strategic stance according to which the State of Israel was not established to once again rely on US or British pilots. Even if an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities had failed, it would have made it crystal clear that Israel’s strategy is based on the adage of our Sages, “If someone rises to kill you, kill him first” – whether the attacker is a powerful country overseas or a knife-wielding terrorist in Hebron. But Ya’alon preferred the strategy of containment upon which he was raised in his youth on a leftist kibbutz. He upgraded Iran’s world status and opened the door for its great victory over Israel.

Two years ago, during Operation Protective Edge, Ya’alon led the strategy of containment of the Hamas. The political-security echelon, headed by Ya’alon, emitted confused orders, laden with concepts that included everything – except victory. The result was that after almost two months of goal-less fighting, the IDF had suffered 70 casualties in the tunnels and alleyways of Gaza, left two bodies of Israeli soldiers behind – and retreated. Bugy Ya’alon is leaving behind an army that has become the most sophisticated junkyard of modern arms and advanced technology that exists. He leaves behind the largest, strongest and most inflated army that Israel has ever seen. But it is an army that is incapable of winning any battle. Except for the real battle that Ya’alon introduced: the battle against the settlers.

Under the instruction and with the encouragement of Ya’alon, a new stage in Israel’s history has unfolded. Under pressure from the media and the Left, tens of minors were arrested and severely tortured (with the full support of the Jewish Home party) for no reason other than to keep the Left happy with Bogy. The absolute majority of the youth were released without an indictment – but they did suffer serious emotional damage that will likely haunt them the rest of their lives. (Apparently, the house in Duma was burned by the Arab locals, as was the case before and after the event in question).

But worst of all was Ya’alon’s participation in the quiet ‘trend’ of the military coup that was beginning to take form in Israel.

The shooting of the terrorist in Hebron presented Israeli society with a choice between two approaches: The Jewish perspective, according to which the elimination of a terrorist willing to die in order to murder Jews is ethical and imperative – and the European approach, lacking morality, seamlessly equating between good and evil: The type of approach that turns Nazis into victims and the Jews into the new Nazis.

The upper echelons of the IDF, educated and advanced over the years on the basis of loyalty to these ideas, suddenly became the great hope of the Left. The soldier from Hebron was turned into a national enemy. The Chief of Staff explained that “If someone rises to kill you, kill him first” is not the IDF’s strategy. The Deputy Chief of Staff equated those who subscribe to that value with Nazis. The radical Left Ha’aretz newspaper rather openly called for a military coup and the Defense Minister, Moshe Bogey Ya’alon, backed up and encouraged this entire process on every stage and at every ceremony.

I have no great expectations of Lieberman. Rightist ideology and power bereft of clear purpose always becomes a double-edged sword. It would behoove us all to remember former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who was no less rightist and forceful than Lieberman. But all that we can say to Ya’alon is good-bye and good riddance.

I agree, israel would need to maintain the same military

I see no benefit to Israel in agreeing to Saudi peace plan as it would not include Hamas or Hezbollah nor Iran and economically not much there for us. We can’t trust any agreement made with Arabs is worth the ink on the paper and for how long?

I agree, israel would need to maintain the same military as now with no benefits therefrom…. not even any spoils for the wars it enters.

The monarchies through the IPO will make their assets easily transportable and useable when they abscond to the west. they have never shown any desire to be anywhere else than in the west, for money and fun.

I have a suspician that their actual reserves are much lower than the reported reserves….. How much is a state secret.

Oil is renewable. you need to catch up with the latest scientific theories.

  4. There are not a single stable Arab regime and that includes the Saudis, saudis to issue IPO on their oil co and reserves???

  5. Report: Arab countries willing to change peace initiative

Saudi Arabia, the Gulf states, Jordan and Egypt reportedly prepared to change their attitude towards Israel in exchange for peace with PA.

they are expecting to receive from Israel a response to the Saudi peace initiative and are also expecting Israel to make gestures towards the Palestinians in Judea and Samaria, so that peace talks can be relaunched and those countries could ultimately change their public attitude to Israel.

But Israel has rejected the plan due to the fact that it calls for Israel to accept the so-called “right of return” for millions of descendants of Arabs who fled pre-state Israel, effectively bringing an end to the Jewish state.

the messages conveyed to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu implied that the Arab states are ready to discuss with Israel some changes in the initiative,…

BB has put Israel between a rock and a hard place… he has made it appear that Israel has no land claims… only security concerns… if the arabs forego the right of return then what will BB say beyond security. BB has made it the trending fashion that the jews have no claim to Judea Samaria, except the major blocks… a big mistake….. even a fool would not have given more than half of YS away. This is likely the reason why BB has kept the freeze and made sure the Jews stay in their euro designated ghetto boundaries, I have said this many times.

  6. Barak warns of ‘fascism’ in Israel’s government;

The veteran politician,…called the circumstances in which Ya’alon was removed from his post a “purge,” employing the term used to describe the elimination of political opponents by Joseph Stalin in the Soviet Union.

Like I keep saying, there is no reason for Israelis to complain of foreign lies, foreign libels, foreign incitement because as usual we can see that the most despicable and disgusting incitements, lies, libels, incitements to lynch mobs, everything in the past associated with the cause of pogroms and genocide of the Jews…… IT ALL BEGINS IN ISRAEL WITH THE JEWS OF ISRAEL…..

the cause of revenge stabbings of Israelis, the cause of the daily attacks on Jews in the diaspora, on Jewish children in american universities and schools in france…. the murderers of these children HAVE BEEN INCITED BY, AND DRAWN THEIR INPIRATION AND BLOOD LIBELS FROM…. ISRAELI JEWS, ISRAELI LEADERSHIP…..

when achmed slaughters jewish children it is because of the lies of apartheid, of jews killing pal children, of jews being nazis, or as golan the yaalon stooge said becoming nazis, of jews being fascists as barak is lying about now… this foreign paid mole calling Israel a fascist nation because he and his clique of paid foreign mole opportunists want to take back the gov and will even scream fire in a crowded cinema if it gets them what they want.

There is no difference between the blood libels that incited mobs to pogrom and the lies, incitement and hysteria being spread by Yaalon at Duma, Golan on Yom Ha Shoah, Barak today, the lies against the settlers the soldiers all meant to get them their gov and give the foreigners what they want.

Ya’alon at the time sided with the army and strongly condemned the soldier’s actions,

what a bald faced lie…. yaalon never sided with the army, yaalon tried to use his postition of commander to influence the investigators at Duma and with the soldier to come up with evidence to support yaalons bogus charges. Yaalon tried to influence the prosecutors to an indictment and succeeded by repeating his mantra of a guilty soldier… this revisionist narrative is typical of those who libel jews and Israel…. the army NEVER agreed with Yaalon only his stooge Golan whom all of Israel disagreed with him. theinvestigators and prosecutors were intimidated by yaalons daily speeches exhorting them to come up with a guilty verdict, an unheard of behavior in any civilized nation…. and yet the lying Israeli blood libeling left who now call, just like the BDS nazis… who now call Israel fascist and nazi…. and soon the world will pick up their lies just like the Ukrainians who murdered the jews in a pogrom in Lvov picked up on the nazi lies of jewish bolsheviks murdering ukrainians…. yaalon did the same at duma, Barak does the same today, livni reinforces the lies with her narrative that liberman and BB did not side with the army’s ethics…and yet how can it be ethical for the commander to declare the guilt before an investigation begins…. these despicable libelers have no problem with the fascist nazi tactics of der fuehrer yaalon when he incarcerates jews with no evidence… those creatures are happy as long as he is persecuting the real zionists while the fake zionists only platform is to give the jewish homeland to the nazis. these fake zionists remind me of the church replacement theology where the church needs to see the failure of the real jews in order for their narrative to be succesful… same with these fake foreign paid mole “zionists”….. only an idiot could accept that appelation.
All of the Jews problems begin with the lying foreign funded fake zionists who accuse Israel of being nazis, fascists, apartheid, baby killers, murderers of civilians,….. Barak is disgusting and despicable.

  7. @ rsklaroff:That is a real possibility. He has implied that is what he will do.

Israel needs another party like a whole in the head. Gideon Saar could form another Party with Ya’alon.

The question who would they pull voters from? Likud maybe a little or will it be more Yesh Atid? It is all premature.

    Ya’alon is not so charsmatic.

  8. @ rsklaroff:
He could no longer work with the Prime Minister. He said this was moral reasons but the obvious truth his feelings were hurt.

Lieberman was Ya’alon’s biggest critic and he was getting the job Ya’alon basically worked and trained for his entire life.

Bottom line is he was too pissed off to keep working with Bibi.

He became expendable when he became too big for his britches and thought he was superior to his fellow Likudniks including the Prime Minister. He was acting like a dictator in Judah/Samaria. The power had gone to his head.

I had admired him for years but lately he really lost the plot.

  9. MK vows to boycott Yehuda Glick’s swearing-in

Knesset members exhibit mixed reactions to prospect of Temple Mount rights activist joining the government.
    http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/212571#.Vz8aEfkrLIU

its quite despicable, and downright sick, that there is a segment of jewish Israelis who seek to condemn those seeking the rights of Jews to pray at Jewish holy sites in the one and only Jewish homeland. Such Jews are reminiscent of the Judenrat whose only mission was to control the uppity jews on the instructions of the nazis. their job then and now was to keep the jews in their euro designated ghetto boundaries. Such a twisted perspective leads to ludicrous oxymorons where they declare themselves to be zionists when their prime mission is to give the Jewish homeland to muslims to build their homes and obstruct Jewish settlement as if it were a disease. In my view those jews do not deserve the jewish sanctuary.

“It’s an appropriate substitution for this ‘hilltop youth’ government,” Zionist Union MK Erel Margalit stated Friday morning.

Fellow Zionist Union MK Yael Cohen-Paran said Friday she would boycott Glick’s swearing-in ceremony.

“The Knesset went through an earthquake with the departure of a moral person [Ya’alon – ed.] and his replacement with an extreme, dangerous, and delusional person,” Cohen-Paran claimed.

cohen paran considers to be a “moral person” he who incarcerated jews without evidence; incited a lynch mob on his incarcerated jews; instructed through speeches his subordinates to find without evidence his targets of terror guilty. they have the same morals as der fuehrer.

  10. Ya’alon warns of ‘dangerous’ forces who ‘took over’ Likud, Israel
    http://www.timesofisrael.com/leaving-politics-yaalon-warns-of-extremist-dangerous-forces-who-took-over-likud-israel/

Yaalon appears to be smitten with a bout of psychological projection because the most dangerous force in Israel is undoubtedly Yaalon himself: what could be more dangerous than a man at the top who has just been relieved of a reign of terror against dissenters, nationalists and real zionists? What could be more dangerous than a leader who abuses his position of power and authority to incarcerate dissenters without evidence; what could be more dangerous than a leader who incites a public mob against the dissenters he incarcerates without evidence: who instructs investigators and prosecutors to declare the innocent guilty?
IMO yaalon is a megalomaniac who has raised himself above his job description of getting his job done according to the wishes of the electorate to now seeing himself as a leader who dictates to the citizens using his “ethics” as the cover for his reign of terror.
he says that Israel needs a “leader with ethics” as opposed to a leader who is an employee hired to do a job… his perspective of what kind of leader Israel needs is more like a fuehrer.

Israel should beware Yaalon, he is dangerous, he has an egotistical megalomaniacal view of his position in the world. Beware of his links to foreigners and their desire to use him as a “dangerous force” to take over Israel. Israel has been spared future reigns of terror on dissenters from this criminal who should be in jail for the moment but Israelis should demand an investigation into his abuse of authority and power and the evil damage he did to those who stood in his way.

“It is intolerable in my view that we should be divided amongst ourselves because of cynicism and lust for power, …

it is uncanny how he describes himself to a tee as he is the one who instituted a war on dissenters, nationalists and real zionists… seeking to defame and delegitimize them just as the world defames and delegitimizes Israel. He used every criminal tactic and abuse of his position to achieve his goal of dividing the nation….. I see only evil in his soul.
