Bush gets it

President’s Address to the Nation

[..] The consequences of failure are clear: Radical Islamic extremists would grow in strength and gain new recruits. They would be in a better position to topple moderate governments, create chaos in the region, and use oil revenues to fund their ambitions. Iran would be emboldened in its pursuit of nuclear weapons. Our enemies would have a safe haven from which to plan and launch attacks on the American people. On September the 11th, 2001, we saw what a refuge for extremists on the other side of the world could bring to the streets of our own cities. For the safety of our people, America must succeed in Iraq.

“Succeeding in Iraq also requires defending its territorial integrity and stabilizing the region in the face of extremist challenges. This begins with addressing Iran and Syria. These two regimes are allowing terrorists and insurgents to use their territory to move in and out of Iraq. Iran is providing material support for attacks on American troops. We will disrupt the attacks on our forces. We’ll interrupt the flow of support from Iran and Syria. And we will seek out and destroy the networks providing advanced weaponry and training to our enemies in Iraq.”

“The challenge playing out across the broader Middle East is more than a military conflict. It is the decisive ideological struggle of our time. On one side are those who believe in freedom and moderation. On the other side are extremists who kill the innocent, and have declared their intention to destroy our way of life. In the long run, the most realistic way to protect the American people is to provide a hopeful alternative to the hateful ideology of the enemy, by advancing liberty across a troubled region.” (White House) CONTINUE

  1. I don’t suggest that Iraq is the responsibilty of Israel, andI don’t believe anyone else has suggested it either. Do you always make things up? I do suggest that if Iraq descends into chaos,it will greatly harm Israel on a number of levels. Thus Israel should clearly hope for success of the US and Iraq government in Iraq.

    As for your comment,

I mean why should any ordinary Jewish American give a damn about Bush or about anything he and his stinkling oil rich cronies do or say

    ,

it is incontrovertibly both uninformed and deranged. But the answer, if you should need it, is that we are loyal Americans and want the best for our country as well as for the whole of Western civilization. Or some of us are and do, anyway.

  2. Uninformed and deranged…that does not advance your argument.

Iraq is not the responsibiility of Israel. The British created this country, Hitler gave it its idiology, Islam is its backbone and the US Government created Saddam.

There comes a point when Jews must say “we are not responsible” but we have a powerful army and air force, and we will defend ourselves. That means Iran, Hezbullah and the Palestinian Arabs.

What is the position of the US on all of those? On Israel’s side…I do not think so.

They the Islamists are already blood enemies of the West, they do not have to become that…

But tell that to religion of peace man Bush!

  3. Alas, I fear thar felix is uninformed at best and deranged at worst. Or both. If the US does not succeed in Iraq, it will surely become a the primary safe haven for terrorists funded by major oil revenues and a close ally of Iran.

They are most unlikely to become anything but blood enemies of all Western nations..and Israel will be first on their list to destroy. US second.

It is unbelievably short-sighted and dangerous to think otherwise.

  4. I do not know what is the interest of Israel in Iraq. Let them fight it out and that includes the US as well. It is not our fight. These Arabs have driven almost every last Jew out of their countries. As regards Bush. I mean why should any ordinary Jewish American give a damn about Bush or about anything he and his stinkling oil rich cronies do or say. I remember that meeting in the Rose Garden with the Bush arm around the shoulder of our worst enemy…Abbas. And now the money Bush is pouring into Fatah!

I say let Bush roast in hell, and the democrats with him, in Iraq!

  5. “Bush gets it”

Are you kidding me? There’s a reason our culture (the Jewish culture) is based on actions, not words.

Anyone else suspicious of the serious plunge in oil prices and new record highs set by the DOW the day after the State of the Union, given by a President with all-time low approval ratings? Maybe it all has to deal a little more with the deals being cut in Madrid, and a lot less to do with continual empty promises.

A President admitting failure… Patton would scoff! Then again, if Patton were in charge, we wouldn’t be in this mess to begin with.
