Bolton: Obama administration ‘plain wrong’ on Egypt

Washington (CNN) – Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton condemned President Obama as “weak” and “indecisive” on foreign affairs while speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference Saturday.

And specifically on the topic of the revolution in Egypt, Bolton stated “We don’t have the leadership in the White House that can deal with it.”

CPAC is the largest annual gathering of conservative-minded activists, which this year is extra-important because it’s the first cattle-call of potential 2012 Republican presidential candidates.

Bolton described the Obama administration’s approach to Egypt as “hesitant, inconsistent, confused, and just plain wrong.”

Bolton recognized the Egyptian call for democracy, but questioned the administration’s answer. “We have some degree of optimism, we can recognize that many of the people are legitimately calling for liberty and democracy as we see it,” he said.

“But we know it is a responsibility of our government to protect our government and our friends and our allies,” he continued, “Never forget Theodore Roosevelt’s response: first and foremost we must make the world safe for ourselves.”

Recommending a “careful and prudent approach,” Bolton cautioned that “A democratic election can produce illiberal results. If you want to see what a Muslim Brotherhood looks like when it takes control, look at Hamas in the Gaza strip, it’s not pretty.”

“There is no guarantee that democratic forces can keep things moving in the right direction,” he warned.

Finding fault with Obama’s treatment of national security, Bolton said, “This is a critical time where we need a president who understands priorities, not somebody who’s concerned with staying on top of media spin cycle.”

And at a time when budget recommendations are a hot topic for discussion, Bolton offered some of his own.

“This is not the time for indiscriminate budget cuts in our national defense budget. A dollar well spent on defense is much more important than a dollar spent in the Agriculture department, the Interior department.”

He closed with a rallying call to the audience, affirming, “We do not accept an American economy that is weak overtaxed and over-regulated. We do not accept an American military that is weak and poorly equipped. And in particular we do not accept an American president who is weak, indecisive, and apologetic.”

  1. John Bolton is a moldy old NeoCon who thinks the Bush wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are successes. It remains to be seen how successful Iraq will be if they don’t get a handle on their terrorists. Afghanistan is a disaster, Pakistan is a disaster. President Musharof was at least able to keep the Taliban in line. He announces he might run for president again, and the Bhutto widower accuses him of murdering her. Meanwhile the widower murders Pakistan. Bolton is kidding himself if he thinks he is a viable presidential candidate, but it would get him a mention in American history.

I hope America pulls out of Afghanistan as soon as possible. There is nothing more we can do, except to continue with some aid to the people. I believe most of the Taliban are addicted to drugs, We can’t beat that.

  2. A few months back there were rumors of Bolton running for President … his knowledge of foreign policy and the numerous videos of him speaking for Israel send a rush of confidence for him, from me. However, when in a conversation with other Conservatives, they thought he would be a better candidate for Secretary of State. However, look at this administration! Clinton is only the mouthpiece for Obama; it is the “leader” that appears to run the show – so, we need the strongest candidate for the Office of the presidency, first.

  3. The next President of Egypt, Amr Moussa, is going to be pro-Palestinian but will still honor the peace agreement with Israel. Israel’s existence is not being threatended but it’s hegemony over the occupied territories and its Palestinian population might be.

  4. The lesser of two evils:

Who are the real enemies of Jewish Israel? It is not Hamas, Hizbolla, Iran and the muslim brotherhood.

It is the atheistic, Jew-hating Israeli “Jews” within Israel, and the Jew-hating goyim: democrats, liberals, the EU, the UN, and Russia, outside of Israel.

The liberals and leftists are obsessed with destroying Jewish Israel. They don’t care if the Israeli Jews have to die to achieve this goal, and they don’t care what savage muslims replace the Jews; just so long as Jewish Israel is gone.

The leftists and the liberals use Orwellian doublespeak to mask their true intentions. Their “peace process” is an obscene joke; the equivalent of people urging a suicidal person to “Jump, jump, jump!” so they can have the schadenfreude of seeing him go splat on the pavement.

Look at this: when Hamas takes over gaza, Hizbolla lebanon, ahmedinajad iran, and the muslim brotherhood egypt, the western liberal leftist goyim are taken back for a moment, but then they always pick up where they left off: Jewish Israel has to recognize the illegitimate regimes of their enemies, and Jewish Israel has to make suicidal physical concessions to the muslim savages, while the muslims have to “stop incitement”.

How fanatically obsessed are the goyim with destroying Jewish Israel? James Jones, Barack Hussein Obama’s first National Security Advisor, just said that god himself (?jesus) wants obama to create a palestinian state at Jewish Israel’s expense.

  5. Alan West and John Bolton are both nuttier than fruitcakes. Obama’s steady as she goes style is exactly what the country finds uplifting. He’s a shoe-in next year.
