Barack Obama and America’s decline

By David P. Goldman, PJ MEDIA

America is in incipient decline, and this week’s presidential election might be the last chance to reverse it. We are becoming a different sort of country, with a different people and different beliefs. Another four years of Barack Obama well might take us past the point of no return, although no-one, to be sure, knows quite where that lies. There is still time to change course. There might not be time by 2016.

Nearly a third of Americans now depend on food stamps, welfare, disability payments, or some other form of government support, compared with one out of five when George W Bush left office. This enormous shift has occurred before the detonation of a demographic time bomb that will explode towards the end of the present decade, and which will push America towards even greater dependency. This time bomb has four facets:

  1. @ Donald freyman:
There are relatively easy answers–but they mean doing things right–and the American political establishment is all about doing things wrong and making things hard for the American people–the American people have done this to themselves!

  2. Americ’as decline began decades before Barack Obama was illegally elected–two times–this is why most of the American people did not see through him!

As for me–I knew who and what he was–and what his agenda would be in the summer of 2007!

  3. @ Laura:

The cost of the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were unfunded and paid for through increasing the national debt.

These two wars cost the American tax payer over two trillion dollars including off the books expenditures.

G W. Bush subsidized medicines programs cost another trillion dollars. His no child left behind program added another half trillion dollars. pell grants :The program was funded at an amount of $17,114,000,000 from 2008–2010 as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

How Your Social Security Money Was Stolen – Where Did the $2.5 Trillion Surplus Go?

“The government’s $2.5 trillion debt to Social Security is the real reason that so many politicians want to cut benefits. They are trying to find a way to avoid having to repay the looted money…. Given the fact that much of the surplus revenue from the 1983 payroll tax hike ended up in the pockets of the super rich in the form of income tax cuts, I propose a special tax on this group of taxpayers to recoup the missing Social Security money. The government used revenue from the Social Security payroll tax hike to fund tax cuts for the rich because that was where the money was. I think the government should recover the ‘embezzled’ money by taxing the rich.”

  4. @ Laura:

America was doing fine under Reagan.

    Nope!!

    Who increased the debt?

Reagan took office Jan 1981 Total debt was on that day: $848 billion dollars

Reagan left office Jan 1989, total debt was on that day $2689 billion dollars

    increase of + 218%

George H Bush took office on Jan 1989 and on that day the total debt was $2689 billion dollars

George h Bush left office 20 Jan 993 and on that day the total debt was $ 4188 billion dollars

    increase + 55 %

Bill Clinton took office on Jan 20 1993 and the total debt on that day was $4188 billion dollars’
Bill Clinton left office on Jan 20 2001 and the total debt was on that day $ 5728 billion dollars
    + 37 %

George W. Bush took office on Jan 2o 2001 and the total debt was $ 5728 billion dollars
George W. Bush left office on Jan 20 2009 and the total debt was $ 10625 billion dollars
    + 55%

Obama took office on Jan 20 2009 and the debt was $10625 billion dollars
As of today the debt is over 16100 billion dollars for about a 60% increase so far.

Reagan cut taxes most for the rich but did not increase revenues. most of Americas dire fiscal problems where created mostly by RR and the Two Bush presidents. Obama seems to be place around the middle of the pack but they were all responsible for the national debt.

  5. America was doing fine under Reagan. It isn’t military waste but entitlement programs which are bankrupting us. The military is the one area in which the federal government does have responsibility for. If the federal government simply limited itself to national security, we would not have this debt. That’s not to say that there isn’t waste in the military, which of course there is. But the problem is far beyond that.

  6. America’s decline began well before Obama. Think, Reagan, two Bushes, Clinton. Too much emphases on military waste, too many overseas obligations, and multiple examples of government overspending, and financial self abuse on a gigantic scale. Multiple factors and no easy answers.

  7. It’s time for Israel to cut America loose and if that doesn’t work because of our microbe leaders then I hope whoever is elected president will dumb Israel. Israel as an American vassal state cannot long survive.

Israel did very well with no superpower protection both economically and militarily before America began it’s substantial aid packages in 1973.

Does Israel benefit from US foreign aid?

See what many Israelis think about this question:

As the national liberation movement of the Jewish people, Zionism has historically held as its basic aspiration the achievement of political independence for the Jewish people in the Jewish homeland. Because a nation cannot be both dependent and independent at the same time, accepting money from the United States has essentially placed Israel in a situation of dependency that has critically eroded the Jewish state’s sovereignty.

As advocates of organic democracy and the notion that a government’s policies should reflect the will of the people it serves, the Free Zion movement works to achieve an Israeli leadership that behaves according to the national interest of the Jewish people and not according to the regional agendas of foreign actors.
