  1. ..1974 she worked in a Kibbutz in Israel

    – Tony Judt (in his book ‘Memory Chalet’ a type of autobiography ) said his expedience was very disillusioning and he felt alienated. In fact it turned him around away from Zionism – you could say a kind of leftist – I don’t like the way he turned out.
Perhaps the problem was he was too idealistic in the first place he picked up Zionism as an intellectual activity and missed something in the basic equation of human interaction. . I generally think I know how the problem came about – it’s kind of a missing of a certain kind of practical experience in the formative years – and yet Tony had a lot of involving experience with people and experienced anti-semitism.

It’s a good case study for the relationship between personality development and political development (such as where in MHO how wrong twists occur) but it would take me some effort to do the analysis and write it out.

Now here is Michelle she probably went to the same situation in the same times and she saw things completely differently and turned out different. She never lost sight of the basic equation of survival and defence against an enemy that wages unremitting total war.

Two people -similar experience in Israel – different results.
