Lawyers of arson suspects recount serious breaches, including court letting police lie to defense attorneys, for ‘confessions by force.’

Keidar began by noting a partial gag order was lifted on Thursday, allowing it to be known publicly that several suspects are being held but not releasing any information as to identity – except that they are Jews. They were arrested at different times and are nearly all being prevented from meeting with their lawyers.
“We held this press conference because…during the last week during the arrest of all the suspects the conduct of the security sources, police, Shabak (Israel Security Agency – ed.), the attorney’s office, and I daresay even the court, was one of the worst examples of conduct in terms of the breach of human rights, the rights of suspects, and constitutional rights that in the past the courts treated as things that could not be touched,” charged Keidar.
“The police, the attorney’s office and the Shabak this week crossed every red line, conducted procedures that were never conducted in the state of Israel,” he added.
Testimony has come forward of Shabak agents brutally beating the suspectsduring their arrest and hiding video evidence of the assault, and arresting a nurse who is the sister of one suspect while she was working at a hospital. The father of one suspect testified that his son was in Tzfat (Safed) at the time of the attack together with another suspect.
Calling the conduct of the authorities “intolerable,” Keidar said it doesn’t matter what the result of the investigation will be, because the serious nature of how the investigation is being conducted is such that “the moment the public is exposed to it, they will forget the murder and raise the question marks we’ve been raising this entire week.”
“In the coming days you will be exposed to decisions that no legal eye could approve,” vowed the attorney.
“The arrest warrants that we received are deceitful arrest warrants, they presented particular figures to the defense attorney, and the true figures – afterwards they admitted this – were figures that led the defense attorney astray,” stated Keidar in a particularly damning revelation.
“Not only are they not letting us represent (our clients) properly, they are also trying to cause us to fail. I’m saying things that are written in the protocol. There are investigative sources who deceived, and lied, and distorted, and the court – maybe its hand shook, but it accepted this message even though the people managing the investigation who know exactly and directly what happened weren’t even standing before it.”
“That’s what I’m saying and that’s what I said in the protocol. Some day you’ll see these protocols,” concluded Keidar.
“Confessions by force”
Haber then spoke, saying, “we’ve been conducting for roughly eight days a sort of war, a war of attrition…we are just asking for one thing: to give the attorneys the possibility to represent, even in the most minimal manner, the suspect’s case.”
“We must remember these are suspects, they are not accused, no indictments are visible on the horizon, even on the far horizon,” he said, indicating the vague nature of suspicions against the youths.
Haber condemned the “heavy-handed, violent” investigation, in which lawyers and the families of suspects are not being given the possibility to speak or see them.
“All of this is meant only to try and get confessions out of people by force,” he said.
“We receive indications of lengthy hours of interrogation, sometimes beyond what the law allows, detainment in substandard conditions, not giving required medical treatment, and not giving food in a fixed and appropriate manner.”
The attorney noted that “in all the years we’ve been representing suspects we’ve never come across conduct like this.”
“My client needs medical treatment”
Attorney Ben-Gvir then took the microphone, saying, “during the arrest of my client, according to the testimony of his wife, he was beaten, bruised and wounded, he needs medical treatment.”
“It’s no coincidence that today the general security services didn’t bring him to the court,” he charged, indicating the authorities sought to hide his medical condition.
“We argue that they are hiding my client in the investigation rooms of the general security services. We argue that they are submitting them to severe pressure.”
“I understand the motivation of the general security services in the investigation, I understand that this is an investigation in which politicians got involved and said ‘we want guilty people at any price.’ But it cannot be that they make people disappear in the state of Israel. We are not in Argentina!,” he emphasized.
“And my greatest disappointment perhaps, more than the rest, is that some of the judges are following the lead of the system. I express my surprise at the decision of Judge (Yoram) Danziger about the conduct of some of the judges in the case, and I say as clearly as possible that the feeling is that they want a confession here at any price, the feeling is that the Shabak will do anything and everything in order to obtain some sort of achievement.”
Ben-Gvir said sternly, “this is serious. This is not fitting. A democratic state does not work like this.”
“And I ask myself where are all those who speak highly about democracy, about human rights, where are the leftists who defend every abominable terrorist who is arrested? Where have they suddenly disappeared to? It can’t be that in the state of Israel they make people disappear in the basement of the general security services headquarters and no one opens their mouth.”
Criticism over the handling of case gained steam after Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon (Likud) publicly announced in September that the identities of the arsonists were known to Israel. However, just a month later in October, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu admitted the arsonists or proof in the case hadn’t been found yet.
@ bernard ross:The government should have issued a gag order on themselves. Not only should the government not have said they detained 3 Jewish suspects, they shouldn’t have said they have retained 3 suspects. By saying the suspects were Jewish they have indicted Jews.
It seems to me that this was political. They wanted to cool Arab anger by saying we have detained Jewish suspects in regard to the crime. There is no other reason to say they were Jewish. If no one is indicted, the public will remain with the idea that the perpetrators were Jewish.

The fact engraved in almost the entire worlds population is that extremist right wing Jewish settlers perpetrated the arson…. this fact etched in everyones minds in the world and Israel was entirely fabricated by BB, Yaalon, Erdan and Rivlin…. and the dangerous murderous libel spread and given credibility by the Israeli left.
In my view such a crime should warrant indefinite detention until they can be tried and prosecuted for, at the very least, involuntary manslaughter resulting from their willful negligence. But then who would have the cojones to indict and prosecute the wolves in the chicken coop.
the film “Breaker Morant” is a good example of what govs are willing to do, in sacrificing their own, in order to make their goals work. The outcome which BB seeks with the arabs is his “greater goal” and that outcome requires moving Israels psyche to reject zionists, settlers, and nationalist Jews as extremists and the arabs as reasonable partners. Hence the stabbings are portrayed as individual criminal unorganized criminal events as opposed to organized terror….hence, the arabs who seek as a collective to liquidate the Jews are treated as innocent bystanders with their lifestyles undisturbed. Yes, it should really bother you when you begin to think about it carefully:
Why would a Jewish leadership immediately rush to establish a establish a suspicion as a fact in everyone’s minds?. Why seek to establish such an obviously dangerous outcome as a fact, when it could only at that point have been at best a suspicion? A jewish leadership should have wanted to delay that conclusion until it was absolutely sure that it is factual. They knew it would result in burnings and stabbings, so why not urge the public to wait until a proper investigation was completed, until after the facts are in, before rushing to conclusions which may be both false and dangerous. Even responsible non jewish leadership would normally advise caution in jumping to conclusions. In fact, in the world today, the standard expected and logical behavior of leaders is to always advise caution and patience until proper investigations are completed.
So the question remains why would there be this sudden simultaneous jumping on a bandwagon to accuse Jews with no evidence???? Why would Yaalon, Rivlin, Erdan and scandalously, BB(to a lesser degree as he prefers his appointees to take the flak and float the trial balloons) all together seek to allege and accuse without evidence? Facts present the best explanations for motive: the fact was that the arson was immediately seized as an opportunity to introduce, and pass without opposition, legislation to incarcerate Jews without evidence…. those Jews being the main right wing opposition to BB’s years long policies of allowing muslim abuse of Jews and of obstructing Jewish settlement in YS. If the bandwagonist inciters against Jews was not a pre planned intentional false flag then it was a massive display of incompetence in leadership and of willful negligence in the criminal investigation. The willful negligence allowed the Duma arabs the time to wipe the security cams clean. Those cams would have shown the arson to be an arab vendetta if not a false flag gov op.
The result of their behavior is a further blow to the political right and more importantly a successful demonization of real zionist Jews. All of this furthers BB’s image as a stable centrist while killing off his right wing oppositions marketability to the general public by painting zionist Jews as extremeists.
If it was merely incompetence and negligence does anyone beleive that the same pols who caused the revenge burnings and stabbings with their incompetence would now allow evidence to emerge showing them to be wrong…. and the murders of Israelis to be due to their incompetence. It makes perfect sense. Rhetorical theatrics aside, Netanyahu always seems to promote the liberal agenda. He is like David Copperfield, creating illusions through misdirection. But put aside Netanyahu’s speeches and fixate exclusively upon results. He (mal)functions well within the mainstream of the Western progressive movement. If Mitt Romney were prime minister of Israel, no one would even notice the difference. Netanyahu is the Israeli version of a RINO.
So the answer is…the suspects are identified as being Jewish because that is the politically correct thing to do. We wouldn’t want anyone to embrace the absurd notion that Muzzies could be terrorists.
It really bothers me that the government says Jewish terrorists were the perpetrates when they don’t have enough evidence to indict let alone convict. Isn’t it enough to say we have detained 3 suspects. Why mention that they are Jewish. That really smells to me. Its not right.
When no one is looking perhaps they send operatives to burn down arab homes in the middle of arab villages so that they can immediately pass a law to incarcerate dissenting Jews as terrorists without evidence……… or perhaps they are merely incompetent and negligent and then arrest and torture Jews in order to cover up their incompetence and negligence…….. after all…. could Yaalon, BB, Rivlin and erdan survive politically with their reps and “legacies” intact if it were discovered that their inciting against settlers was wrong and that their incitement was the reason that Jews are being burned and stabbed now….. is it possible that they would allow such evidence to come to the fore…. or would folks who beat suspects be more likely to lie and frame someone in order to protect themselves?

We all know the methods of the Juntas murderous beasts in uniform. The israeli unJewish combina has created not less than that as tools to destroying Jewish lives and Heritage. The “disengagement” Pogrom, Amona and much much more did not occur in a vacuum. There was and is a Plan to all of that. The judges who pop out of the woodwork as Orcs did from mud are part and parcel in the murderous chain.
I am quite experienced on the subjects… in the first person. I do not doubt in the least that “suicides”, “desaparecidos”, fabricated “files”, indirect assaults against families and other targeted Jews will be and are becoming just a routine here as well.
