Assessing Kerry’s proposal

Yoram Ettinger in ISRAEL HAYOM, takes the inflated Kerry down a few pegs by pointing out how wrong he has been in the past particularly in his embrace of Assad and recommendation that we give back the Golan. He then reminds Kerry of the reality which Kerry wishes to ignore.

Kerry is preoccupied with pressuring Israel, notwithstanding the transformation of the Arab Spring delusion into a reality of an Arab Tsunami, highlighting the 1,400-year-old intra-Muslim and intra-Arab uncertainty, unpredictability, unreliability, instability, fragmentation, violent intolerance and absence of Arab democracy and civil liberties. This reality requires a higher Israeli threshold of security. U.S. pressure comes despite the clear and present danger of a nuclearized apocalyptic Iran, and Islamic terrorism, to Jordan and the pro-U.S. oil-producing Gulf states, as well as the U.S. mainland; despite the transformation of Iraq into an Iranian-dominated global center of Islamic terrorism; regardless of Turkey’s support of the transnational, terrorist Moslem Brotherhood; and in defiance of the inherently provisional and fragile nature of Arab regimes, policies and agreements, which are frequently signed on ice and not carved in stone.

He ends by writing:

However, to survive in the conflict-ridden Middle East, Israel must embrace realism — as costly as it may be — and reject imagination, wishful thinking and make- believe, as tempting as they may be.

  1. The deeply seated (visceral) Western (religious and secular share the same problem: religious antisemite (who have abandoned religion)becomes secular antisemite) antisemitism is the fundamental reason for it refusal to support its ally, IL, in its conflict against Muslims.

  2. Kerry lives in Ladi Ladi Land. He is correct there is a chance for peace. If he exchanges the Palestinians for the Swiss. His wife is Swiss and has lots of money. So she will exchange 2 million Palestinians for 2 million Swiss.

We could get along with the Swiss. Hell their chocolate is better than Elites and they make fine watches. No suicide bombers among the bunch.

Someone should propose this to him. Let him go skiing in the Alps for a while and try and talk the Swiss into this. This is a peace formula. Maybe Curious American will help set up a website to encourage the Pals to move to Switzerland. We will each contribute $1 or 3.50 shekels (what is the exchange rate now anyway?

  3. Peace is not in the cards.

The blunt truth of the matter is the Arabs want to destroy Israel – not to live in peace alongside it.

All of Secretary Kerry’s formulas can’t change this basic fact of life about the Middle East.
