Free speech is under unprecedented attack by an unholy alliance of Big Tech, corporate oligarchs, the establishment media and government Democrats.
Tech giants are purging conservative voices — and even liberal voices who challenge establishment credos, as the New York Post pointed out — from their platforms. Large corporations like Bed Bath & Beyond, Simon & Schuster, Disney, Amazon and Bank of America are turning on clients and customers who espouse conservative views.
The establishment media is floating the apparent need for a government “reality czar” to suppress “disinformation,” and New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes is suggesting over Instagram that a House “truth and reconciliation” committee be created to “rein in our media environment.”
Rather than tackle this frontal assault on first freedoms, the American Civil Liberties Union — which bills itself as “the nation’s premier defender of the rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution” — has largely been silent.
In fairness, the ACLU acknowledged that such trampling of free speech was concerning, but it did little else — which was about as helpful as a lifeguard who blows his whistle at a drowning swimmer, but stays in his chair.
The ACLU undoubtedly pumped the brakes on this issue because those in the crosshairs are primarily conservatives. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?
Instead, the ACLU has chosen to take on a far more sinister and dire threat to our constitutional liberties: state laws prohibiting so-called transgender “girls” (i.e. males who identify as females) from playing on female-only school sports teams.
But some teachers unions are tying any return to the classroom to getting all teachers vaccinated. That’s the case in Sacramento, California, according to The Sacramento Bee.
Given the time needed for vaccinations and the time lag inherent in the two-dose vaccinations, the union’s demand would push the reopening of school buildings back months.
Sacramento is not alone.
“When Governor Gavin Newsom says schools are safe to reopen without vaccines, he should also tell us what he believes a safe number of deaths associated with that would be,” United Teachers Los Angeles President Cecily Myart-Cruz said last week, according to Bloomberg.

Very aptly stated.
It has been many decades since the ACLU was “the nation’s premier defender of the rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution”. It is and has been the premier defender of selected groups’ rights and opposition to the rights of deselected groups.
The momentum behind global corporations to establish “Ministries of Truth” seems unstoppable at present. What’s more, no one seems to be trying. The Republican Party is now a subsidiary of the Democrats.
So, to be a devil’s advocate here, the move to have men declaring themselves women could be a major civil rights initiative for the ACLU. If this is established then white men could also declare themselves Black and participate in the great woke awakening with all the rights and privileges now associated with it. This would make society much less contentious.
For example, if someone accused Tom Brady of racism then he could change his personal pronouns to those of a black woman and be in the clear. Similarly, companies accused of racial or gender discrimination could give male employees a 20 percent salary increase if they declared themselves black, female or whatever group was underrepresented. This would solve a number of divisive problems with the stroke of a pen, and a worthwhile exercise for the ACLU.
Hmmmm… Don’t women of all ages also have Civil Libeties?
