Archaeological find could further upset the peace process

Apparently the Government doesn’t want this find to be publicized.  In effect it is burying our historical claims just as it has buried out legal rights as per the Levy Report and just as it is burying our claims to the Temple Mount.  Ted Belman

‘David’s Castle’ to be Unveiled on ‘Palestinian’ Land

Friday, January 10, 2014 |  Israel Today Staff
We reported last year on the discovery of an ancient biblical-era palace probably dating back to the time of King David himself that was subsequently covered up for political reasons.

Now, the group that stumbled upon the unprecedented find tells Israel National News that they will publicly reveal the location of the buried palace next Friday, January 17, an event that is likely to cause a diplomatic earthquake.

Israel’s Makor Rishon Hebrew daily reported last April that a major biblical archeology find in the Judean hills south of Jerusalem was apparently being covered up by the government.

At the time, a member of the Kfar Etzion Field School in the Eztion Bloc of Jewish communities had stumbled across an ancient ornate pillar as he descended into a cave in the Judean hills. The pillar and its attached capital clearly belonged to a royal structure, and local archaeologists said it certainly dated back to the times of the Judean kings, if not David himself.

The undisturbed nature of the find suggested that a large part of the ancient palace was probably buried intact beneath where the pillar was found.

“We appear to have a complete castle here,” Kfar Etzion Field School Director Yaron Rosental told the newspaper. “Those who lived here after it did not know of its existence and thus, instead of using its stones to build a new building as was the usual practice, left it intact.”

But, when Rosental contacted Israel’s Antiquities Authority, he was harshly rebuffed and told to “keep [his] mouth shut” about the find.

The Antiquities Authority later confirmed to Makor Rishon that the find exists, and had actually been first discovered the year prior, but that political sensitivities had prevented archaeologists from exploring the site.

It was pointed out that the find is located in territory claimed by the Palestinian Authority. Uncovering a major and even unprecedented archaeological site that solidifies the ancient Jewish presence in and control of these lands could upset the peace process.

History especially Jewish history is not linear. When things look bad here I always think about how things looked in 1948 and in the beginning of the 6 Day War and the Yom kippur war.
I look at Israel today and can say things were never better. We have at present no danger of land invasion by any of our direct neighbors, Israel has never been stronger militarily, our economy compared to just about anyone else is not in bad shape comparatively and we are better positioned than any other to whether the coming economic storms. Our people are generally doing well, our health system while far from perfect is better than any other country in my opinion. Yes we still have our leftists who become weaker each year, we have a suffocating bureaucracy, Israeli Arabs, Haredim and too many poor citizens. We have Iran to deal with and Obama and Europe. But I remember when Syria with it’s 80,000 missiles and poison gas was a worry and even a deterrent against us. Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt was a major concern, today less so. In eastern Colorado where the Arapahoe Indian once lived and were long ago forcably removed under treat of anialation. A county, high school, and park were named in their honor. In the park the county raise a memorial stone was inscribed and placed to remeber the Arapahoe tribe. One dark night “vandels” snuck into the park and desecrated the stone by writing this upon it, ” KILL THE PEOPLE, STEAL THEIR LAND,BUILD THEM A MEMORIAL”.

  3. It is difficult to fathom why we as a people cannot call things by their name.
What has happened to a multitude of Jewish Heritage Icons since the MAPAI-MAPAM aggregate assumed control of the State, is readily visible. They have intentionally sabotaged the Jewish Historical facts, even destroyed or aided in the destruction, or hid evidence and records. When Dayan abandoned nothing else but Temple Mount to the Wakft, he did not act on his own, he followed orders from the 67 government.
Nothing has changed since but for the worse while we remain sleeping at the wheel.

Did you see the Bussians dancing. When .”Fidddler on the Roof , first appeared, my Father bought the record. My Mother snd I were dumb struck and our dog hid. He had perfect balance, amazing.!!!!!!

Thank you for the links yamit. Uplifting to tears.
It is not pessimism, nor defeatism. Just the voice of frustration that sees damage occurring, or about to occur, and that could be avoided…

  6. @ the phoenix:

I’ve lived in Israel too long, have experienced personally too much to allow pessimism like yours to overtake everything else I know and feel. Cynicism-Yes, Skepticism-Yes, Vigilance-A Must, Concern-Of course but never pessimism and defeatism.

    Dear yamit,
Read your posts on this thread (as I do on most all other threads). Not to beat a dead horse BUT here is my question again, from another thread, and your answer:

    the phoenix Said:

What happened to the PROUD ISRAELI ???

    Never base conceptions on photos.

    Try this instead:

    Israel: The happy little country

This train wreck that we are all watching, is not even in slow motion.
The heart and soul of the Jewish nation is being willing.y, knowingly and maliciously eviscerated and stomped on…
And no mass protests? No public outrage? How much longer can the ship of Israel keep afloat when it’s ‘captain’ (spit!) and crew are taking turns who can outdo each other in drilling BIGGER holes in its hull?
    Help me yamit!
    What am I missing??????

  9. Original Jewish Voice Expose’- including State Controllers Report

The following report issued by the Israeli government is of a previously classified nature. It reveals the terrifying truth about the Israeli conspiracy to relinquish control of Jerusalem’s Temple Mount to hands of the Muslim Waqf. Each past of this report provides a detailed account of the methods taken by the Waqf to vanquish the inextricable ties that the Jewish people have to Jerusalem. As a place that is of significant holiness to Jews around the globe; the Waqf has strictly forbidden Jews to pray there and they enforce their draconian decrees against Jews with a palpable zeal. The photo that accompany this article graphically depict the massive and well orchestrated Muslim campaign to maintain sole autonomy of the Temple Mount; with the clandestine cooperation of the Israeli government.

Secret Government Report Reveals the Truth Behind Temple Mount Conspiracy: A Jewish Voice Exclusive

Public pressure should be brought to bear on the Israeli government to release the report!!! It’s already out in the open now. Israelis have a right to see it.

Make BB own up to his criminal act against the Jewish people and history.

  10. Temple Mount report ignites concern over Israel’s preservation of holy site
    Posted on January 6, 2014 by JNS.org

A recently revealed Israeli State Comptroller’s report that remains under a government gag order has ignited concern over the Muslim Waqf’s attempts to erase Jewish ties on the Temple Mount—Judaism’s holiest site—and Israeli authorities’ neglect of those activities.

The classified document, whose contents were published by the New York-based newspaper The Jewish Voice, details ongoing illegal excavations being carried out on the Temple Mount by the Muslim Waqf (trust) and places blame on those responsible for overseeing the site—namely the Israel Antiquities Authority, the Jerusalem Municipality, and the Israeli police. The report suggests that those Israeli bodies have been turning a blind eye to the damage caused by the Waqf pertaining to ancient Jewish archeological findings.

In response to the leak, attorney Aviad Visoly—chairman of the Joint Staff Movement of the Jewish Temple Mount Organizations, an umbrella for 27 bodies that advocate for Jewish rights on the Temple Mount—says that he has sent a letter to the state comptroller requesting an immediate removal of the gag order so that Members of Knesset can discuss its findings.

Visoly tells JNS.org that the goal of the Muslims on the Temple Mount “is to eliminate all remnants of Jewish history.” Nevertheless, he is optimistic that as a result of the report, along with a “tremendous rise” in the willingness of Jews to visit the Temple Mount, “we are on the verge of a revolution of a state of affairs in which for the first time in 2,000 years, Jews will be able to pray freely on the Temple Mount.” Visoly says that currently around 100,000 non-Muslims visit the site per year, with approximately a third of them being Jewish. Israel’s Chief Rabbinate opposes visits by Jews to the Temple Mount due to the concern that they may inadvertently step into an area that, according to halacha, is forbidden to enter unless one is ritually pure.

  11. Is Israel losing Temple Mount war?

Ynetnews special: Why is Israeli government covering up Muslim effort to erase any trace of Jewish history on Temple Mount? Archeology expert: Excavations barbaric, a crime
The Answer is that piece of traitorous crap known to all as BB. BB wants to cede the Temple Mount to the Arabs and is doing everything he can to advance that end. He has already given up in fact 93% of Y&S and all negotians subsequently are only on the remaining 7% including Jerusalem.

Mideastern affairs expert Dr. Mordechai Kedar says these acts are undertaken in the framework of an Arab practice known as “erasing the signs,” aimed at eliminating the remnants of any civilization that preceded Islam.

Members of the State Comptroller’s Office launched an investigation into the affair four years ago and drafted a report about it. However, the Knesset’s State Control Committee decided to impose a gag order on the report for “security reasons.”

Conversations and interviews held with dozens of officials involved in drafting the State Comptroller’s secret report indicate that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is among the senior officials interested in shelving the document. Attorney Yisrael Caspi, who represents a group fighting the destruction on Temple Mount, says the PM is unequivocally responsible for the ongoing failure.

“One cannot underestimate the prime minister’s responsibility for the state of affairs on Temple Mount; one can only refer to it as absolute responsibility,” he said. “We know with certainty that nothing happens on Temple Mount without the advance knowledge and permission of the Prime Minister’s Office and its head. All the criticism, all the negligence, all the failures, the entire cover-up and the helplessness in dealing with the matter – and therefore all the historical responsibility – are his.”

Caspi says Netanyahu does not want to be reminded of the “historical scandal” of handing over the holy site known in Judaism as Solomon’s Stables to the Waqf during the PM’s first term in office, in the 1990s. “This turned Solomon’s Stables, an amazing archeological site…into a place that Jews are not allowed to enter and into the largest mosque in the State of Israel,” he says.

Dr. Eilat Mazar, a senior fellow at the Shalem Center’s Jewish archeology Institute, witnessed the digging at the Temple Mount plaza in 1999. “For me as an archeologist it was a shock; it was like performing heart surgery with a hoe. The Waqf’s objective is to not only turn Temple Mount into a holy compound, but to turn it into a ‘built up Aqsa’ for Muslims only,” she says. “One need not be an archeologist to understand there’s destruction here.”

The Prime Minister’s Office issued the following response to the story: “As opposed to the claims, the body that imposed a gag order on the (State Comptroller’s) report was not the government, but rather, the sub-committee of the Knesset’s Defense and Foreign Affair’s Committee…any argument alleging that the report is not being published as result of irrelevant reasons is baseless and disconnected from reality.”
