Another reason to be very worried about the re-election of Obama

The Obama administration recently sent the head of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, Salam al-Marayati, to represent the US at a human rights conference in Poland.  When this choice was criticized, a State Department spokesman replied that:
Al-Marayati “has been involved in U.S. government initiatives for almost 10 years and has been a valued and highly credible interlocutor on issues affecting Muslim communities.”  He said al-Marayati was asked to participate in the conference “as a reflection of the wide diversity of backgrounds of the American people.”   
The Investigative Project on Terrorism, headed by Steve Emerson, observes that:

“If the al-Marayati choice is any indication, that ‘diversity’ apparently extends to anti-Israel ideologues who attack U.S. terrorism prosecutions, whitewash Hamas war crimes, and portray Iran as a victim of U.S. perfidy. And he runs an organization which opposes key elements of American counter-terror policies, including the drone strike which killed American-born al-Qaida cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, the closing of terror-supporting charities and sting operations against would-be homegrown terrorists.

“A year ago, al-Marayati even threatened to sever ties with the U.S. government in a strongly-worded Los Angeles Timesop-ed column. Expressing anger over the use of ‘anti-Muslim’ training materials by the FBI and a U.S. Attorney’s office, al-Marayati wrote: ‘If this matter is not immediately addressed, it will undermine the relationship between law enforcement and the Muslim American community—another example of the ineptitude and/or apathy undermining bridges built with care over decades.’

“In spite of MPAC’s hostile view of government policies, administration officials routinely turn to MPAC for policy advice, including the training materials al-Marayati ranted about in the Times. In February, MPAC officials met with FBI Director Robert Mueller to discuss training materials about Islam. That same month, MPAC officials met with top Pentagon leaders to receive an apology over a recent incident involving Quran burnings in Afghanistan.”

They include his saying that the Holocaust is no excuse for Israel’s “dehumanization” of Arab peoples; his declaration that Israel is controlling US foreign policy; and his criticism of the prosecution of individuals who had planned to bomb synagogues and fire missiles at US military planes.

    You don’t believe what you wrote because you know it for fact.

    You believe it only because Bush made a concerted & consistent decision (rightly or wrongly) to not defend himself & his administration in the court of public opinion

    — so the Bush-haters had no opposition.

  2. Pr. O cannot be pro WOMEN and at the very same time pro Muslims!!!! These are mutually exclusive choices. This requires very little thinking! Many women will fall in the trap because most pay no attention to what is going on in Washington DC and in foreign policy! But it should be obvious.

    Concerning Obama, the real problem is that he allows Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. No matter how bad you think the Republicans are, for Israel’s survival they are a million times preferable to Obama.

When a U.S. president, George Bush, appoints seasoned Republicans to his administration, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, who create the biggest military fiasco in U.S. history, what guarantee do we have that anyone will perform as expected and in the best interest of our country? These Republican politicians should be glad they will be dead when History pronounces its verdict on them.

    No doubt Obama makes mistakes in placing his trust in some, as does everyone at one time or another, but he knows the importance of Israel to the U.S. and the West. Israel represents freedom and democracy to the downtrodden of the Middle East, which must be fought for every single day. He knows that Muslims are also victims of the hellish extremist Muslims who prey on all of us. I wish we could feed them all to the alligators.

    I was in blame-Obama mode when I made my comment and missed the ramifications that you very insightfully spotted with regards to what message Obama could have sent.
    Real pity that he didn’t, both for the truly moderate Muslims and the rest of us who are worried about the non-moderate ones.

    For what it’s worth from a non-native English speaker, if I had to choose one word to describe Obama, it would be one of those you used, “indecent”.

    Obama could have chosen a Muslem who doesn’t hate Jews, but he wanted to make the Jew-hating Muslims happy. There is a sect of Muslims known as the Ismaili Muslims. They originated in Pakistan. They don’t hate Jews. As a docent at the Holocaust Museum in Houston, TX, I’ve had the pleasure of taking two groups of them on tour. They were a wonderful group – friendly,. polite, and very interested in the Holocaust. Think of what a statement Obama could have made if he chose one of them instead of that Jew-hating piece of crap he chose. He could have shown the world that he considers Muslims good Americans. He could have shown the American People that there are such Muslim who are decent folks. He could have shown the Muslim world that one doesn’t have to hate Jews, Christians, and all religions to be a pious Muslim. He had the chance to stand up for decency. Instead he stood up for hate.
