Ted, I don’t think Russia is enabling Israel to defend itself in Syria. Israel is enabling Israel to defend itself in Syria. Also, the U.S. and Britain are helping Israel to defend itself in Syria by selling Israel some useful weapons, even thought neither government is especially happy to see Israel defending itself.
Russia is not eneabling Israel to defend itself in Syria or anywhere else. On the contrary, they are making this more difficult by selling the Syrianstate-of-the art antiaircraft ground-to-air missiles.
Bear is correct that Israel and Russia do business together, both financially and it terms of avoiding direct military confrontation. Also, perhaps, by Russia allowing the Lubovitcher movement to reestablish synogogues and Jewish worship in Russia. But this does not make them allies, only “frenemies,” or more or less friendly adversaries.
Israel and Russia will not be true friends until and unless Russia stops providing Iran with military and technological assistance, especially assistance for Tehran’s nuclear development program, with which Russia has been providing Iran for many years. Also, until they stop supporting the Assad regime, which acts as a conduit for Iranian arms sent to Hizbollah and Hamas. So far, Russia has shown no inclination to stop backing Iran, Syria, and at least indirectly Hizbollah and Hamas.
@Ted, which conflicts are Israel and Russia on the same side?
Israel and Russia are not enemies and Russia who would like Iran out of Syria lets Israel batter the Iranian (and allies there). However, they do nothing else to get them out and sell them weapons.
Russia view Israel as a USA ally. They also use Israel to help them with the USA in back room diplomacy (behind the scenes). Israel and Russia do business together but we are not allies.
@Adam
Your expectations are too high.
Russia is enabling Israel to defend itself in Syria and putting no political pressure on Israel. If only Biden would be so kind to Israel.
As this video points out, Russia and Israel are on the same side in many conflicts.
Nonsense. Israel and Russia are adversaries, not allies. Perhaps “Frenemies” but certainly not allies. They are on opposite sides of the Syrian war and the Iranian issue. Russia and its pro-government press have been very critical of Israel, and direct armed clashes over Syria between their armed forces have only narrowly been averted.
TFI global are ignorant gasbags. They don’t do any original reporting. All they want to do is reassure English-speaking people of Indian ancestry that India has allies that will help them defeat the Chinese, and in this way keep up their morale. They make up things as they go along to create this misconception. In the end they will not help their own country, more much the less Israel, with their absurd fictions.
