In terms of Iran’s nuclear threat, “we’re at a point of Extreme Danger. It’s the first time in years we see all the stars come together into a constellation where Iran may decide to build nuclear weapons.
Iran does not need to do a nuclear test to build a nuclear weapon… They designed a program where they could test the components, the subcomponents, and then test the whole assemble device minus the weapon grade uranium and have a way to know that if that test was successful, which we call a cold test, then the nuclear explosion would actually take place if it was detonated.
Iran can quickly make enough weapons grade uranium for six weapons in a month using their existing centrifuge facilities. It’d take them about six months in total to make a crude nuclear explosive. You can’t put the crude on a ballistic missile and hope that it will survive launch and the trajectory of the missile with all its vibrations and heat. But it’d work underground as a test and would just signify through a week that Iran was a nuclear weapons power.
