Ben Shapiro Calls Candace Owens ‘Absolutely Disgraceful’ For Israel Rhetoric

A video began circulating on social media on Tuesday after Shapiro said that Owens’s behavior during the Israel-Hamas-Gaza conflict “has been disgraceful, without a doubt.”

Many Republicans and pro-Israel activists have condemned Owens for her recent statements, including a not-so-subtle social media post implying that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza.

On her show on the Daily Wire, she added, “If I’m walking through Jerusalem and they say ‘these are the Muslim quarters, this is where the Muslims are allowed to live’, that doesn’t feel like […] freedom to me.”

Although Owens did not publicly respond to Shapiro’s statements, some have noted that shortly after the video of Shapiro speaking went viral, Owens posted on X (Twitter): “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” She concluded, “You cannot serve both God and money.”

Shapiro then took it upon himself to respond to that post, saying: “Candace, if you feel that taking money from The Daily Wire somehow comes between you and God, by all means quit.”

Owens then came for Shapiro again, calling him “unprofessional” and “emotionally unhinged.”

“You have been acting unprofessional and emotionally unhinged for weeks now. And we have all had to sit back and allow it and have all tried to exercise exceeding understanding for your raw emotion,” Owens said. ”But you cross a certain line when you come for scripture and read yourself into it. I will not tolerate it.”

  1. No she does not have a point. Why do you keep defending her? What is it with conservatives latching onto such people and their unwillingness to ditch them when they have crossed a line into antisemitism.

Well, actually Owens does have a point.
If there indeed is such a nation as “Palestinians”, then we are committing a “genocide”. We’d be committing genocide not by murdering particularly many Palestinians, but by exterminating the supposed “nation”. After the destruction of Gaza, I doubt that there ever will be any “Palestinian” nation after the war.

  2. Who the fuck does she think she is to lecture Ben about crossing a line and that she’s been sitting back and allowing it? Isn’t Shapiro her boss, so to speak? Daily Wire is Shapiro’s publication. She is an employee who is lucky he hasn’t fired her.

  3. Sebastien! Fancy seeing you here! How’s the brawl going?

Hi, Vivarto. Actually, Owens made no reference to either Israel or Hamas. She said,

Right-wing commentator Candace Owens responded Wednesday to The Daily Wire editor-in-chief Ben Shapiro’s sharp criticism of her comments regarding the Israel-Hamas war, telling Tucker Carlson in an interview that though she would not be making “ad-hominem attacks,” her fellow right-wing commentator should be “embarrassed” over his handling of the situation.

Shapiro’s criticism of Owens seems to stem from a Nov. 3 tweet of hers in which she wrote that “No government anywhere has a right to commit a genocide, ever.” She added: “There is no justification for a genocide. I can’t believe this even needs to be said or is even considered the least bit controversial to state.”

Owens stood by her statement in two tweets that afternoon after conservative commentator Dave Rubin questioned her on it—though she notably never mentioned Israel or Palestine.

Shapiro was later filmed on an unspecified date talking to a group of people about Owens’ comments.

“I think her behavior during this has been disgraceful. Without a doubt,” he said. “I think that her faux sophistication on these particular issues has been ridiculous.”

As for Ben thinking Candace has “faux” sophistication, is that a racial slur?

I agree with Candace, that he is emotionally unhinged.

  4. @Vivarto Sophistry and false equivalence. Genocide means intentional physical extermination of an entire people, something Israel has never advocated or attempted and have always vehemently opposed but which the Arabs/Muslims/Pals are still attempting to carry out.

  5. Mr. Zorn, I want to respond to your post about god and money, but I’m afraid it might be antisemitic. Let me check my bank account and I get back to ya.

  7. Sounds like Ben needs to fire Candace who has shown to be anti-Israel and certainly no friend of Jews in the least.

  8. What a sad, awful situation. Here’s a person who is bright and has her own point of view and sense of agency and showed so much promise.

I think it is possible that when she received strong negative feedback, instead of that feedback alerting her that perhaps she had made a mistake and could look more deeply into it, she couldn’t bear to admit that mistake and doubled down on her position ever since.

I understand what it is like to feel humiliated and aware that you have made a very hurtful mistake, and especially such a public one. But at that point, every one of us has a choice: we can bear the pain, acknowledge our mistake and ask forgiveness, or we build the walls higher.

I have never seen a good outcome for a person when they make the latter choice.

If you cannot admit you have hurt someone or a whole group of people, you will spend your life managing the guilt in destructive ways. Often that means projecting it onto others and seeing them as the problem.

This is the worst possible outcome for a human being’s personality development.

But whom of us do not know people like this in our personal lives?

There is nothing much that can be done for them. It is between them and their God.

  9. She also defended her wealthy, famous, black friend Kanye over his vile, antisemitic remarks.
Mark my words. She is currently trying to send the message to her audience that wealthy Jews control America but in a short while she will be very open about her antisemitism. I used to hold her in high esteem when she was hosted by Denis Prager. Now its time to distance ourselves from her and not give her an audience. Let her name be forgotten like so many other ‘friends’ we used to have.

  10. @Sebastien

Wow! The bit about God and money is classical antisemitism.

Yes, well, let us just add that one to the list. Do recall that she also came out in support of Ramaswamy (again I might add) when he described the Harvard students who wrote a letter blaming Israel for the Hamas orchestrated Simchat Torah slaughter as being just some

students…experiment[ing] with ideas & sometimes kids join clubs that endorse boneheadedly wrong ideas.

  11. Wow! The bit about God and money is classical antisemitism. That plus the blood libels about Israel. She is a full-blown, raving antisemite “some of whose best friends are Jewish” which is often the way it works, in real life, paradoxically, but it’s not a legitimate defence, nor is it funny, anymore.

  12. From Ed Marcus:

tucker interviews candice a few hours ago
just watched about 10 minutes of this …can’t take more

    VIDEO

suggest you give it a pass
    she and tucker double down
nothing to see here …we are consistent jew haters
    – jews don’t have it so bad …not like us blacks or whites or mixed
    – all children are sacred to their parents
    oh wait ….maybe not.

one of the saddest parts of all of this is what has been exposed to my
grandchildren’s generation ….I grieve for their awakening.
