Ceasefire? Not on our lives

Was there any pause when the US decimated Fallujah and Mosul? Is the UN demanding ceasefire in Papua? Myanmar? No ceasefire, no pause.Op-ed.

Unconditional surrender by Hamas is the only humanitarian path now available to save its population, but Hamas doesn’t care about its population.. Rejected by Hamas, the irreversible outcome will be the total destruction of Hamas and remaining infrastructure in Gaza.

Hamas boasts that Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City “hosts” 55,000 human shields. Committing war crimes by using civilians as human shields will not protect the Hamas terrorists. These “shields” are held captive by Hamas and not permitted to travel a few miles to safety to Raffiah in southern Gaza even though Israel protects a corridor it erected so that they can flee.

Rather than calling for a “Potsdam Declaration” offering Hamas the choice of unconditional surrender or “prompt and utter destruction”, the United Nations General Assembly, without mentioning Hamas, overwhelmingly demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Czech Defense Minister Jana ?ernochová expressed her dissatisfaction with the UN vote, stating that she was “ashamed of this organization and believed that the Czech Republic should not be associated with an organization that supports terrorists. Hamas killed more than 1,400 Israelis; a higher number per capita than those killed by the militant Islamist organization Al-Qaeda in the United States on September 11, 2001.”

Israel UN Ambassador Gilad Erdan said that the UN had lost its legitimacy. He told the assembly, “A cease-fire means giving Hamas time to rearm itself, so they can massacre us again. This is a dark day for the UN and for mankind. By passing the resolution, the majority of the global community signaled its support for Nazi terrorists rather than Israel.”

Would the UN have asked for a ceasefire to give Hitler time to regroup? Would the UN have asked for a ceasefire before Japan was defeated? Did the UN ever do anything to stop Gaza from repeatedly violating international laws recklessly and cruelly?

Why are the UN and multiple humanitarian organizations around the world so committed to a Gaza ceasefire?

Why is there overwhelming international support for the Palestinian Arabs and criticism of Israel’s response to the barbaric Hamas massacre?

Why are professors, academics, influencers around the world so opposed to Israel’s right to self-defense?

Why are students in the formerly most prestigious universities around the world demonstrating and demanding Israel’s total destruction via “Free Palestine from the River to the Sea”?

The UN and these same people had little to say when 700,000 civilians were killed in Syria including thousands of Palestinian Arabs. The killing in Syria continues today. They are silent in the face of the slaughter of civilians: in Yemen by the Iran supported Houthi terrorist since 2014, in Libya since the ousting of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, and in the Sudan. They are silent in the face of ongoing slaughter of indigenous black Africans in the Sahel by Islamists. Silent on the slaughtering of Papuans in Indonesia.

The United Nations was established after World War II in an attempt to maintain international peace and security and to achieve cooperation among nations on economic, social, and humanitarian problems. Yet more than 35 countries are currently in conflicts that result in high numbers of casualties as well as humanitarian crises. Many of these conflicts involve violent extremist groups similar to Hamas. Countries such as Algeria, Burkina Faso, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, and Uganda, are all currently experiencing significant violence.

Why are the UN and Humanitarian organizations not demanding worldwide immediate ceasefires?

Wars/conflicts in Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Mali, and Somalia are all currently resulting in significant casualties and displacement. South Sudan is currently experiencing ethnic violence, which has resulted in significant casualties and displacement. Colombia and Mexico each with more than 10,000 deaths are currently experiencing violent drug wars.

Are the UN and Humanitarian organizations demanding ceasefires?

The Russian 2014 invasion of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions resulted in more than 14,000 civilian deaths and at least 600,000 casualties since the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Horrendous violence is ongoing in Myanmar since early 2021 including major conflicts in Kachin and Krin and Kalay in Myanmar (who heard of them?) recording well over 25,000 deaths. Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya, a Muslim ethnic minority group, have been slaughtered or fled persecution in Myanmar’s Rakhine State.

Israel will consider a ceasefire with Hamas as soon as the aforementioned global wars/conflicts reach cease fire agreements.

Were there any pauses when the US decimated Fallujah and Mosul in Iraq? Why does the world demand that Israel be treated differently from any other nation in the world?

The UN did not demand that Iran and Qatar stop supporting and funding terrorist entities around the world. To add insult to injury Iran is now the chair of the UN Human Rights Council Social Forum in spite of Tehran’s record of oppression, torture and executions.

The UN and the Humanitarians should reread the Hamas charter calling for the destruction of Israel from the River to the Sea. Those who argue that the language and threats against Israel were mere verbiage should now understand that Israel is faced with enemies sworn to its destruction. Israel has no choice but to defend itself and to obliterate sworn enemies.

A world that has been blind to widespread wars and conflicts in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia cannot dictate to Israel how to best preserve itself against an insanely virulent genocidal Hamas.

  1. In late July 1943 in just two nights of bombing Humburg, Brits killed between 39 and 42 thousand German civilians, including many children.
Nobody thought that they should be stopped.
On the contrary, they proceeded to bomb one city after another, including Drezden, an architectural cultural treasure of Europe, with hardly any military relevance.
If that’s what it takes to defeat Nazis, then that’s the price we must pay.

And as for expulsion. Well, the same Brits, Americans and Russians who now screem about poor “Palestinians” supported ethnic cleansing of Germans ouf of Sudetenland (Czehia), and additionally cleansing out all Germans from East Prussia and from the part of Germany that became Western Poland. Some 2 million Germans died in the process. But who cared at that time about defeated Nazis.
The total number of Germans expulsed was between 12 and 16.5 million.
