Update on War

The govt is reporting that there have now been 2600 wounded since the war broke out. Also, unconfirmed reports in the Hebrew media indicate that the death toll has risen to 800, and the Qatari reports of negotiating a prisoner exchange has been dispelled by Israeli sources. The Gaza border is being reported as being closed, but the enclaves in the surrounding areas are not yet secure. It had been hoped that the border area would be secured yesterday, but it has been a difficult and costly affair with reports of significant casualties taking place in Sderot which was incorrectly reported to be a hostage situation, but was later corrected to be an intense fire fight with the terrorists.

Gallant has orderd a complete siege of Gaza, “There will be no electricity, no food, no gas – everything is closed”. Meanwhile the IDF has continued its air assault on Hamas targets in Gaza. There has not yet been a statement related to a land assault on Gaza, though Gen. Avivi, who previously served as Deputy Division Commander of the Gaza Brigade, has noted that it Bibi has little choice but to do so.

Avivi goes onto explains that the overwhelming attach which took place towards 22 different targets, combined with the low level of personel due to the holiday, led to the massive success of the terrorists. There are still 6 locations where terrorists are actively being pursued, but Avivi expects this to be resolved by the end of the day.

In recent hours there have been repeated missile attacks still coming from Gaza with one particularly intense attack targeting Jerusalem. Many people have arrived at hospitals for injuries related to fleeing the incoming missiles.

Abbas Kamel, the Egyptian intelligence chief, has claimed to have given Israel warnings of “something unusual, a terrible operation”. To this Bibi has responded by stating that he

“has not spoken with or met with [Kamel] since the formation of the government — not by backchannels nor directly.”

“This is total fake news.”

  1. Hi Edgar. I’ll get to you in a minute. First, I want to park this video about Yuval Noach Harari:

    Done.

Geographically, Afghanistan is connected to India. Culturally, it is closer to the Middle East — say, to Saudi Arabia. Let me list some important characteristics:

Religion: India, Hinduism; Afghanistan: Islam; Saudi: Islam.

Language: India, Indo-European; Afghanistan: Indo-European; Saudi: Afroasiatic

Writing: India, Brahmi-derived (Devanagiri); Afghanistan: Nabataean-derived (Arabic); Saudi: Arabic

History: India — Asokan Empire, Dehli Sultanate, Mughal Empire
Afghanistan — Persian & Greek Empires, Timur Khanate; Mughal Empire

Saudi — Persian & Greek Empires, Mamluk Sultanate, Ottoman Empire

You can see that Afghanistan could be considered Middle Eastern or South Asian. US military planners include it in the Middle East.

So that’s pretty close to the 3,000 you mentioned. In such a catastrophe with a multitude of collapsed homes and apartment blocks (I’m assuming that there are such) as the rubble is moved, more bodies will most likely be found , so we really don’t know haw many dead , probably for a couple of weeks.

However, elsewhere I pointed out that Afghanistan is not in the Middle East but further east of that area. It’s described in Wiki as “situated on the crossroads to Central Asia and South Asia, on the famous “silk Road””.

You earlier posted a list of the most earthquake prone areas in the world and I was extremely surprised that the depression on which the Dead Sea is situated, a notorious earthquake prone plate meeting, is not mentioned.
The rift is about 600 miles long..ending at Iran.

  3. BTW Edgar, since I wrote you, I’ve noticed major aftershocks in Afghanistan and Papua New Guinea, and a major earthquake on Mindanao, Philippines, all of them of over 6 magnitude. Concening the Afghan quakes,

Rescuers said they had found a further 350 bodies late on Sunday after officials previously put the death toll at 2,445. Health workers said they were overwhelmed. “Vans filled with dead bodies are arriving here each minute,” said a medic at Herat hospital. “We are struggling with the very high number of injured people. I have not counted dead bodies. Our morgue is out of capacity.”

  4. How has this occurred without the IDF intelligence knowing.???

Hi, Edgar. Not too long ago, there were reports that

    1. very advanced US equipent, “gifted” by Biden to the Taliban two years ago, was making its rounds to terrorists on the black market, and that

    2. massive amounts of money, destined for help for Ukraine, was being used to purchase weapons for groups like HAMAS. Also,

    3. Biden gifted HAMAS and Hizbullah’s controller, Iran, with several billion dollars just a few days ago. Most of this, of course, has gone into Iran’s nuclear program, its supplying Russia with drones and such, and equipping its clients bordering Israel. Also remember that

    4. The former Russian mercenary group Wagner has been very active in the region, training and equipping terrorists.

Those are just some speculations. What really gets my notice, is that the CIA and Mossad are joined at the hip, and that both of them contain rogue elements (at the top?) who have their own agenda that does not coincide with the best interests of the citizens.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Remember that Iran is very close to Venezuela and the Mexican drug cartels. They’re awash with money, and move freely from country to country over open and porous borders.

The US could soon be a target.

  5. Much of the time I read the updates, and even the details from the beginning show “Massive rocket attacks” .These, together seem to be far more than 3,000, which was announced at the beginning.
    g
The terrorists look as if they have an endless supply, and suddenly it can be noted that there have been no reports of terrorist rockets landing in Gaza territory.

This show that the rockets are far more sophisticated than any earlier ones, and, moreover have extended their distance so as to reach Jerusalem.

How has this occurred without the IDF intelligence knowing.???

  6. @Bear
Yes, of course, you are correct, though I had not heard of numbers so great as 50K, so thank you for that input.

The folly of acting to appease allies whose goals were never in Israel’s interest has led to the massive buildup of Iranian proxies surrounding Israel today with a nuclear Iran not far beyond them. This must end. It begins with making an end of Hamas, just as it must end with making an end of the Mullahs in Tehran. There is no other course possible, even as the cost will be quite difficult to bear, recognizing that this first blooding is but a portion of that unkind cost.

  7. @Peloni and more have been killed inside Gaza. Estimates are that there are 50,000 terrorists inside Gaza. So many more to kill.

Those propagandize against and for the terrorists will of course show destroyed buildings and dead children who died as collateral damage. Hamas holds them as human shields and they are ultimately responsible for their death.

Years of being too soft against a barbaric enemy to lead to so many dead and injured inside Israel.

  8. Horse transport is long out of date, and stables are no longer in existence other than racing stables. and at racing venues, and a very small number of stables for the children of farm owners. Vets are more expensive than doctors.

    Door closed or otherwise.
