The right-wing camp has to know that we are at a historic moment in Jewish history; a genuine threat to Jewish sovereignty is at hand, and its identity and soul are at stake.

Dr. Gadi Taub wrote a daring article in Tablet last week titled “Israel’s Elites Revolt Against Democracy.” I agree with Gadi Taub’s Tablet article After all, he was a founder member of the Peace Now movement, changed his mind and he’s an intellectual heavyweight like Ran Baratz.
Taub, with elegance, describes the judicial tyranny exercised by the legal establishment. There are many other right-wing intellectuals who have come to the same understanding as Taub.
They too describe the problem in the same manner, as I believe many right-wing politicians, Netanyahu included, do. However, this is a political conflict with no chance of resolution through legal nuances. It’s past time for straight talk. The Right must leave its comfort zone—an ivory tower—of academic legal parrying for and against judicial reform.
Groups of ex-military officers, tycoons, members of the legal establishment, and mass media are leading a hysterical protest movement. They aim for a ‘peaceful’ coup of a democratically elected government but are not afraid of violence if peaceful protest fails. Don’t take my word for it. Haaretz journalist Yossi Melman wrote on 20 July,
“A military coup is underway in Israel. This is the unvarnished truth. At the same time, there is an attempt to play with words in order to avoid looking the reality in the eye. The rebels and their supporters are employing euphemisms and resorting to linguistic acrobatics rather than stating unequivocally that there is insubordination among many Israel Defense Forces reservists. They refer to it instead as “ceasing to volunteer.”
Melman went on, “This rebellion is widespread and extends beyond the petitions that have already been signed by thousands of IDF reservists (in active duty or not), the Mossad and the Shin Bet secret service. It also exceeds the thousand or more pilots, air force technical staff, special ops personnel, elite units, Unit 8200 operatives and the technological unit of the Intelligence Branch, military doctors and more, who have not reported for reserve duty or warned that they will not report if the government’s judicial overhaul legislation, which they call regime change, is passed.”
Netanyahu and his government have yet to figure out that a well-funded rebellion is underway. If I’m wrong and they have figured it out, their responses have been less than stellar. Instead of passing the reforms we elected them for, they weakened them, hoping to appease the opposition and protesters. There is nothing this government can do to satisfy the insurrectionists. They want nothing less than to topple this government.
Efforts toward dialogue and compromise have failed. Netanyahu has to lead and provide policy solutions to put down rather than quell this military judicial coup d’état. The Prime Minister can’t allow the Left’s violent threats to stop him from rejecting arbitrary Supreme Court rulings. And Netanyahu should require The Chiefs of Staff to resign if they refuse to pledge loyalty to the government and enforce discipline in the military.
The right-wing camp has to know that we are at a historic moment in Jewish history; a genuine threat to Jewish sovereignty is at hand, and its identity and soul are at stake. The progressive left wants to cast aside Judaism and remake Israel to resemble other secular states like France. If the progressive rebellion succeeds, Israel will lose its Jewish identity and cease to exist.
Malcolm Dash was until retirement Director of Operations at the Israel Institute for Strategic (IISS) Studies www.strategic-israel.org. In 1968 he made Aliyah from Cape Town where he had studied economics and business administration at Cape Town University, served in the IDF including service during the “1973 Yom Kippur” war and work in a volunteer capacity with the Public Diplomacy Section “Hasbara” of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He later founded the Association for Israel-international Affairs and successfully arranged private briefings and seminars for the embassies of China, India, and Vietnam.
I agree that compromise is not possible with those who only care about power: all of it.
I agree, this is beyond Obama’s Black Nationalism, his fascist appropriation of the intelligence community’s surveillance means and methods, and spying on American citizens and his political rivals.
This is a globalist coup, attempting to destroy the nationhood of the Jewish people because they dare to insist on sovereignty and nationhood.
The first clear indication of the US coup occurred in 2008 during the global financial crisis. This crisis was caused by mortgage fraud by Wall Street Banks. Obama chose as the top two men for his DOJ two men who were lawyers, whose clients were all the Wall Street banks. In addition, we know now that they, too, were under orders from the Bank of Int’l Settlements to not prosecute a single Wall St. bank for their fraud which brought down the economies of the US and many countries in the world. It was clear then that this was not just an issue of corruption in the US DOJ, it was an issue of sovereignty. The US lost its sovereignty.
Now we in the US are experiencing a massive invasion at our southern border, all pre-planned and all designed to destroy the US economy, create chaos and lawlessness, and tear down the fabric of our society.
In Israel you have planned lawlessness as well, with the goal stated overtly to bring down the government, bring down the economy, and make it vulnerable to attacks on national security. At the same time the Biden administration is empowering Iran, giving Iran billions of dollars, and allowing the terrorist mullahs in Iran to have nuclear weapons in an underground bunker unassailable by all current weaponry.
At this very moment, Israel must decide for the safety of Israel and the world to destroy Iran’s capability to build that underground facility or set it back, since the US will do nothing to harm Iran’s nuclear program, while doing all in their power to help it.
Netanyahu must decide which side he is on: is he on the side of the people of Israel, or is he on the side of the globalist elites?
In the past he has shown dexterity in working for or with both the elites and the people of Israel. For example what he did during the COVID fake pandemic in following the globalist leaders in not questioning the use of a bioweapon against his own citizens as also happened around the world. (In fairness we do not know what he knew or did not know, but he was Prime Minister so bears some degree of responsibility in either event, similar to President Trump).
But this time he doesn’t have the option of working with both sides. The globalist elites have determined that by the uncompromising nature of their demands.
What you are going through is watching your country be destroyed by people who are determined to do just that.
I believe your country is worth fighting for.
People of my generation did not live through a war, (I am 70). So there are many people of my generation and younger who have not really had to sacrifice much in order to maintain our republic. While we were assuming our government was working for us, we have come to realize it had been working for the globalists for decades, putting all the pieces in place to destroy our Constitutional republic and the people in it. But we know we have to be willing to sacrifice and fight now, to either save what is left or, failing that, to start a new republic.
I’ve just been reading the link provided on the post, “Barack Obama, the Vindictive Enforcer”, before seeing the gist of the present OP — which seems to describe a parallel attack on Netanyahu and his followers to what is going on in the US to Trump and his followers.
Obama is speculated to be the force behind the American vendetta, based on the earmarks of the currently unfolding drama. If so, then, who is behind the Israeli nightmare? Obama?
One of the “proofs” of the US case, is an example of Obamaesque “acting up”:
Here we have the same actor (Obama) who is currently (proxy) persecuting Donald Trump, having done something similar to Bibi. But does this phenomenon point decisively at “President Hope and Change”? I am reminded of an even more egregious insult of an Israeli PM, Ariel Sharon (?), by then-President George W Bush, when he made the leader of Israel hunt for lodgings in Waco on a visit to Bush, while the latter entertained a Saudi prince at his ranch.
Obama cannot be blamed for that earlier insult, an insult in line with Bush’s declaring that “Islam is Peace” after over a year of gratuitous violence by the Palestinians against innocent Jews as well as the horrific murder of 3,000 Americans by Muslims in the Twin Towers.
We are not dealing here, with the personal spite and hatred of one man; we are seeing the cumulative malevolence of something far greater, something being directed equally at Trump and Netanyahu, America and Israel, Judaism and Christianity. It is not “Antisemitism”; it is not Obama; it is the Prince of Darkness and his host of minions.
Those elites like the pilots allow themselves to demand their way or the highway. I haven’t heard of any ongoing pilots from Kurs Tayis declaring that they will go on strike if their ideology is not followed. They know very well that they will be discarded immediately. The same should be true for the elite pilots. Strip them of their privileges and after the first few, common sense will return.
