Iran became decisively involved in Ukraine through its delivery to the Kremlin of the Shahed 131 and 136 drones, which have the capability to create hell on earth for those against whom they are unleashed. These weapons are now being deployed against Ukrainian civilians and are also wreaking havoc on the country’s energy infrastructure. For a long time, Iranian strategists have been allowing themselves some room to maneuver in their chess game with the West in the hope that toward the end of the match, they will outwit their opponent with a cunning gambit. Thus far, their efforts have been successful. The Iranians have continued to advance in their ever-increasing state of preparedness, creeping closer and closer to the nuclear threshold. Now, they appear to have crossed the Rubicon through their military intervention in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and there is no turning back.
