Gravitas’ analysis is sound. Yes, of course, the US is being drawn deeper and deeper into a direct conflict with Russia in Ukaine. This has been the direction of the conflict, from day one (in February, 2022). Putin turned out to be foolish, thinking things would turn out otherwise.
Concerning US President Biden, he instigated the war, essentially daring Putin to defy him. Putin fell for the trap, and has gotten mired in something he was totally unprepared for. One might argue that Biden was also unprepared; but that presupposes that Biden intends to defeat Russia. In his delusions, he may think he can. Perhaps he did have this in mind (what’s left of his mind); but until now I’ve assumed a more likely motive — diverting Americans’ attention away from Biden’s litany of failed policies with a war. Whatever his intentions, we are now in such a war. In the current political climate, I don’t know if or how we will be able to get out of it.
What about the US congress!
