MK Tzvi Sukkot demands the Defense Minister forbid the transfer of money to the city where the Yaniv brothers were murdered.
MK Zvi Sukkot (Religious Zionism party) has announced his intention to demand that Defense Minister Yoav Gallant confiscate money raised to benefit victims of the riots in the Samaria city of Huwara.
“Collecting money and transferring it to released terrorists and supporters of terrorism is a violation of the law. We live in a country of law, and even those who, for one reason or another, are interested in creating campaigns with the goal of collecting money from the public to support the Arabs of Huwara should adhere to the laws of the country, and not transfer funds to supporters of terrorism. If indeed the funds are not monitored and if there is a reasonable fear that the funds will be transferred to terrorist elements, we will ask the Ministry of Defense to confiscate the funds,” commented MK Sukkot.
MK Sukkot’s message to the Defense Ministry insists that the Ministry supervise the distribution of the funds to ensure they do not reach supporters of terrorism. The appeal alleges that Huwara harbors significant support for terrorism, and for that reason, MK Sukkot believes the Defense Minister would be justified in ordering the funds confiscated under Section 41 of Israel’s Prohibition on Financing Terror Law.

The campaign was started by left-wing activist Yaya Fink in response to a large-scale riot by Israeli citizens the night after the Yaniv brothers were murdered in a shooting attack in Huwara. The riot included stone-throwing, physical altercations with the residents of Huwara, and numerous arson attacks against buildings and vehicles in the city. Fink has stated that his campaign intends to help cover the resultant damages, and has raised more than 1.5M ILS for that purpose.
The IDF advocacy group Torat Lehima commented: “Yaya Fink’s crazy campaign on behalf of Huwara, a city of murderers, may help known terrorists who live in the village (as was published in several investigative articles) who possess illegal weapons, including some stolen from the IDF, and participate in terrorism every day through shooting, throwing stones, and launching firebombs at Jewish women and children, and against IDF soldiers. It is the duty of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to confiscate these funds. Otherwise, these will be used to continue incitement and murder in this village where the Yaniv brothers were murdered and their blood was shed as one.”
