The Cabinet’s decisions are being implemented immediately: along with formal recognition of nine new towns in Judea and Samaria, 9,000 new housing units are being approved for construction.

These include, among other things, about 1,100 new housing units that will be approved in Ma’ale Adumim, about 600 in Tel Zion, about 500 in Givat Ze’ev and about 400 in Kedumim and Elazar. In addition, tenders will be published for another 2,377 new housing units throughout Judea and Samaria.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich approved of the moves. “This is an unprecedented achievement for the settlement movement. We made a promise and we are keeping it. After a year and a half that the residents of Judea and Samaria were discriminated against, the Israeli government approves 9,409 housing units.”

“By working together with the Prime Minister and his people, we brought an achievement that has not been equaled for many years. The residents of Judea and Samaria are not second-class citizens and the construction of houses, industrial and employment areas, and educational institutions are not a luxury – they are life itself. I would like to appeal to the citizens of Judea and Samaria and the heads of the councils and tell them that there is a Zionist government in Israel and that this government loves and supports settlement,” adds Smotrich .

According to him, this is only the first stage. “This is a good start and we still have a lot of work ahead of us. The Planning Bureau in the Civil Administration has worked hard in recent days to bring about this important result, and for that we appreciate and thank you. I would like to thank Minister Gallant and his team very much for their cooperation for the settlement.”

In the Binyamin Regional Council, construction in the scope of 2,117 housing units in several localities is to be approved. In Mevo Horon, 210 housing units were approved, of which 100 were built, in Neria 189 housing units, in Dolev 90. Many units were also approved for early sale: Adam [Geva Binyamin] received 356 housing units, Tel Zion 627 units and Mitzpe Yericho 365 housing units. Another 160 housing units were approved for marketing in Kochav Yaakov.

The head of the Binyamin Council Yisrael Gantz said that “This is a very broad scope of construction approvals, just as a national and Zionist government should promote. The difference is that we are working under the government’s leadership to change perception. Investments are also coming in the construction of settlements and in the development of infrastructure and roads. We are on the right track for hundreds of thousands of residents in a few years.”

Gantz thanked Prime Minister Netanyahu and Ministers Gallant and Smotrich: “We have loyal emissaries in the government for the State of Israel and the settlement of Binyamin, and we thank them and strengthen them in this way. There is still a lot of work to be done to continue the settlement and construction efforts.”
