The sh’t has hit the fan

Due to the attack on the Kerch Bridge, Russia changed the special military operation into a war.

On February 24, 2022 Russia launched a special military operation to protect the residents of the four provinces that had be shelled for 8 years by Ukraine.  The US together with the EU imposed sanctions on Russia and began supply weapons and ammunitions to Ukraine to assist in its defense.  From what I have read, the US wouldn’t let anyone break ranks and seek peace with Russia.

During the last 8 months Putin refrained from hitting civilian infrastructure and went about the business of grinding the Ukrainian forces down. Yet western press called it a war.

Last weeks, all four provinces joined the Russian Federation. Putin swore to defend them as part of mother Russia. Then Zelenski attempted to blow up the Kerch Bridge connecting Crimea to Russia. At first Ukraine was celebrating the event. By the end of the day it was having second thoughts.

Today, all hell broke loose. Russia took the gloves off and the special military operation became a war.

The Ukrainian General Staff said in a statement that the Russian army had unleashed 77 missiles from 6:20 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in its nationwide attack. Airstrikes had also been carried out from Belarus and the Crimean peninsula, it said, using 17 Shahed-type drones.

The NYT reported;

Here is the latest on the explosions across Ukraine.

KYIV, Ukraine — Russia launched a far-reaching series of missile strikes at cities across Ukraine on Monday morning, hitting the heart of the capital and areas far from the front line in its broadest assault against civilians and critical infrastructure since the early days of its invasion.

The attacks killed at least five people, the Ukrainian police said, and knocked out power and other key services, in apparent retaliation for a blast that damaged a key Russian bridge over the weekend.

The barrage of strikes — from Lviv in the west to Mykolaiv in the south and Kharkiv in the northeast — appeared intended to hit civilian targets and cripple energy facilities as winter approaches. The explosions blew out the windows of buildings in central Kyiv, set vehicles ablaze and sent residents scrambling for shelter at a time when many were heading for school or work.

The attacks demonstrated that Russia still has the ability to strike deep into Ukraine and terrorize civilians, even as Moscow’s forces struggle on the battlefield in the eighth month of its invasion.

Here are the latest developments:

    • At least 10 Ukrainian cities came under attack, and regional officials said that electrical power stations and power lines were among the main targets of the strikes. Electricity outages disrupted internet service, and several cities were left without power and central heating, officials said.

    • Ukrainians had been bracing for retaliatory attacks following an explosion on Saturday that damaged a bridge linking Russia with Crimea.

Well, they got what they asked for. War.

The sooner the US decides to end this fiasco and make peace with Russia, the better.

What are you talking about? Russia has devastated civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

Russia has taken a very light touch approach to this conflict when compared to the wars of conquest pursued by NATO and the US in recent years. This is why there were no selfies being traded from Iraq during that war, no podcasts from journalists, no regular communications at all. Is it your belief that this is the case in Ukraine?

The Russian assaults on civilian infrastructure has been quite focused to areas involved in the war zone itself, leaving most of the Nationalist Rump of Ukraine largely unscathed. To support this fact, an electrical grid was taken out this morning. If Russia were not refraining from attacking civilian infrastructure, this electrical grid would have been taken out at the outbreak of the war. The Ukrainians have used the electricity from that grid over the past 8 months to transport their troops to the front, yet they refrained from striking it, til today, 8months into the conflict. Cell phone towers have not been taken out which is why people can still call out communicate via the web around the country. The water supply has not been attacked. The roads and bridges around the nation have largely not been attacked. In Serbia, Libya and Iraq, these elements of civilian infrastructure were targeted in the first days , if not within the first hours, of the conflict, as it is standard protocol prior to the deployment .of troops, as explained by Col. McGreggor, among others.

So I believe Ted’s statement that “During the last 8 months Putin refrained from hitting civilian infrastructure” is a fair one.

  3. In Wake Of Russian Missile Attacks, Germany Says It Will ‘Quickly’ Deliver Air Defense System To Ukraine
    October 10, 2022 By RFE/RL

“Germany says it will deliver the first of four IRIS-T SLM air defense systems to Ukraine “in the next few days,” after Russian rockets pounded several cities across Ukraine, killing several civilians.

“The renewed rocket fire on Kyiv and the many other cities makes it clear how important it is to deliver air defense systems to Ukraine quickly,” German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said in a statement on October 10, just hours after the attacks.

“Russia’s missile and drone attacks primarily terrorize the civilian population. That is why we are now supporting them with anti-aircraft weapons in particular,” she added.”

If Putin were Joe Biden’s business partner, he couldn’t have more perfectly advanced the SPIC’s (Sock Puppet in Chief) agenda. For all practical purposes, Putin and Biden are on the same side.

  4. Now Russia has violated Moldovan air space — again, the attack was unprovoked:

Moldova said three Russian cruise missiles targeting Ukraine had violated Moldovan airspace on October 10, and that it was summoning the Russian ambassador to demand explanations.

“Three cruise missiles launched on Ukraine this morning from Russian ships in the Black Sea crossed Moldova’s airspace. I instructed that Russia’s ambassador be summoned to provide an explanation,” Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu wrote on Twitter.
