Report: Russia to submit draft resolution against Israel

Reports indicate that Russia is preparing a draft resolution at the UN claiming that Israel’s attack at the Damascus airport violated international law.

Russia has grown continuously more and more antagonistic against Israel. The Kremlin has increased its verbal attacks on Israel over the lat few months. From siding with the “palestinians” to running joint drills with Syria along the Israeli border, Russia is not pulling their punches.

There are more than 10,000 Russian troops in Syria. Many of these soldiers have been kept in Syria since Putin helped Bashar Assad with the Syrian Civil War.

Now Putin i using them to pressure Israel to stay out of the coming Middle East conflict.

    Actually, it should collapse as soon as possible before do more damage.

    Problem is that, now that the govt appears to be going to elections, Lapid is the caretaker PM. Hopefully he doesn’t get Russia to more move against Israel with even more resolve and consequences than present in this current UN draft resolution.

  2. Israel should stay out of the conflict. Neither Russia or the Ukraine are friends of Israel. But Israel needs Russia. Israel does not need Ukraine. This is that simple, This pseudo-Israeli government must not play this stupid game. Actually, it should collapse as soon as possible before do more damage.

    Actions have consequences. Condemning Russia at the UN was neither necessary nor indicated since there was never any investigation.

    I agree that this might have serious consequence for Israel, but that’s as far as I can go. The political and economic map has certainly changed during the past few months; but I think Putin’s intentions are not very clear — and Israel’s intentions are a complete mystery. Add to this players like Turkey and Greece, and the unrest in Iran, and the whole situation is unpredictable. I’m especially puzzled by the statement in the OP,

    If a “coming Middle East conflict” is not supposed to involve Israel, who IS it supposed to involve?

Israel voted to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine at the UN in all votes in which it could participate, and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid has repeatedly spoken out against the war and accused Russia of war crimes. But Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has been quieter and has focused on expressing sadness at the loss of life.

    The Bennett-Lapid game of Quiet Cop – Bad Cop seems to have not impressed Putin. Now the gloves come off, placing Israel fully in the fist of the US. This is exactly how to fail at diplomacy. Recall the Obama moves against Israel at the end of his second term when Russia came to support Israel.

    Actions have consequences. Condemning Russia at the UN was neither necessary nor indicated since there was never any investigation. The unforced error leading to this current situation will have a serious consequence for Israel.
